Does Blizzard Beach have a wave pool? We are trying to decide which water park to go to with grandpa. He won't go on the slides but likes to bob around wave pools.

Also, how soon before opening do we need to get there to make sure that he gets a chair? If one is not available will a CM help find one for someone who is not able to sit on the ground (can't get back up)?

BB does have a wave pool, but it doesn't have the big "knock you down" type of waves found at Typhoon Lagoon. BB might be just right for Grandpa!

yes they do and if you have kids they have a great kiddie area btw the lazy river is great

They do have a wave pool and it is much easier to handle then Typhoon Lagoon's. TLs was great but my son won't even step foot there anymore because of all of the commotion when the tidal wave hits. It sends people flying everywhere. Fun, but not relaxing. A lot of scraped up knees.

Personally I dislike BB's wave pool for one singular reason. They made the bottom of it like heavy gravel sandpaper. If you're skin is in contact with the bottom of that pool in any way while the waves are dragging you back and forth then you are going to end up at best with raw skin and at worst an ugly bleeding place.

Now it's not bad out in the deep where a grown up can stand and "float" with the waves but if you're trying to stay with your kids in the shallow end and you want to actually get in the water...not just stand up out of the water... then it can be a real pain.

We never have a problem finding chairs. If you have a large group it could be hard to find several together. Nearest the wave pool are chaises, not chairs, but there is a bar nearby where you could grab one and move. Behind the bar is an area with lots of shade whereas the are at the wave pool is usually sunny.
BB has tubes for use at the wave pool. There are not alot, but you can watch for someone to let theirs go as they get out and grab it.
If he can do a few steps, he would probably enjoy the lazy river also.

BB has the "bobbing wave pool" whereas TL has the MASSIVE knock-you-down wave every couple of minutes. I think Grandpa would probably like BB...IMO it has better slides and theming too!

Thanks for the quick responses. It looks like BB is what we will do.

One other question, can we picnic at the waterpark?

Technically BB's "wave" pool is an "agitation" pool, i.e. they pretty much just rough up the water. That's how most supposed wave pools are; Typhoon has one of the rare true wave pools. I remember trying to explain it to DH before he visited Disney. He'd been in many "agitation" wave pools and wasn't getting the concept...he sure did get it the first time one of those monsters at Typhoon sent him flying!

Yes you can bring any size cooler you want we went last summer and the only thing we paid for was the locker.

You just have to be aware of the standard no alcohol, glass, etc.

About the no glass remember that means no condiment bottles, Snapple, coffee drinks, etc.
