Barry Manilow Refuses The View because of Rosie?

Interesting "facts."

And if people feel that way about your posts, are you going to the "chair"?

I've been in that "chair" all my life.

Being a fiscal conservative & a social liberal (i want government out of the boardroom AND the bedroom). I'm part of the 40% that the two parties fight for each election. Both parties abandoned me (but especially the GOP aka the Fiscally Irresponsible, legislate what goes on behind closed doors, "Bring it On", crowd.)

I'm just stating the fact that only 15% (& it continues to dwindle) at this point support POTUS's War in Iraq leadership effort (can't call it a strategy). POTUS has the bully pulpit (& uses it) & it is his right, as he earned it in '04 (barely).

But, Hasselmouthpiece's opinion is so fringe at this point, that she should PAY for the priviledge of stating it on TV. Or just put her over in "THAT" chair. We can put another chair over there next to her with Martin Sheen in it & the two of them can discuss why no one considers either one of them relevant anymore.

I think this says alot about the state of the country right now. People are just so sick and tired of the politics that they are making personal stands they many not have made in the past. EH politics are so blaintant and rude at this point people just dont want to deal with her anymore, ever BW hushed her the other day when she was talking about monica lewenski.

Anybody with a brain in their head that followed the view when rosie was there could see that the viewmaster with his mouthpiece poor litttle pregnant elizabeth was going to do his best to try to destroy her once she didnt sign on to play in the sandbox for another year. Since she has gone EH has made lame attempts to pick fights with anybody that does not agree with her politics.

Honestly I think its all pretty lame, I dont care about EH or any of them think. If barry doesnt want to go on the show cause hes repulsed by elizabeth for her politics or what she did to his friend, good for him. Alicia silverstone snubbed EH when she was on too.

Which brings me to my original point that the country is so divided and fed up with the political climate right now they are just plain angry at each other cause of politics. Thats sad. We have our currant president to thank for that, and to think he was going to bring us all together.

People don't want to be together -- they'd rather argue -- no matter who is President.

Supporting the war in Iraq is not fringe and support has recently increased.

Call it quick....BM may get his feelings hurt.

We'll have to agree to disagree. Supporting the war in Iraq at this time is a fringe position.

Supporting air or special forces strikes on terrorists in the mountains between Pakistan & Afghanistan (& bringing the rest of the troops home) would be a majority position.

Manilow is a whining cry baby. And his music is crap. Except of course for Copa Cabana.....

because of your name calling. the lady has a name you should use it instead of calling her silly names. As far as I recall I didnt call anyone names. I used intials etc.

Plus I just cant fathom how you think she should be put in a corner and not allowed to express her view.
Didn't realize the use of "silly" names was rude. I didn't meant for it to be. I don't know how to spell her name & figured I'd have fun. She's a public person (as Rosie the "driveler" is.....now that's funny.. :lmao: ). I would never purposely do this to a dis poster (which would be rude). And obviously all disers have a right to their opinion. I just think Hasselback has had her 15 minutes and should just go away (& probably get hired by fox).

Regarding "sitting in the corner".....lets call it the kiddie table. She, Martin Sheen & Rosie the driveler (if she ever comes back) can sit at the kiddie table. Either that, or lets just cancel the view altogether. :)

I completly disagree, and just for the record I think clinton was no great president as well. But he didnt cause the anger this one has. I dont blindly support any party.

Im missing something here, I have never heard BM's name mentioned before when it came to politics. I dont get why hes now this horrible whinning baby cause he doesnt want to be interviewed by a super conservative mouthpiece that has a track record of attacking anybody that she politicaly disagrees with? Your politics are showing disers

That's incorrect Joe. This country is very divided and it feels like we jumped back in time to the late 60's. It's not quite that bad yet, but anyone with a shred of honesty has to admit that hard feelings are very close to the surface. This poorly planned war has pitted American against fellow American and is more than just normal disagreements over politics and what party you vote for. The President who ran as the "great uniter" in 2000, has had a big hand in all of this anger, whether you admit it or not Joe.

