Basking in the Glow of the (not so) Creepy Clown -2/11-Pictures, Final Thoughts, PTR!

Great update. I am going to put that place on our list for Dec!! I am glad that most of your Grandma's house is going to be ok.

How cute the kids meal came in a bucket! That reminds me of the good old days when airlines used to serve actual meals...we flew ATA and got our food on a frisbee! hehe And I think the Sci-Fi did that too actually.

Oh My Brooke. I am so sorry to hear about all the flooding. How devastating for your family. I will keep them in my prayers. What a difficult time for everyone.

I loved your update and I discovered on this trip that I loved Restaurantsaurus. It was great!!!!! I had the veggie sandwich with sweet potato fries and I inhaled it. It was that good. Way better than I ever imagined.

I am so glad Henry got his bucket and that he got to play the drums. He gets cuter in every picture.

Oh my Brook! I'm still praying for all your family and friends! What a terrible situation!

Great update! We ate a Restaurantasaurus in 05 when they still did the Donald Breakfast there! That was it! I may have to keep it in mind for the future! Especially with the shovel and bucket! Ryan was love that! I love Henry's face when he saw it!!!

I, for one, have absolutely no problem with you and Henry holding the table while Joe got the food! Really, with kids that the only way to do it!

Can't wait to see how much fun Henry had in the Boneyard! Hope it wasn't too hot in there!

I'm relieved to hear your Grandmother's house wasn't damaged as bad as some. I'll continue to keep that area in my prayers. I can't image loosing whole communities.

Wonderful update. DH and the kids can't pass the drums without stopping to play and I have much older kids. I haven't tried Restuarantosarus but it sounds like a great place to get out of the heat.

Thanks for the camera info!! :)

Um, I never would have thought twice about grabbing a table while my DH got food, even if it was crowded. Never knew that ws bad form!!:confused3 But you said it wasnt crowded so really no big deal!

I will need to keep that place in mind, Aiden would flip with both the theme and the bucket and shovel:banana:

I hope the healing continues for your family and friends. And that any update from here on out is ALL good news! :flower3:

Great pictures of restaurantsaurus (or however you say it!) I have a vague memory of eating there on my 2003 trip but I think it may have been called something different. I think they actually served McDonalds! But seeing your pictures, it looks nothing like I remember....

Might have to try it next time!

Hey Brooke!!!!! :wave2:

Just catching up.. I feel like I am always catching up. UGH!

Sorry you were not feeling well... hope you are back to 'normal'- what ever that is these days! :lmao:

How nice to have Henry sleep in a bit on day 2! I'm sure he was excited to get a little treat of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. :woohoo:

Love his little FIsher Price camera... Juliana has one too, but I think she has out grown it already. She knows how to use Melody's camera and takes pretty good pics with it too.

Great pics of AK!

I never knew about the kids bucket at Restaurantosaurus... actually I haven't even head much about this restaurant.

OK back on track... i think?

Again just more :hug::hug::hug: for your family in Minnesota.

How perfect that a bucket came with the meal - what an awesome surprise for Henry! I've probably walked by Restaurantasaurus every time and I don't think I ever noticed it...must look for on next trip.

Marc & I always have one person order and one person find a table. Nothing wrong with that!

We do the same thing too. I know there is talk about here about how you aren't suppose to do that. But it's so much easier with a little one. And as long as it isn't packed, I don't see an issue.

I love the shovel and bucket meal. Might have to remember that. Can't wait to see Henry put them to use.

What a great meal. Why did I think that you posted the shrimp po boy from there on the food porn thread? I think we will have to eat there too. I ate there once when it was a glorified McDonald's and it was crowded and not good.
Love the bucket!
My thoughts on standing in line...
What your husband did is perfectly acceptable. What is not acceptable is when one person stands there, others find a table and then they all come up to order separate purchases. That is like holding a line for a ride. Was it crowded?

I posted just after the person with the po boy I believe, so you probably just got us mixed up. We aren't big on shellfish, so that wasn't even on our radar. :goodvibes

I have to agree with you about the holding a table and everyone does separate orders. How strange! Why would people even want to do that?? By the time the last person ordered, the first person would be done!

Nope, it wasn't crowded in there at all, we sat in the very first room and there were lots of open tables.

How awesome that you got a bucket for Henry when you didn't expect it! I've never been inside of Restaurantosaurus, so would've had no idea.

And free refills. :cool2:

Same here. I had browsed the menu online and heard they had a new menu, but really thought I would end up at Yak & Yeti with H (he loves Chinese!), I'm glad we opted for Restaurantosaurus!

