Based on our ADRs, should we be on DDP?

For me and DH's Dec trip, I never really looked into the DDP because, well frankly, I was simply unfamiliar with it. And since I started planning in June, my head has been swimming in all things Disney and I can't stop long enough to figure out on my own whether we should be on the DDP, based on our ADRs:

12/6: Lunch @ Earl of Sandwich; Dinner @ Hoop Dee Doo
12/7: Beignets; Lunch w/ Imagineer; Dinner @ Shulas (not part of DDP)
12/8: Lunch @ Mama Melrose; Dinner @ Citricos
12/9: KTTK Lunch; CP @ Marrakesh
12/10: GF Tea; Dinner @ CG
12/11: Lunch @ Yacht Club Galley; Dinner @ Yachtsman Steakhouse
12/12: Lunch @ Coral Reef; Dinner @ Narcoosees
12/13: Main St Bakery; Lunch @ WCC; Dinner @ LTT (MVMCP)
12/14: Breakfast 1900 Park Fare; Dinner @ Flying Fish
12/15: Lunch @ Sci Fi

Hard to say as you would be paying OOP for many of the TS meals since you have quite a few signature restaurants that require 2 TS credits per person dining there and you'll exhaust all of your credits before the trip is over (ie. Narcoosee's, Yachtsmans Steakhouse, Citricos, Hoop de doo all require 2 TS credits per person).

I'm guessing you're there for 9 nights? If so, you would each be starting out with 9 TS credits, 9 CS credits, and 9 snack credits to use during the duration of your trip. Anything over that would have to be paid for out of pocket....

Not sure if that helps at all????

Regardless-have a magical trip! :)

ok ...based on your ADR's you need

21 TS credits per person and you have 8 TS credits to play with. (you're staying 8 nights right)?

You also need 2 CS credits and you will be given 8

You will also be given 8 snack credits which can easily be spent on waters and beverages thorughout the parks.

A very simple way to ball park whether or not this is worth it for you is to do this:

8 bottles of water which are usually 2.50

2.50 X 8
PLUS...

Decide to which resturaunts you would give your 8 TS credits too (I highly reccomend you pick the ones with days that have the CS lunches you need, then spend the rest on either days you will be able to use DDP all day (for ease of remembeirng which are DDP days and which are OOP days OR spending the remaning credits on the most expensive resturants i.e. your 2 TS credit places

Look at the menu's and see what you would honestly order at each place Add up that amount. (use the menus from allears.net)

then add up the amount of days that you would be spending those TS and CS credits X the amount per day for the DDP that you would need. do those 2 numbers match up? There's your answer

here's the example:

you don't want to not use those 2 cs credits you will need.

so lets say you spend your credits on:
12/6, 12/ 10, 12/12, 12/13, and 12/15
what would you order from each of these? add it up!
Earl of Sandwhich 1 cs
Mainstreet Bakery 1cs
Hoop De Do 2 TS
wcc 1 ts
ltt 1ts
coral reef 1 TS
Narcoose's 2 TS
Sci Fi 1 TS

Resulting number here: "A"

you would need the DDP for 5 days total so mulitply 5 times the price of the DDP per day

Resulting number here: "B"

Does A equal B? ....DDP IS WORTH IT, EVEN WITH THE WASTED CS CREDITS

Does A exceed B? ........DDP IS WORTH IT, EVEN WITH THE WASTED CS CREDITS

Does B exceed A? DDP IS NOT WORTH IT

hope this helped!

Your replies definitely helped a lot.

And mcco5543, your thorough analysis is exactly what I need so thanks again for doing the breakdown for me.

We'll just pay OOP and not worry about DDP.

Are you an annual passholder? If you are, you can purchase the Disney Dining Experience Card. The card is 20% off most TS meals, including alcohol. The car is $65 per year for AP holders.

Based on some of the meals you have planned (and can I just say yummy!), you could save quite a bit. Not sire if you have wine or drinks with dinner, but that would save you even more.

You may want to price how much it would be to upgrade one of your passes to an AP and see if it is worth it. If your bill at Narcoossee's is $100 (which is SO easy to do), then you would save $20. Add anything else in there and the savings goes up.

I would say you are not good candidates for the DDP. You have more TS planned than anything else, and lots of signatures. mcco5543 did an excellant job of breaking it down for you.

Aren't Dis'ers great?:goodvibes

Wow, this almost looks like a Logic proof I had back in college!

Whenever my DBF makes fun of me for spending hours on the DISboards, I now have "proof" (*haha* get it? Ok, bad joke.) that Disney is NOT so simple after all!
