Barry Manilow Refuses The View because of Rosie?

Ok that one seems a little different and personal to me then Barry's issue IMHO.

Really? A drama show that specializes in murder happened to have a corpse character named Elizabeth Hassenbook, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck refuses to be involved with anyone from the show if they come one the view. How, exactly, is that different from BMs request not to be interviewed by Elisabeth? Sounds pretty much the same to me.

Why should they? She is an employee of their show. Would you say the same thing if a performer only wanted to be interviewed by Sherri and Whoopi because they are black? Essentially it's the exact same thing - a performer making a stupid request based on nothing. Barry Manilow is a big boy - he's there to discuss his record, not the US policies on Iraq. I really don't see the problem with being interviewed by any of the women on the show in regards to where he gets his song ideas, who his favorite band was growing up, what the biggest influence on his life was, etc etc etc.

:thumbsup2 Looks to me like Barry needs to grow up and ditch the temper tantrum.

Yes REALLY. Arent I entitled to my opinion? Probably not since I am conservative. I see it differently sorry if you dont agree.

I see one as a creepy representation of her character and another acting like a diva unprofessional who as other stated probably just alienated some of his fan base (like me) bc he cant get over someone having a difference of opinion! Act like a grownup go and be interviewed and be done with it. If you stand behind your stance, and it is brought up then defend it, no need to run from it.

I hate when actors and entertainers express their views, most of the time I dont want to know, I want them to just do their job, act or sing or whatever. I dont need to know the views of everyone I deal with.

I don't see it as a conservative or liberal issue at all, sorry if you do.

I think it is just as diva and childish for Elisabeth to hold an unprofessional grudge because a TV Crime Drama has a fictional character (a corpse) named Elizabeth Hassenbook as it was for Barry to withdraw at the last minute because his request to not be interviewed by Hasselbeck wasn't honored.

I don't see why one is considered Okie Dokie, and the other a spoiled brat.

BTW, here is a link to the People Magazine article about the Law & Order show.

It seems that the show could easily have accommodated his request, though, by simply trying to schedule his segment on a day when Elisabeth was off on a personal day...she will be in the hospital or awhile to have a baby, I assume.

And in many of the interview segments, the only have 2 hosts doing the interview, usually Elisabeth and someone else...so what would be the big deal if they had two of the other hosts instead of Elisabeth?

I'm sure they don't want to start letting the guests dicate the show and who does their interviews. I mean if they do it for Barry, then who is gonna ask next? As for scheduling it around Elizabeth's off day, Barry was scheduled to come on the day of his new album release...I mean the point of it is for him to promote the album.

Susan Sarandon and Martin Sheen both appeared on the show and managed to be professional with Elisabeth despite having drastically different political views. I think Barry did this as a statement but I think it just makes him look unprofessional and intolerant.
They're fame "hunters" & just as nutty politically.

The issue isn't that Barry is part of the 15% liberal lunatic fringe......the issue is that Barry(& the rest of us 70%ers) don't believe the OTHER 15% (right wing) lunatic fringe (that still supports the the war) should be given mainstream access.

Elizabeth Whateverhernameis should go away (or go to Fox). Her views are as relevent to 2007 as my 8 track tape collection is. Good for you Barry. :thumbsup2

Then we will have to agree to disagree. Sorry if I misinterpreted your intent about the liberal vs conservative.

After reading the article, I feel even more creeped out by what L&O did so yes I still see it differently.

I see one being political (BM) and one being extremely creepy (L&O). I think I would be disturbed by what they did. I dont know why BM is distrurbed that someone may have a different viewpoint.

So if you support the war, you're part of the lunatic fringe :sad2: and shoudn't even have mainstream access. :sad2:

More "tolerance" :sad2:

You got to be kidding me! Her views have as much right to mainstream access as anyone else's whehter you agree with her or not.

It is a shame mainstream TV doesnt show a more wide array of views maybe it would be a MORE accurate reflection of America and how EVERYONE thinks.

