BBB for boys? Pics?

I've tried looking through the Official BBB thread, however all I can find are girl pictures. I have a feeling my son isn't going to want the face make - up that is involved in the Pirates League so I was thinking the BBB 'prince' option would be better (or at least I'd like to give him a choice).

Anyone out there have any pictures of their son's getting the 'prince' style at BBB? Thoughts on this? I'm debating between doing this and Pirates League for his 5th birthday.

I was thinking the same thing for my son, the lady told me it included just geling their hair / spikeing it and putting confetti in it. I'm sure it would take all of 10-15 min

Exactly what I was worried about - I will have my 5 year old son (for his birthday) and my 7 year old daughter. I'm just worried if I make them an appointment that he will just be a quick 10 min ordeal while of course she would take much longer and get more out of it. Ugh - just looking for something special to do for his birthday...it's so much harder for boys :(

Yeah the boys get a sword and shield though... It sounded like a quick thing because BBB was booked when we were there for girls but they told me they could "squeeze him in" but at only $15 its not a bad deal, maybe having him get his haircut at the barbershop off of main street would be a better experience? They do the hair styling and confetti in the hair

I would consider taking him to the barbershop on Mainstreet and have them do the spike/glitter 'do there.

My ds has done this a few times when my dd has done the BBB. Yes, the boys only take about 10 mins. and the girls are more like 45 mins. - in our experience.

Also, last Sept. while we were there they didn't do the colored gel or the mickey head that they used to do on the back of their head. They just put plain gel in his hair and sprinkled some "pixie dust" on his head. He was literally in the seat for like 5 mins. My ds was pretty disappointed. I asked about it and they said they had stopped doing it, however I thought I read somewhere here on the dis that they got the gel/mickey head within the last few months so maybe it's back??

Either way, we won't be doing it again. My ds is getting older and like I said he was really disappointed last year and said he didn't want to do it anymore (he wouldn't have done it last year had he known what it would be). They do get a sword and knight styrofoam thing, but once you've gotten them once, I really don't think it's worth the $15

They do still do it. I tried to get an appt for last week, but it was booked a few months out. We did Pirates League. I've read they will do less make up if your child won't tolerate it. It would still be fun with minimal make up. A shy child might not like PL though. Mine is very outgoing and was still a little overwhelmed for part of it. He loved the final look and all the attention after. He wore his pirate stuff the next day too! He got a ton of attention in the park.

I just think he is going to be too shy for PL - I dunno. I'll have to look at the package and see what they give you. My main concern is that it's more or less face painting - he wouldn't like that. But if there is a package where he gets a pirate sword or something like that he will be all for it.

And pirate and para cruise - sounds very interesting - but I don't want to take away too much time from our MK day. We are planning dinner at Chef Mickey - do they have a pirate cruise to watch fireworks? Maybe we could do that after dinner???

My son is not at all interested in Pirates league or hair gels and spike...it's just not him and I would assume as parents especially if you have son and daughter it's easier to find a special event like BBB or Cinderella's Castle for girls, but what to do about boys? There are various activities but they will take you away from the park ( mini golf, fishing trip, pirate adventure, etc), But maybe it doesn't have to be that difficult...maybe all you need is to instead of spending $ on pirates league or BBB prince get a Disney gift card and give it to your son and let his special treat be a shopping spree in the park where he can use his gift card to buy something special for himself. It's probably a better way to spend your $ anyway instead of on a makeup job that will get smudged or wear off or hair glitter that will take forever to wash out.

I know DS enjoys having his "own" money to spend at Disney so he can pick out what HE wants despite what mom and dad think of it.

My 2 boys did this last year (5 and 7). They spike their hair with gel and then "paint" the spiked tips with different colored gels and sprinkle with Mickey confetti. Think cupcake. They do get a foam sword and shield (with the Sleeping Beauty dragon on it). The sword/shield was surprisingly sturdy. We still have them but the cheap plastic ones we bought at the parks didn't even make it home. We joke that the sword/shield was worth the cost! Some things to know...the colored get does not dry well and gets all over everything. It does stain!! All of it is hard to wash out and they won't let you in the pools until it's out (we witnessed this, we did not try to swim it out ourselves). My 5 year had a great time with the whole experience. He loved the attention and is an overall very social butterfly. My 7 year old is shy and was embarrassed as the entire BBB was full of princesses. He liked the end result for a while but not the process. Note for parents, if you don't have a princess yourself, it is SOOOOO annoying in the BBB itself. Think 8 year old birthday party for 20 girls and a hair stylist. The waiting area is also where they have all the dresses and accessories you can buy. People are trampling over you to "shop" whether you are standing or lucky enough to find a seat. It's hot, it's loud. It was a good one time experience, but really consider it (girl or boy) before booking. **Magic Kingdom castle location**
