We went to BBB in the castle last week 2/25 for a princess treatment for daughter and a cool dude for son who will be six in 2 weeks.
Daughter's hair was great- lasted a week!
Son's hair is also lasting a week is the problem. They put red and blue colored gel in his blonde hair and it is still there! Closer to pink than red. Anyone have this happen to them?
I have washed it 12 + times, tried dish soap, perioxde and rubbing alchol (not at the same time).
We showed it to BBB in DTD on Sat. They were shocked but had not ideas for removing it. They gave him a free hat since I complained he was wearing a hat in all my photos.

Any ideas on removing the color? Any ideas were to call and complain for the best response?

I'm not sure it's anything you should call and complain about :confused3 I mean, you chose to let them put the color in his hair. I'm a hairstylist and have seen this before with kids with blonde hair. Unfortunately, it's not temporary for blondes like it is for brunettes. My advice is to keep washing it with a clarifying shampoo and maybe even try a purple shampoo ( meant for people with brassy hilites, but can also help remove reddish tones). Eventually it will wear off.

Want to just leave the glitter and color there until it comes off of its own accord?

So you don't make it into a nightly ordeal for him, all that shampoo and peroxide and time consumed.

At least you got your money's worth!!

:lmao:

This is gross but have you tried mayo or vinegar? When I was little my precious blond locks got colored w/ a Kool aid spill once (red) and by chlorine in a pool once (turned green). I remember once time mom used mayo on it and it came out and one time a vinegar shampoo. Of course now I am deathly terrified of Mayo (i have just gotten to where I can type the word without gagging in the past 6 months) and can't stand the smell of vinegar and I still hate my hair dresser cousin for recommending it. Disclaimer: that was back in the 80's and 90's I dont know if they have better stuff nowadays for getting the color back.

My son's hair STILL has a slight hint of red and blue in it. we did the cool dude for him in mid December- so this is 2.5 months later. They did the mickey ears on the back of his head with red and blue circles. It just doesn't come out. If you do it, i recommend NOT doing the mickey ears or at least NOT doing red and blue- maybe yellow is easier to come out?

Happened to my little blond too. But it was nothing for us to complain about. He thought it was fun, and it eventually came out, a little every time he shampooed. I actually cant believe you want to call and complain, but to each their own I guess.

I'm pretty sure that my son would be less than thrilled if had to walk around with PINK hair! :scared1:

What kind of response would you be looking for? Compensation?

Remember, you allowed them to do it.

Just this week I uncolored my hair using a product called Color Oops by Loreal. I bet that would get the color out. But if you don't want something that drastic I'd recommend a really short haircut, since he's a boy he can get away with it. Good luck!!

I think the response she is looking for is HOW TO GET THE COLOR OUT!

I would be rather upset if my child's "temporary" color lasted several months:scared1: "Allowing" vacation fun is quite different than what she got!

At the very least parents of tow heads should be warned about the more permament "feature" when it comes to blondes!

I would call and complain not for you, but for everyone who comes after you!

Also, I would try your local beauty supply for a color remover, That is probably your best bet. Atleast, you have a boy whose hair will grow out quickly - imagine a girl with shoulder length hair!

Any ideas on removing the color?
Have you talked to a hairdresser? Not a local "Quick Clips" place, but an actual hair stylist? Particularly someone who specializes in hair coloring. They're the experts on how to get colors, tints, and dyes out of hair. I would think that you're probably doing more damage to your son's hair with all the peroxide and shampoos and rubbing alcohol and such than the actual coloring did! And a colorist can tell you what you SHOULD use to get the dye out without ruining your child's hair.

Clearly, your son's reaction to the color is the exception, not the rule, or there would have been many many stories of the dye problem by this point. Not to mention the fact that BBB was at a loss for how to remove the dye. I mean ... they've been doing the "cool dude" package for quite some time, and I can't remember anyone else posting about this.

As for a number to call for "the best response", that would depend on what kind of response you consider "the best". If you're looking for compensation, then you'd go through Guest Relations. If you're looking for someone who can get the color out or provide suggestions, then perhaps the hair stylists at the Grand Floridian spa may be able to assist.

Thanks for all the advice. I will try taking him to a salon for any tips they could offer.
He is not happy with pink hair. He is getting alot of attention from it at school. the kid has pink and blue hair and a mickey on the back of his head!

His hair is very short so the only shorter option is buzzing it like a marine.

I want to make sure they tell future blondes this can happen! No one warned us.
BBB did not offer any ideas, they said they only do the treatment and have no experience with removing it, which is true.

this is on trip we will have lots stories to tell. Especially if his hair is still pink for his birthday in 2 weeks.

Poor kid.

When ds9 got his hair done about 5 years ago I was going to get a pink Mickey on my hair, but the guy told me it would stain.

It should be on a disclaimer that you sign--I bet they'd lose a lot of sales that way. They should use something that will wash out easy for the kids.

Have you tried Dawn dish washing soap? It pretty much strips hair. My niece used to be a hairdresser and I know she used it a couple times to take color out.

I have a very blond, 4 year old girl who is going to the BBB in April. Do they just put sparkles in the girl's hair or should I be concerned about her hair changing color too?

.
Daughter's hair was great- lasted a week!

How long did you leave it in before you tired to wash it out? Was it a week like your daughters?

Our boys have had the same "cool dude" with red and blue and blond hair and we have never had a problem but we wash their hair within 24 hours. Same with our daughter and her BBB do. I would never leave a heavy colored gel in there hair for a week.

Maybe that is the problem.

I would just deal with it - at age 6 does a color on the back of his head really bother him? Can he even see it? Or is it more of a problem for you. I guess I don't see a huge issue and certinally nothing to complain about - but to each their own.
