OK..... NOBODY LAUGH!!!!;)

Has anyone seen his show in Vegas? If so, can you tell me what you thought of it? Do you know where the piano is placed on stage? I bought tickets for the show BEFORE I asked what my fellow Disers thought- hope that wasn't a mistake! Any info would be appreciated. TIA!

I can't help you but I want to say I AM VERY VERY JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!!

They just had a special last night on PBS.....his show from Vegas and it was GREAT!!!! I want to go so so bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OH! That PBS special comes on here on the 12th- I'll have to be sure to watch it. Thanks for the reminder!
The tickets were pretty expensive..... but my kids are all grown and I can splurge on myself now after 26 years of marriage! I got the middle section on the floor- 3rd row aisle seats! I'm really excited to go, but now my "reasonable"om side is coming out and hoping I just didn'twaste a lot of money!

From watching last night- do you remember what side of the stage the piano was on??

I see you live in MI! I use to live in Michigan- not too far from where you are. We lived in South Lyone (west of Detroit about 45 minutes.... by Novi) I miss MI. I'm hoping we can get back there soon!

Believe me...it will NOT be a waste of any amount of money, in my opinion if you are any amount of a Manilow fan!!!

Have you ever saw him in concert before??....He is AWESOME!!! I saw him at the Fox Theatre in Detroit a couple years ago....4th row center!!! It was GREAT!!!!!

If I remember correctly, I think the piano was pretty much in the middle....maybe, just maybe a little to the left when you are looking at the stage....but I think it was really mostly in the middle......

I have heard of South Lyon but have never been there.....

Nope..... never been to one of his concerts before. I have watched the special on DVD that he did from the Koak theatre for CBS a few years ago. It looks good, but a Vegas show could be a totally different show!
Well- hopefully the seats will be ok if they're on the aisle. I think the theatre only holds like 1700 people- so it can't be that big. I wonder if there's something I can compare it to in size? Could you take pics at the Fox theatre? I'm a scrapper- I'd hate to miss an oppurtunity to scrap a good page for this concert! ;)

Does anyone know how many seats are in the Cirque theatre in Orlando?

I brought my camera in with me and got quite a bit of good pics...

You WILL NOT be disappointed at all!! He is so great!! And the PBS show is the Vegas show....the minute is was done, I called my best friend and told her I want to go there for our BD's (we are both turning 40 this year)....It was a really good show.

The Fox was also great since it is such a small venue too....

I've seen Manilow 3 times. I was much younger. Never saw him in Vegas.

He's a better showman than Elton John...who is incredible.

Thanks for the info Lisa. I was able to find out that Cirque theatre holds 1,674 people- so, it's just a tad bit smaller then the stage in Vegas- so.... my seats should be very good. I've been in that Cirque theatre- and every seat in there is good! Now I'm really excited! Too bad I have to wait until November to see it though.

Oh- If you are really seriously thinking about getting tickets for this show, you should do ASAP- they sell out- (You will not be able to get tickets to this if you just show up in Vegas) and the good seats go first. There are lots of places that sell them (Including Scalpers- about $550.00 for seats where mine are) but you want to buy directly from the hotel (LV Hilton)- you'll pay the REAL cost of tickets that way. I called the Hotel directly at 702-732-5111 and ask for the box office. The resorts website offers Hotel/ticket packages, but they will not tell you what seat you'll be assigned to- you have to wait until you get there. If I'm paying $187.00 (and people complain about the price of a ticket into WDW!!!) for a ticket- I'm gonna know where I'm sitting! Besides, you actually come out ahead if you book seperately. I didn't know this when I called, but they have seats that actually sit on the stage here. There's liek a seat a table and a seat- about 3 tables across- 4 rows of tables and chairs. Those tickets cost 225.00. If I had known that, I would've asked about those seats as well. You have to give the box office the dates you want to go and they'll tell you what seats are available. So have multiple dates that you can go ready for when they ask. It took about 8 dates before I came up with tickets that were ok with me. Hope all that info helps. It took me sometime and several phone calls before I figured it out myself! Good luck! Let me know how it goes for you!

I saw Elton John in concert when I was a teenager- his show was fabulous! I guess I'm really in for a great time in Vegas with Barry's show then. GOOD! Thanks!

I watched Barry Manilow on PBS today just a while ago. It looks like the piano is more toward the viewers left.

I am not a fan but he sure does have a good strong voice still, maybe even better than in his younger days. I couldn't help but watch for a little while....and then for a while longer.
Looks like he interacts with the audience too.....lucky you!

WOW! Sounds like the piano placing is moving closer to my side of center! Yippee!! I'm gonna have to be sure and watch this PBS show. Thanks for your view of it! You made me laugh by saying you weren't a fan..... but watched somen... and then some more! :) Those songs just bring back some good memories don't they?? How does he interact with the audience?

Lisa- can you post some of those pics you took at the Fox??? I'd LOVE to see them!

I need to be able to sign in. Can you pm me your sign in info? I need your email and password I guess.

And YOU made me LOL too about being so nervous and taking blurry pics! That is soooooo something I would do!

HOW did I miss this thread??? Most people who know me on the DIS, know how much I LOVE me some Barry Manilow!! :)

You'll have a great time - I was sitting in those seats a few weeks back, and they're great seats.

Here's a link to photos I took while I was there...

If you have any questions, just ask away. I don't know how much you want me to tell...when I get on a roll, I can't be stopped. :teeth:

I agree that the piano is placed toward the middle to left side of the stage. I also watched the PBS special last week and it was incredible. I've seen him about 6 times, DH and I are supposed to go to Vegas this summer to see him. Its our 10 year anniversary, I hate Vegas, he hates Manilow, so we will both give in and do it for each other......Sounds like I better start getting tickets. But maybe I should pay off our June Disney vacation before I start another :rotfl2:

I've seen Barry in Las Vegas (with CookieGVB, in fact) and I had a blast!!! My friend Kimberly and I were in complete "swoon mode" during the 50's set! I never knew I could scream for 1/2 hour without taking a breath.

You'll love, love, love him live!!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

Cookie- I've looked at 3 pics so far and you have got me spinin'!! We're you really in the same seats as the ones we're in and you got those pics?!?!? I'llb e back.... gonna go look at some more!

This is my 1st Barry concert..... but I've researched these like I research WDW! Does he still do CSWY with someone from the audience???

On #46- These are sooooooo good! OMG! I feel like a kid ! ;)

Although I have not been to the Hilton in Vegas yet to see Barry. I have completely lost count of how many times I have seen him. Last I checked, I was at around 50 or 60 shows!!! I fell in love with Barry when I was a kid (and I'm only 33 years old!) and started following him around when I was in college. And Barry picked me to sing Can't Smile at a concert in upstate NY in the early 90's...my life has never been the same since. (I was a Sophomore in college at the time!)

Hands down, he is the best concert showman I have EVER seen and to top it all off he's an amazing songwriter. It's no wonder that his shows in Vegas are sold out all the time. Although I have yet to see the show at the Hilton, I have seen BArry in Vegas at the Mirage, Mandalay Bay and the Aladdin....he never disappoints and if you have seats that are THAT close to the stage, you will NOT be disappointed in the location.

Enjoy the show in November! I'm all excited now....you've all motivated me to get my butt in gear and plan that trip now! :cheer2: :yay:

Take care,
Jackie

I saw part of the Las Vegas special and it rocked. I love him bad face work and all. He really sings great. :thumbsup2
