BBB cool dude won't come out!

You can buy a product that will strip your hair of it's colour at any beauty supply shop. I had to use this in highschool when my temporary blue hair dye REFUSED to bleach out or be coloured over after months of having it. I just would not fade and I had to have it a "natural colour" for school. This is kind of drastic for a child with virgin hair, though. It can definitely damage your hair because it is stripping all of the pigment. If you're really concerned about it however, that is what I would recommend. You could probably isolate it to the area that has lingering dye.

One of the blessings and curses about being blonde is that colour sticks. That's why when you dye your hair bright colours you have to bleach it first...the temporary dye soaks into your light hair and stays. I'm surprised they don't have a warning about this at Disney.

Good luck!
The first time I wrote that I put "good night". Guess someone's sleepy!

Blonde hair is very porous and grabs and holds color really easily. My oldest DD had very light blonde hair and I didn't let her put anything in her hair because I was afraid it wouldn't come our easily. I agree with posters that said to try clarifying shampoos. A quick Google search also suggested dandruff shampoo or Prell shampoo (do they still make it?). Good luck to you and your little guy!

I don't know what I would do, but I don't think there is anything wrong with letting Disney know that the color they are using is permanent in some cases....it sounds like they should let the parents know that it may not come out of blonde hair before they do it. If no one complains, maybe they don't know that.

To say "you allowed them to do it" is assuming that everyone that takes their child there knows the dye may not come out. Unless Disney posts that in the BBB, I am guessing that is NOT a normal assumption. If the employee lets you know that, and you still do it, then you could say that.

Not everyone that calls with comments, recommendations or complaints is looking for compensation. That is how the system gets improved - by customer input.

I am surprised that they didn't warn you. We took DS6 to the Main Street Barber Shop in MK over the summer, and when he said he wanted blue in his mostly blond (has a bit of red in it too) hair, they were very quick to warn me that it might not come out like it's supposed to. It didn't, though it didn't last as long as the OP's did, he had a significant amount of color for most of our trip.

I do agree that a good hair dresser is probably the best bet. It is also good to hear that the OP isn't looking for some kind of compensation, just to be sure that parents are warned about the possibility BEFORE they get the hair colored. For us, it wasn't a big deal, and if it had lasted for longer, and DS wasn't comfortable with his hair being blue, I would have given him a buzz cut, and no one would have known why. It's only hair, it will grow back.

All I can say is I am sorry for your son's hair and hope he is not too upset about it.... and also a HUGE :worship: Thank you for the warning about the color!!!!!!!!!!

We have a BBB appt 3/22 for our blondies (DD3 and DS5) and I am SO glad to know about this color problem now.

Thanks so much and if I had any different or better advice I would give it to you - I owe you!

We left it in for a little than 24 hours. He had it at 4 pm on one day, we washed it out at bedtime the next.
Only left daughter's hair up because it was only plain gel and hairspray for the girls hair dos.
I do just want to warn others this is a possiblity.

He is getting alot of attention from it at school. the kid has pink and blue hair and a mickey on the back of his head!

:lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:

Just take him to the get a hair cut.

I have a very blond, 4 year old girl who is going to the BBB in April. Do they just put sparkles in the girl's hair or should I be concerned about her hair changing color too?

I think you'll have a problem if you leave it in for a week. If you wash it out the next day, you should be ok.

I have to admit I still think it's funny, but I can understand why a boy would not want pink dye in his hair ;)

We are still planning on bringing our kids to Harmony Barbers for coloring and sparkles. But now I'll make sure my son does not get red color - just blue. I'm sure he would be just thrilled if the blue lasted a long time, and I know my daughter would with the pink.

It mostly will not happen though as they are not blondes, but rather light brown that will turn darker as they get older. My hair is quite dark brown and when I had plum added to it, it was hardly noticeable...

My kids are all dark haired, so it's not an issue with me, but I would make sure I tell them only glitter, no color.

Shave off all his hair and let him start over.... <I'm a bad parent>

thank you so much for the warning. we were at EP for xmas & daughter had pixie dust sprinkled in hair. The red "dust" bled color into her roots with each washing, but would not come out. She had a pink halo at roots for about 4 wks. No amt. of scrubbing made any diff...she's very blonde.

we're going to MK in May & have BBB appt. We definitely do NOT want to put in color!!!!! LOL

I got it done when we went to BBB to show my little sister there was nothing to be afraid of and it stayed in for about a month before I could get it to come out with regular shampoo.

:lmao:

This is gross but have you tried mayo or vinegar? When I was little my precious blond locks got colored w/ a Kool aid spill once (red) and by chlorine in a pool once (turned green). I remember once time mom used mayo on it and it came out and one time a vinegar shampoo. Of course now I am deathly terrified of Mayo (i have just gotten to where I can type the word without gagging in the past 6 months) and can't stand the smell of vinegar and I still hate my hair dresser cousin for recommending it. Disclaimer: that was back in the 80's and 90's I dont know if they have better stuff nowadays for getting the color back.

I second the mayo idea. it has to be real mayo not mericlale whip (sp sorry i do not eat it so i donot know how to spell it). My mom is a hairdresser and I also got the green pool hair. It was also in the 80'/90's but worth a try since probably cheaper than taking him to a salon. Let us know what works.

I googled it for you. Try lemon juice, followed by conditioner. They also suggested baking soda mixed in with the shampoo, even tide detergent. One thing I thought of was GooGone. It's all natural, and gets stuff like crayon, wax, gum, ect. off of things. I would have your son lay down, apply a little at a time to see if it works, then immediately wash his hair. I would go as far as having him lay down in the bath tub to avoid getting anything in his eyes.

Thanks for all the ideas. I will post later if any work.

I wanted to post pictures but not sure how.

who will shave his head before the weekend is over if nothing works.

Slightly off topic but with regards to blonde hair going green in the pool try washing your hair in tomato juice. It seems to counter act the green. My mum has used it before she is a natural blonde and it works. I have blonde highlights and my salon said if it goes green try the tomato juice.

Sorry I can't help the op with her sons hair. I hope he gets it sorted out soon. :goodvibes

You are not a bad parent!! I have 2 boys and that is exactly what I would do!!! (their hair is already that way!!!) It is only hair!! It WILL grow back!! I feel for him having pink hair, that would be the easiest solution!! better than all of the chemicals!