Yeah good for you Barry for being an intolerant person who only thinks their view is the right view, good for you Barry for being so open minded and you too poster!

Giving PROPS to Barry....I hate Elizabeth.:lmao:

Or in the immortal words of Rhett Butler....."Frankly Scarlett, I don't give a damn."

But we don't know if that is the reason BM didn't want EH to be in on the interview. There is no reason given in the statement he wrote saying he wasn't going to be on the view, other than he requested NOT to be interviewed by EH and the producers wouldn't compy with the request. Any reason for the request is purely speculation on our part.

That smacks of censorship. I think everyone should have an opportunity to be heard, even those I disagree with.
I didn't say it properly. Her point of view deserves to be heard IN CONTEXT.

Place her chair over on the other side of the stage & bring her over a couple of times an hour to give her opinion on school prayer & stuff.

My point is that her ilk is often given "the other point of view" chair.

This is NOW factually inaccuarate.

- One point of view is the troops should come home NOW.

- "the other point of view" is the troops should come home over a 6-9 month period.

the other 15%'s opinion is a radical fringe strategy that is killing 130 American soldiers & wasting 30 Billion (with a B) Dollars a month.

Barry is correct in not wanting to speak with someone who's fringe (15%) point of view is to keep the troops over their indefinitely with no Strategic plan. Nor any plan to replace the troops (who are slated to remain over there indefinitely). Hasselhoser & Bush and a few posters here are the only folks who consider this a logical or viable option at this point.

She has a constitutional right to express her opinion. But fewer & fewer people care to hear it.

Not frightening to me one bit. Refreshing at times compared to the diva drivel from Rosie.

The issue isn't Rosie (isn't she un-employed??).....the issue is Hasselhump, (who should be).

Wow that is all I am going to say to you. You are just rude. I guess it is fun being you and calling people names huh?

My post is similar to your post (which ironically i had quoted). Why are you calling me rude? I'm expressing an opinion (something you claimed in a previous post you want to hear - opinions from all points of view).

My post is similar to your post (which is just above mine). Why are you calling me rude?

because of your name calling. the lady has a name you should use it instead of calling her silly names. As far as I recall I didnt call anyone names. I used intials etc.

Plus I just cant fathom how you think she should be put in a corner and not allowed to express her view.

He did record a duet with Rosie for this album, "Don't Go Breakin' My Heart", the Elton John & Kiki Dee song from the 70's. But I don't think it made the final cut.

I think it is due to his friendship with Rosie. Surely Elisabeth isn't going to bring up political questions in his interview or state her conservative views, it would just be a "fluff" interview.

Since you edited yes I do want to hear from ALL points of view and I think they should be given mainstream access but I dont resort to calling those I disagree with names. I disagree with their message and tatics but I dont go around butchering thier names, that is rude.

Interesting "facts."

And if people feel that way about your posts, are you going to the "chair"?

I think this says alot about the state of the country right now. People are just so sick and tired of the politics that they are making personal stands they many not have made in the past. EH politics are so blaintant and rude at this point people just dont want to deal with her anymore, ever BW hushed her the other day when she was talking about monica lewenski.

Anybody with a brain in their head that followed the view when rosie was there could see that the viewmaster with his mouthpiece poor litttle pregnant elizabeth was going to do his best to try to destroy her once she didnt sign on to play in the sandbox for another year. Since she has gone EH has made lame attempts to pick fights with anybody that does not agree with her politics.

Honestly I think its all pretty lame, I dont care about EH or any of them think. If barry doesnt want to go on the show cause hes repulsed by elizabeth for her politics or what she did to his friend, good for him. Alicia silverstone snubbed EH when she was on too.

Which brings me to my original point that the country is so divided and fed up with the political climate right now they are just plain angry at each other cause of politics. Thats sad. We have our currant president to thank for that, and to think he was going to bring us all together.
