Bathrobe and slippers

I Iove my terry cIoth robe straight out of shower. Then it stays on thru make-up and hair. At nite Iove it for comfort. SIippers noooo

I'd wear my LLBean Wicked Good Slippers everywhere if I could. Bathrobe, sometimes...but slippers, all the time. Good thing I work from home!

I wear a robe after getting out of the shower while getting ready. I have slippers but rarely wear them. I can't stand my feet being hot. I usually just wear regular socks or fuzzy socks. I don't like being barefoot. For some reason, barefeet makes me get toe cramps like crazy.

As for the shoes in the house debate:

I come home, wipe my feet on entry mat, proceed upstair where I go through mail, start dinner, etc., then I finally make my way upstairs to the bedroom where I change out of my workclothes/shoes and change into my evening clothes (sweats, yoga pants, fuzzy socks, etc.) I don't usually wear shoes around the house unless I've just come home or am getting ready to leave. I can't imagine having to sit in the entry to put on shoes. They are taken off and put in the closet when I change out of my day clothes.

Now, if I come home and my shoes are visibly soiled then they will be taken off and left in the entry until I feel like cleaning them.

My house is neat and clean but no way no how can I envision myself vacuuming, mopping, sweeping twice a week and steam cleaning carpets once a month. (Isn't that much water actually bad for the carpets?)

It is called House Work...how often do you sweep, mop, vacuum to keep your house clean??

I love my big fuzzy white robe but unfortunately the slippers I have right now are not real comfy, so I just wear socks.

Usually on Saturday or Sunday along with other household chores. I don't get home from work until 7:30 PM every day. No way in heck am I doing anything other than dinner, clean up dinner, and homework (if I have it), and be in bed around 10 during the week. Not happening. For me right now, work and homework take priority over housework. And no, my house isn't a dirty mess. We are barely home long enough to dirty it. Anyone could stop by unannounced and I wouldn't be embarassed by the cleanliness of my home.

Of course if there is a mess, something spilled on floors/carpet, it will be cleaned then but regular cleaning happens once a week. Not sure if it matters, but there are only 2 adults in the home, no kids to be picking up after.

I'll admit to my house being a mess. Like you, the last thing I want to do when I get home is vacuum, mop, sweep, etc. I come home and cook, get my work clothes ready for the next day, and try to relax after a pretty grueling day at work. I love a clean house but not at the expense of just having some downtime. I *try* to vacuum once a week. My hardwoods don't get cleaned nearly as often as they should. And when I had carpet there is no way I steam cleaned it very often. I also heard that it's bad for it plus exacerbates mold in the carpet.

That matters a LOT in my opinion - I have two little people and an open floor plan. Meaning that the kitchen, dining, and living are all one big room. There is no way to keep crumbs contained when everything happens in one room with two little ones who still don't have perfect eating skills. So every single day the floor is swept and vacuumed. I can usually get away with mopping once a week and just spot cleaning spills the rest of the week. And the only reason that is the case is because shoes come off at the door. ;) Upstairs carpets can go about two weeks between vacuuming, again because shoes never make it up there.

I will also point out that you having to go up the stairs in your shoes before getting to a living area saves you work - the stairs catch the dust from your shoes before you get up to your living space. Which is great. :)

So you wear your big heavy winter boots upstairs to the bedroom? :confused3

My husband loves his slippers. He wears them all the time. In fact they were a gift this year so he can throw his other ones away. I have some but don't wear them nearly as much. We are not bath robe people.

That would matter, no kids in the house = very clean house

Only if you saturate the carpet or don't let it dry out properly, It doesn't get done on wet or freezing days, only on days where I know it will dry out...That is common sense

We have pets indoors, so regular cleaning is done, in order to keep the house clean :thumbsup2

I'm just lazy. I have pets too. I just don't have the time/energy for all that cleaning although I would enjoy it to be clean like that.

I used to have a professional, truck mounted steamer come once a year. They got it the driest ever and I still found it to be too wet. I eventually just stopped doing it (and with the hardwoods, I don't have many to do anymore) especially when my son's allergist advised very strongly against it.

If you can't do it on freezing days how do we do in northern climates? Never heard of that.

I wear both robe & slippers/slipper socks. Especially in the winter, jammies & slippers or robe go on early in the evening.

I don't really have heavy winter boots. I have fashion winter boots. If I come home and they are wet/muddy/etc I will take them off downstairs and then put them in the garage to dry. If they are dry, yes I will wear them upstairs and put them with the other shoes. They all have a proper place. :)

Well then we are probably not comparing apples to apples. Heavy winter boots with salt on are not worn in my house. Yup to the proper place - front hall closet for outerwear like coats and shoes.

Everyone in my house wears slippers. And I use a robe, usually after I shower and before I get dressed. My mom, on the other hand, wears a robe over her pajamas in the mornings.

DH & I are not robe people. I do have a nice thick, white robe but I never wear it. I don't like slippers or socks. Mostly I am barefoot or wear some knock off Ugg style boots with bare feet that I consider my slippers. If I'm sitting around, it's in a sweatshirt and yoga pants.

DH likes to wear slippers that cover his ankles. DS asked for a similar pair for Christmas and a new robe. Our girls don't wear either. They wear sweatshirts with leggings & fuzzy socks.

DS12 has always LOVED his robe and slippers! He wears them all the time. We used to call him Lord [son's name] or Hugh Hefner behind his back. :lmao:

We could do it on those days if we wanted to.

We leave the house when I get it done, to save walking on the drying carpet and marking it.

On the freezing days the last thing I want to do is be outside, so it doesn't get done...It is more a comfort thing, than a "can not do" thing, as we do have heating to dry it out faster.