I actually find myself longing for the days when Clinton was smack dab in the middle of the Lewinsky scandal. As bad as it was, at least people weren't dying over it and we weren't running up a huge deficit. The barbs and attacks seemed harmless to what's going on now. People are really upset over this war, how it was planned, how it was carried out, and the end result we have now. It just isn't liberals or the Democrats, Joe, it's people from all walks of life. I have seen life long Republicans drop party affiliation over this, myself included. One day Joe, you might see that it just isn't the fringe who are angry over what's going on. Posting terms like "No surrender" or "Stay the course" isn't going to help bring America together. We, as in America, need some closure to this debacle really soon. Another two years of this kind of anger stemming from this war, will hurt America more than the terrorists can only hope for. Think about it.

He was promoting an album... I doubt Elisabeth would have brought politics up. :confused3

The days of Clinton?? He is part of the reason we have the mess we have. I'm sure not longing for those days. I support the President in what he is doing. No anger here.

I think the point is that Barry is backing up a friend (Rosie). Wouldn't we all love to have a friend that would go to bat for us, I know I would.

I think that Barry was just being a good friend!!!

K in SA

If the CB does not get one Rosie thread per week it will self destruct..I thank
Kribit for saving this board

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I do miss the 'old' days when there were 3 Rosie threads on any given day!

BTW......If anybody cares. Rosie has a book coming out and Howard Stern says he will like too make up with her!!!! I think she will be on his show when the book comes out!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

She would do whatever bill geddes told her to do. Regaurdless of that point just the fact that she is who she is makes it so he does not want to be interviewed by her. still not sure why that makes him a baby

SERIOUSLY???? She is STILL (in 2007) talking about Monica??? :scared1: Boy is she topical!:sad2:

Hey there Unc,

Heres what I could find on it quickly im sure its on youtube somewhere as well

A 'View' Choice Words (Babrara Walters Freaks On Air At Mention of Monica Lewinski) [my title}
New York Post ^ | DON KAPLAN

Posted on 09/13/2007 7:24:21 PM PDT by MindBender26

THE new cast of women on "The View" waited just three days for their first knock-down fight.

The verbal brawl surprisingly included typically staid Barbara Walters briefly losing her temper with co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck - before pulling herself together and calming down.

The outburst began when Hasselbeck mentioned Monica Lewinsky in a discussion about presidential candidate Mitt Romney's Mormon religion and how a small sect of Mormons still practice polygamy.

The Monica reference triggered an avalanche of reaction from Whoopi Goldberg - and then Barbara.

"This is a good woman who has gotten a masters degree at the London School of Economics!" raged Walters, poking her finger at Hasselbeck's face. She pulled her hand back suddenly, took a flustered breath, and continued in a calmer tone.

"She's doing her best to have a life. Enough with Monica, everybody can move on."

Goldberg requested that Hasselbeck - a conservative who famously clashed with Rosie O'Donnell last season - not bring Lewinsky up again.

"I'm asking you to do me a favor because there's no reason for it today," Goldberg said. "This has nothing to do with Bill Clinton."

Goldberg is a longstanding friend and fundraiser for the Clintons.

Hasselbeck justified mentioning Lewinsky because the women were joking about Romney announcing he had a second wife.

"You're worried if some other woman would come out of the closet as the 'other woman,' " Hasselbeck sputtered. "It's not that much of a jump" to Monica.

"We've seen that before where another woman popped up" in the White House, she said

She is one of the more annoying people on television today. Her political views are almost frightening. She is a self absorbed pompous little diva.

To me you just described Rosie, except add mean, just down right mean.

UGH! But sooooooooooooooooooo flippen typical!

I agree with him 100%. Why should he have to subject himself to her rantings?

Tom Seleck sat through Rosie's rantings about gun control. Manilow is just afraid, and isn't a man in my book.
He wants to be surrounded by "yes women", with people who'll agree with everything he says. Poor guy.
