battery operated nebulizer?

do you know of any ? have you seen any that plugs in to a cig lighter. my dd needs to have it every 3 -4 hours ( during an Asthma spell) and I am driving? i know it will be worse in fL with the mold

Can't help you with the battery operated one for the car off the top of my head. I would suggest calling one of the medical supply companies in the area. Check the Yellow Pages. Or, call your doctor and find out which medical supply company they use for home nebulizers, etc.

I had a regular one a few Christmases ago (whooping cough). Besides being so sick, I was fine. There are electrical plugs in nearly all of the bathrooms. You might get a few funny looks, but it's usually of concern and not something else.

There have been some posts about battery operated nebulizers. Hopefully, one of those people will post about it.

I'd suggest looking at the nebulizer you already have to find out the brand and model number. Then, you can try to find a website and email them your question.
Or follow one of the suggestions already mentioned.
Also, you might want to contact an automotive place or somewhere like Radio Shack and ask for suggestions. What you need is a converter or inverter to change the car power to regulur household current.

I use this and it is fantastic! I take treatments every 2-3 hours (Xopenex)and Pulmicort and Pulmozyme. The neb is battery powered by AA batteries. It is also super fast (nebs everything in 5-7 minutes) and completely silent. It is very small and weighs less then a pound. It comes with a small zippered bag that fits in most purses. It can also neb pulmicort. It also has a plug for the wall. You can buy it without a perscription. I definitely recommend the Aeroneb Go! A search on Google will get you different suppliers.

Omron also makes 2 different ones that have a rechargeable battery and can also be pluged into a 12v car adaptor.

They sell adapters that go into your cars cigarette lighter. This allows you to plug ANYTHING that has a regular plug. I use one of these adapters for my moms nebulizer on long car trips or emergencies. The kids use it to plug a laptop into also.

I have asthma and use an ultrasonic neb by Omron. It takes 2 AA batteries only. I have had it for a long time and still have not had to change the batteries. It comes in a small zipper case, that I throw in my backpack when traveling. It fits in the palm of your hand.

We have an old one. It an Micro Air Omron portable/battery operated nebulizer. We bought it in 2000 after my son had some asthma trouble and the power went out and we were stuck without a neb. I think it was around $200. It is now 2006 and it is still working. We use it only for back up, and have to carry extra batteries with us for just in case. It uses 4 double A's.

This question is not directly connected to the battery operated nebulizer one because my nebulizer has a rechargable battery with it. But along similar lines - i'm allergic to dust mites, and basically anything outside that is green. My trip this summer is during the flower and garden festival - anyone have any tips for not letting my asthma get out of hand with this, or anyone have a similar experience that was okay? Also, (I have been to disney world about 10 times before, but just found out about the dust mite allergy) Disney Housekeeping is going to special clean my room to try and get rid of dust mites, has anyone else had this done so I can know what to expect? Any information would be greatly appreciated since my trip is just two weeks away. Thanks so much!

My son has a bad allergy to dust mites. What has really helped is putting the allergy cases on the bed mattress and pillow. This really cuts down on his exposure to dust mites. I also wash all his bedding once a week in hot water. If I skip a week, I can tell since his symptoms flare up.
Don't know if it would be poosible for you to at least bring an allergy pillow case for the bed? I also take off the blankets/ comforter off the bed.