The free refills was very nice. I had at least 2 Diet Cokes and 2 glasses of water. :thumbsup2

Marc & I always have one person order and one person find a table. Nothing wrong with that!

Love that the kids meal came with a shovel and bucket, very cute! I love little touches like that.

I'm a big fan of the Disney nuggets, though usually the kids ones are different and they don't look as good.

I'm glad no one here finds that there is anything wrong with it! I know I have read/skimmed debates on the DIS about it. I kinda figured my TR peeps would be cool. :goodvibes It makes complete sense to do it this way. The less people at the counter the better. Back over NYE CHH at MK wouldn't let us get a table without our entire party because it was SO busy in there, but they had a little waiting area off to the side too, so that worked.

I had the kids nuggets later in the week - they are not nearly as tasty. You'd think they would be the same thing. :confused3

What a cute kids meal! We've only eaten there once (back when they had McD's fries) but I thought the theming was really fun!

Can't wait to see pics of Henry's big dig! :goodvibes

The theming in there is a lot of fun! Henry really enjoyed all the dinos.

Looks so good. I am hungry right now and I wish I could just grab that food out of the screen. Another place I would like to try someday. I need more days at Disney just so I can eat more. LOL!

:rotfl: I so understand! I'm running into that even with having 15 days!! Of course there is no way we are doing 15 ADRs - if we did we'd be sick, but maybe just maybe I could get my dining covered. :scratchin

Great update. I am going to put that place on our list for Dec!! I am glad that most of your Grandma's house is going to be ok.

It's really basic eats, nothing spectacular, but not bad at all. The kids meals are such a great value too!

FEMA passed my Grandma's house today - not condemned! :yay:

How cute the kids meal came in a bucket! That reminds me of the good old days when airlines used to serve actual meals...we flew ATA and got our food on a frisbee! hehe And I think the Sci-Fi did that too actually.

I thought it was adorable too! Such a surprise! We had a local restaurant back in MN that served kids meals on a frisbee, it was awesome!

I had never been to that restaurant Seems nice.

It was! It's basic stuff, but it's big, air conditioned and the details are great. Plus free refills.

Oh My Brooke. I am so sorry to hear about all the flooding. How devastating for your family. I will keep them in my prayers. What a difficult time for everyone.

Thank you for your prayers! It has been a rough week. My poor cousin is just a wreck over everything since she can't be there due to her pregnancy. But, they are getting through it!

Okay, I didn't realize they had sweet potato fries. I HEART them! I would have asked for those with my nuggets! Though the veggie sandwich sounds really good too. I'm thinkin' we'll be back here, so that will be on my list!

Thank you for the compliment on Henry. :cutie: He's so funny now and anti-camera, so I gotta sneak it!

Oh my Brook! I'm still praying for all your family and friends! What a terrible situation!

Thank you for your prayers! We are getting some good news about the progress, so it's been better today than the past few.

A Donald Breakfast there would be really fun! Was it a TS then?

The bucket, shovel and dessert really make this kids meal a great value I think. Henry was so excited to bring his bucket and shovel into the dig site!

I'm glad all my TR people don't mind us holding the table - I kinda figured no one would give 2 hoots on these boards. :rotfl: Now if I ventured off the TR boards.... I can't believe what people get heated about on other boards on the DIS!

Thank you so much! My Grandma's house passed with FEMA today, so it's not being condemned, which was GREAT news. I'm waiting for my Mom to post some pics of the house on Facebook. She posted a few of the area, but not much. I so wish I could be there to help.

The drums are so fun - I don't think we have ever stopped because we were either in a hurry for something or they were too busy. Henry is getting braver as he grows up, so I don't mind putting him in a big 'ol bunch of kids now! It was fun though, I am thinkin' he'll want to do that on all future trips!

Thanks for the camera info!!

You'd be surprised what is considered bad form on other boards here on the DIS. I've just skimmed/read some heated debates about it all - some people feel VERY strongly about it. I'm glad my TR people don't! And if they do, they know to just roll with it and let it lie. :thumbsup2 At CHH over NYE they made everyone wait until your entire party was ready with food to be seated, but it was a madhouse everywhere, so it was understandable.

I was surprised at the bucket and shovel - no other Disney CS does that, that I know of. Plus the cookie! It was a great value and just made Henry so happy.

So far updates from family today has been good - the house passed with FEMA and they have all the carpets ripped out. They are starting to clean. :thumbsup2

Great pictures of restaurantsaurus (or however you say it!) I have a vague memory of eating there on my 2003 trip but I think it may have been called something different. I think they actually served McDonalds! But seeing your pictures, it looks nothing like I remember....

Might have to try it next time!

