Bargain Betty and Workaholic Starring In:What Are You, A Disney Expert?

Ouch your feet sound like they were in terrible shape :( So glad to hear that Catlin was OK and that her Ex turned out to be very lucky . Off Kilter and the other performing group sound like they both put on a great show .

Can't wait to hear about your next adventure !

Yes my feet were a mess. I've never had blisters that bad before!

Thank you! It was an enormous relief that she was ok!

The live performances were great and good stress reducers too!

In our next adventure, we'll be going to the MK and you'll hear the story of how our title came to be...

I'm glad "R" is OK. How awful to be so far from home and get a call like that from your daughter! Your evening of listening to the music sounded lovely!

Thank you. No matter how old our kids get we want to be there when they need us! The ironic thing was Caitlin is such a good driver we were really shocked to hear her say "accident". In her 2+ years of driving she's never had a ticket or accident (THANKFULLY) so it was completely unexpected! The music was lovely and did help us relax!

Here is a short update about how our Tuesday began...
For some reason the next morning I woke up before 5:00am :confused3 You'd think with the stress of the previous day and my badly blistered feet that I would have slept late but I was "too excited to sleep"! This was the day we'd be going to the MK and to our very first MNSSHP! :woohoo:So at 5 I got up and started getting ready for our day. ( I know I'm crazy and would not get up that early at home!) Dale got up around 5:30 and we were both ready by 6:00 am. We decided that would be the perfect opportunity to take a walk around the perimeter of Pop. We needed to find Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head since we'd missed that on our list from Sunday's scavenger hunt. So I put on my trusty Nikes instead of those horrible crocs and off we went in the darkness looking for those beloved spuds...

As we walked we encountered the year of Dale's birth

vacation2009178.jpg

(I was suprised that was the year of "The Twist". I thought that was from the 50's)

My birth year was missing but we did find the year I graduated highschool

vacation2009180.jpg

(Who doesn't love Thriller?)

As we continued on in the darkness we eventually discovered the objects of our quest...

I love the foosball guys and the Mickey phone in the 70's! I wanted one of those phones so bad when I was a kid!

vacation2009188.jpg

The computer in the 80's/90's is cool because it has Disney icons and info. See the Mickey head wallpaper?

vacation2009186.jpg

And who doesn't love this guy?

When we got around to the Classic Hall it was almost 7:00 and we were getting hungry but we had an 8:30 adr at Whispering Canyon. We decided to just get a "snack" to tide us over til then. Dale chose a bagel and I chose a crumb cake.

vacation2009194.jpg

(Aren't the Halloween napkins cute?!)

I only ate about half of mine since it was dry and I THOUGHT we were going to WCC. While Dale finished his I got up and did the 7am "TWIST TIME". So fun! When I sat down, he was done with his bagel and said he wanted to skip WCC since he was full (not much of a breakfast eater) I was still hungry though so I got a side of breakfast potatos to fill me up. (We would later have extra meal credits since we didn't use any for this meal only 3 snack credits) After I finished eating we went back to the room to drop off our mugs and watch some morning news before we caught the 8:30 bus to the MK :yay:

Up next...MK day with an adr at the Plaza popcorn::

Wow....I must have checked your TR for an update right before you posted this! Fun update....I really wish I could see your pics! But that will need to wait until tonight.

I was looking forward to hearing about the WCC breakfast. I heard that's really good.

OK - Looking forward to your day at MK. Don't you miss it already?

I have to admit I was not thrilled that Dale bailed on breakfast. I prefer to eat a nice breakfast and a late lunch over a big dinner so I made breakfast adrs daily and we missed two. (after I spent months perfecting those adrs! :rolleyes1)

I do miss WDW and can't wait to go back! Caitlin really has the itch and would love to go back for Christmas, we were there last Dec, but we don't really have the money for a THIRD trip this year. But 2010, here we come!:rotfl:

I hear ya'. I had three trips in 2008 and it felt a tad excessive. I am holding at two for 2009 and 2010, but once 2011 rolls around....who knows?

Cool pictures from your walk! It was still dark outside! :rotfl:

That's too bad about breakfast; I would have been bummed, too!

It was really dark! The only people we saw during all whole walk were a couple maintenance guys who looked at us like we were crazy! :rotfl: I was a little bummed about breakfast but it's impossible to get too bummed at WDW! :) (except when it's time to leave!)

You already know we were up very early (before the sun) and excited to see the MK all decorated for fall. My plan for the day was to..

