Based on bad CM Dinner reviews, should I change ressie to 1900 park fare or CP?!

I toyed with the idea of even getting a dinner reservation at CM because of all the negative reviews of the food, place, dirtiness and all. I understand the characters are good, but we also want a good meal for our money!

so, should I change it to 1900 Park Fare, Crystal Palace or just leave it at Chef Mickeys?!

We will be in Magic Kingdom that day, so we were already planning to leave and go to Contemp. for dinner, so leaving to go to Grand Florid. wouldnt make much of a difference.

We are going with my nieces and nephews, whom are 5,6,&7! Just want the best exper. for them! :D

Opinions are welcome!!

We liked the CP meal much better than 1900 PF. We were very, very disappointed with the quality of food at 1900 Park Fare. CP is right in the park too. Happy Planning. :)

IMO, if your looking for a good meal for the money, none of the character dinner buffets are really worth it and the only dinner buffets that really have somewhat decent food are Biergarten in EC and Boma at AKL. CP dinner has been awful the last 2 visits and the dinner food at 1900 PF and CM is not too good. If you want a character meal that is worth the money, go with one of the character breakfasts. The breakfast food at them is alright and pretty much the same at all the buffets. The breakfasts come down more to which characters you want to see.

Also, take all the reviews you read with a HUGE grain of salt. You have no idea who you are really hearing the reviews from and what other, non meal related factors are going into ones opinion. Maybe the person had a bad day the day they visited or the day they wrote the review. Maybe it was an off day for the restaurant (they all have them). Maybe their expectations were unreachable. You just don't know. For every negative review you read you can find a positive review. I always suggest that people make their own opinions and don't get swayed one way or another based on reviews they read. Obviously, CM drew you in OP, even when you had doubt. Go for it and make up your own opinion. :thumbsup2

I wouldnt put too much stock into reviews. In my experience the food was much better at Chef Mickeys than CP and 1900. I am sure most people here would disagree with me on that. When it comes to the character buffet type meals we usually go convenience and which characters the little one want to see.

We actually have breakfast reservations at Crystal Palace that morning... is it weird to go there twice in one day? Would love to try their dinner too!!

:)We have eaten at all 3 restaurants and much prefer CP & 1900 to CM. As stated previously opinions vary.

We've been to Chef Mickey's 3 times and each time have enjoyed the food very much. Service may vary but we've never had a bad service experience. The buffet area has always been kept neat and clean while we were there.

Now some of the tables take a bit to be cleaned up and it can get loud, but that's the way those character meals go.

You really have to experience it for yourself. Check out the menus and go with the characters and food you think you will enjoy the most.

I would switch CM in a second. We thought everything about it was just plain nasty, unorganized and unappetizing. Crystal Palace was wonderful.....1900 PF, the dinner was better than the breakfast.

Have you considered Ohana's : Lelo and Stitch's Best Friends breakfast at the Poly ?? That might be fun instead of 1900 PF for breakfast....and you'd get characters. :thumbsup2

We've done CP and 1900 for dinner and I thought they were fairly comparable as far as food quality. I will say that we had to wait a REALLY long time past our ADR time at 1900.

We have a ressie at Poly for breakfast :) first day! my favorite breakfast and the kiddos love stich!!!

I didn't think that CM was that bad. We enjoyed the food, although we didn't get that great of a character interaction. However, we're two adults. DH really liked the food though at 1900 Park Fare and we both really liked the 'Ohana breakfast.

I say, you've got some fairly young kids there. You should either leave it at CM or move to CP.

Chef Mickey's is horrid! The Crystal Palace and 1900 Park Fare are similar in quality. Both have on and off nights. Chef Mickeys has been very very bad every time we've been there. And we've been alot...

But... 1900 Park Fare dinner is more fun! The step sisters are a hoot!

I haven't been to Chef Mickey's, but I preferred CP over 1900 PF. For both food and characters.

We visited all three on our last trip. Its buffet food so I don't go in with super high expectations. I liked the food at 1900 but my wife didn't it was just that the variety of food just didn't go with her taste buds. I food at CP and CM are about the same pretty much standard buffet foods but I will say that all 3 places served salmon and my 18month old liked the salmon at all 3 places. I found that CM to be more clean than CP but the character interactions at all 3 places have been great! At CM our daughter loves Donald and he did spend quite a bit of time with her and he came back again for their celebration/party that they have every 45min.

Honestly? All the buffet dinners are nasty! The only one we will eat at is Cape May. The food on the buffets is so salty and just gross.

I would visit the characters in the park and pick a much nicer TS for dinner or just go for breakfast...CP and CM are great for breakfast

I agree. The food at 1900 PF (dinner) was HUGELY disappointing. Even the kids section was awful. The only good thing was the characters. A riot!! Love the step sisters!! Its worth checking out at least once. Chef Mickeys (breakfast) was horrid...quality and selection was bad. Yes, they somehow managed to screw up breakfast the day we visited. I would DEFINITELY pick Crystal Palace. I always had a great meal there! :thumbsup2

The only problem with this is visiting the characters in the park with a 5,6, & 7 yr old, which is what the OP said she has going with her, can be long waits depending on the time of year! We opt for the character meals to see characters that are must see characters for dd. Can I just say I love your dining reports? lol

We found the same thing about 1900 PF dinner. Characters were awesome & funny, food we were not impressed with. CM we've done both breakfast 2x and dinner 2x. We have never liked the food there. We only went more than once each meal because we were with other people who did like to eat there. And, well, Mickey & Donald were there (among others).

I'd say it really depends on what characters the kids most want to see. The food isn't all that good, but if the kids really want to see Mickey and friends then CM is the only place by MK that that is going to be happening.

I would have to say this is right on the mark about 1900; while the character experience was a blast at 1900 PF the food was my least favorite from any of the WDW buffets. But then again, I am not a big fan of buffets and the only two I would recommend are Boma and Biergarten.

As to the OP; if your heart is set on visiting 1900 PF do not let negative opinions change your mind. There are some who enjoy this place and others who don't. I personally enjoy places that get their fair share of bad reviews (Ohana, WCC, CR) and dislike places that are widely loved (Le Cellier, Cape May).
