My recent stay at Bay Lake Tower from 9/17/10 to 9/24/10 left me a little frustrated. We booked our reservation 11 months before our check in. We did the online check in 10 days prior to arrival. I had requested top 2 floors, and they put us on the 6th floor. What a bummer.. Our view of the Magic Kingdom was ok, but I felt they never even looked at my request to be on a higher floor. Any thoughts on how to make sure I don't have this happen again?

It's possible all the rooms on higher floors were occupied. I thought the top 2 floors were mostly grand villas. Just because you didn't get what you wanted doesn't mean they ignored your request. I don't think online check-in affects getting requests.

We had a dedicated 2 bedroom MK view, but I am not sure if that would have made a difference of not. I still really enjoyed the whole experience, but just wonder if next time I try and push them a little bit at check in time.

Since they couldn't fulfill your request- the top 2 floors only contain Grand Villas- you would have to ask for something they could do but there is never a guarantee of getting a request even if you reserve early- they don't look at when you made your reservation when determining your hotel room- I would say you would have been better off with a request of as high as possible.

I agree you probably made a bit too specific of a request. Something like "highest floor possible" would have given them a little more leeway. And in the end, requests are just that - sometimes they just can't find a way to make them all work. I requested a high floor for my stay this past August and we ended up on the 7th floor, and we overlooked the delivery docks. At first I was disapponted, but at night we could see Wishes perfectly from our balcony. I was thrilled and the height of the room was a non-issue.

Honestly the only way to not be upset is to realize you are only making a request, not getting a guarantee as to where your room will be therefore realizing you can ask but you may not receive.

That being said, if you were not happy with the 6th floor did you ask if a higher floor was available when you got your packet and found out where you room was? if not there is little to honestly complain about.

Keep in mind there are only four dedicated two-bedroom villas with MK views on each floor at Bay Lake Tower. As others have said, the GVs are on the top floors; the highest floor that has a dedicated two-bedroom MK view villa is the 12th floor. It looks like you didn't get a full complement of pixie dust on this trip, but maybe you'll have better luck on your next trip. Keep in mind that you could have been assigned a villa on the 4th or 5th floor, so the 6th floor was just a tad better.

Good luck on your next trip!!!

I requested a high floor and got a MK view at the 3rd floor. I was really bummed because I thought that standard view was 3rd floor and below. In my opinion it wasn't a good MK view at all. I was upset that I didn't get my request...but understand that they can't be guarenteed. However I think I am going to call because I do not believe that 3rd floor should be consided MK view!

In the centre facing MK 3rd floor is considered Theme Park view currently, could that change, it is possible. The more people complain the better chance they may do something about it. We had a second floor dedicated 2BR - Std View -- I can see how someone just one floor above us may be upset but for us we were trilled :) :thumbsup2

We still enjoyed the views, I guess next time I will put in the request for highest floor possible and cross my fingers. With it being our first stay at BLT through our DVC we were just hoping for it all I guess. All in all it was a great vacation time, and I look forward to staying at BLT w/ MK view for sure. Thank you all for you in put on this.....

Not necessarily. I requested highest floor possible. Saw people were doing online check in and getting lower floors so I didn't do the online check in and got the 3rd floor. I hope you have better luck :)

I did online check in this summer and got exactly what I wanted at BLT so I don't think that was the problem.

It sounds like the request was not possible as there are no 2 bedrooms on the top two floors.

Plus, most people who reserve at BLT, especially MK view rooms (or so it seems) request to be on the higher floors. Since everyone can't stay in those rooms, some people are not going to get their requests.