From other posters, yep, they used to serve McDonalds. And I kinda remember that too - though we never ate there. I wish I could remember what it was called...!

It has a really small menu, but the food was good and the bonuses with the bucket and all that just made for a great moment for us. MEK did mention the veggie sandwich and sweet potato fries were delish though too!

Hey Brooke!!!!! :wave2:

I'm always catching up too - no worries! I eventually get caught up, then end up a million pages behind on everyone's reports!

I haven't heard much about Resaurantosaurus either, so I was a tad nervous to try it, but it all was good!! I wish more CS' at AK were air conditioned though!

First of all I'm so sorry to hear about your family and the flooding! I will be keeping them in my prayers! I hope it all works out for them!

Loved your update!!! WOOT WOOT for a great meal and getting a sand bucket and shovel to boot!! That is fantastic!!!!! Pixie dust all over the place!!!!!!!!

Thank you! :goodvibes

We had never really noticed it either, it's set back a bit, so it's not entirely noticeable, which makes me wonder if they are ever really busy?

Thank goodness that the home can be saved. I'm so sorry about the cat, I'm an animal lover too and loosing pets is never something you want to go through. I can only hope that the cat was just not found and it escaped somehow and someone is now taking care of it. I'm a very glass half full kinda gal.

Does FEMA take into consideration that these people have lost everything and they are making them choose within an HOUR??? That is despicable.:sad2:

Prayers will continue.

Hurray for the brightside and an update! Will look forward to it.:goodvibes

I had missed your reply there - sorry about that!

I agree with you on FEMA. It's just nuts that they have one hour to decide. I mean, ya, they do need an answer to and move onto the next house, but really? Can a family sleep on it or something??

Thank you for your prayers!!

We do the same thing too. I know there is talk about here about how you aren't suppose to do that. But it's so much easier with a little one. And as long as it isn't packed, I don't see an issue.

I agree! I don't understand why people get so worked up about it - unless they are taking up a LOT of room and it's crowded. I figured all my TR people wouldn't care - we are so much more low key! :thumbsup2

The bucket and shovel were a very nice surprise - and we still use them often!

Thank you Jen! So far we have gotten some good news. It's just gonna cost a LOT to repair and replace. Hopefully they will get some funding from the government as well.

It really was a magical moment for this family. We were just relaxing and enjoying our meal, little surprises for the little man. :goodvibes

Hey Brook--
We ate at the Restrauntasauros (sp) on our May trip for the first time. We liked it too. I didnt know the kids meals come in the cute bucket. Alexa doesnt eat much at all, and never a whole kids meal by herself, so we just give her bits of our meal. I will have to order her a meal there on our next trip, though, because that bucket is just so cute.
We got to eat in the little camper part....did you see that? It was in a separate section, but a little airstream camper in the building. I have a couple of pics of it:

It was so cute! And we also loved that they had free refills on drinks--especially since it was VERY hot:scared1:

That is ADORABLE!!!!!!! No we didn't see it! Henry would have loved that! I didn't leave the first room, I intended to, but it just never happened. Next time for sure! I love that first pic!

Henry eats off our plates a lot too - but he's a pretty good lunch eater usually, espeically if he hasn't had a snack and that day he hadn't. He PLOWED through all the food! We almost always share for dinner though.

Score on that bucket and shovel!! A happy boy those will make!!!

:thumbsup2

Hi Brook, Magdalene and me actually did some exploring at Restaurantosaurus after our meal and went to every room, luckily it was quite empty. There are so many funny details, I think it is an attrection for itself :)

Hi Brook, what a wonderful surprise with the bucket!! I remember that I recommended Restorantosaurus to you on your PTR and I am glad that you went there!! :goodvibes I wonder wether the bucket is because of the vicinity to the playground? And it actually fits the theme of a canteen for students working on an excavation site. :thumbsup2

On the table issue: I personally get the point why people are against it. If the lines at the register are very long, it might be possible for someone to eat there meal in the time it takes another person to get through the line. So when it is very crowded, people might have difficulties finding a table while others are sitting at one for ages waiting for their food. BUT I would never get into a fight about this issue and absolutely agree with your surprise about how intense these discussions can get on the boards. :confused3 And in your case: if there are plenty of tables, there is certainly no reason for not sitting down while you are waiting for the food!

We only went into the big room and small section off of it, too. I'll have to check out the little trailer room. I guess it's over to the right if you are facing the counter? We just went to the left. It is a nice little hidden gem, since everyone usually thinks of Flame Tree or Pizzafari if they are not doing a Tusker House or Yak & Yeti sit down meal.

Great pictures, Brook. Looking forward to see Henry having fun in The Boneyard.