1.See the newly remodeled Hall of Presidents
2.Lunch at the Plaza (we'd never been before)
3.Get a lot of pics of Toon Town since it may be gone by our next visit
4. Be back to the hotel by 3:00 to rest before MNSSHP

About 8:15 we headed to the Pop bus stop to make sure we'd be at the MK for rope drop. I :lovestruc RD at MK! When I see that train pull up with Mickey and the gang I am suddenly transformed into the 6 yr old little girl I was the first time I visited and I always tear up. (Yes I am a sap)

Almost as soon as we stepped off the bus Dale started snapping pics

When we got inside I knew exactly what I wanted to do first...ride the TROLLEY! We did this in May and I fell in love. Being on that first trolley down Main Street is the best. I think it feel like being in the Main Street parade as the crowd parts and waves and I love it! :rotfl: When we got to the Trolley stop it wasn't there yet so Dale took pics of the scarecrows while we waited...

Dale finished his photoshoot with the scarecrows just as the trolley arrived. We climbed in the front seat and had a nice chat with the driver who told us this was the best ride in the park and I told her I totally agreed! The trolley drops off in front of the castle and Dale noticed these statues around the hub....

We then headed toward Adventureland. Our first stop was the Jungle Cruise. We boarded the very first cruise of the day and had a fun driver who had great timing with all those corny old jokes.

Our next stop was here
vacation2009221.jpg

but we were disappointed to discover Capt. Sparrow and his crew weren't taking passengers just yet. We decided to head over to Splash Mountain and get fast passes to use later on in the day. As we approached we noticed that every time the log went down the drop it created a rainbow and it was beautiful! Maybe this happens all the time but we had never noticed before!

vacation2009232.jpg

(If you look closely you can sort of see the rainbow in the middle of the pic)

vacation2009233.jpg

(we needed a pic of these guys for the day's scavenger hunt)

We grabbed fp and headed over to Thunder Mountain and walked right on!
vacation2009235.jpg

When we got off BTMR we were already getting hungry (if we had eaten at WCC we wouldn't have been) so we grabbed a bucket of popcorn and a Coke and got in line for the Hall of Presidents. I loved the new version. The whole presentation is updated and extremely moving. I really enjoyed the expanded role given to Abraham Lincoln and President Obama's likeness is very good! The film,at the end, includes recent events like Oklahoma City and 9/11 and I was in tears by the time it was over. We had looked forward to seeing it and I was so glad it did not disappoint!

Since we were in the area we decided to pay the Haunted Mansion a visit

DSC_0293.jpg

and then we headed over to Fantasyland.

Our first stop in Fantastyland was my childhood favorite, It's a Small World.
This ride may drive some people crazy, including members of my own family, but I love it! There was no wait and we walked right on!

After our visit with the world's children we were going to ride Peter Pan but it had a 20 minute wait, which I know is short for PP, but we decided to grab fast passes since everything else was still a walk on. Not waiting proved to be a good decision because we then walked right into Philharmagic moments before the movie began.

vacation2009241.jpg

I love Philharmagic and it is always a must do for our family!

We looked around the shop when we were finished hoping to find Caitlin a Donald travel mug but we discovered there is a real lacking of Donald merchandise. I guess he's not that popular anymore? (After searching all the stores throughout WDW we ended up having to settle with one that had all the characters.)

We were having a great time and enjoying walking onto everything so we decided to pay a visit to the fairest one of all. We got in line for Snow White's ride behind a woman and a little girl. The line was really short and the posted wait was 5 minutes. As we're standing there, the woman is joined by another woman and a little boy who sneak under the chain. It wasn't a big deal to me but then a whole other family joins them! A family of 4 sneaks under the chain to get with them. When they did that I must have looked at Dale and rolled my eyes or something (I'm very non-confrontational and would NEVER say anything) and the guy confronts me! He looked at me and said "I'm with them. What's your problem?" I replied that I knew he was with them but "park etiquette is that you don't get in line until your whole party is together." He then seemed to quickly anger that I spoke to him and got loud saying "This is my family" and I calmly repeated the exact same thing I had already said. The women with him looked extremely embarassed and I later learned Dale was afraid the guy might hit one of us. He then replied that he has a baby and why should he have to wait while holding a baby. This made very little sense to me since most folks at WDW do have small children with them but I refrained from mentioning that to him. ( I also didn't mention that the wait was only 5 MINUTES!) Instead I repeated myself one last time and his reply stuck with me and would become the title of this trip report....his reply was "What are you, a Disney Expert?" Now my fellow Dissers, what would you say if you were asked that? I looked him in the eye and said, "As a matter of fact I am":rotfl: I thought Dale was going to crack up! I think the man believed me too because he turned around and shut up. I knew right then that question would have to be our TR title!

After our excitement at Snow White we thought a relaxing tour of Toon Town was in order......

This post is getting very long so I am going to stop here. Next up will be our lunch and the afternoon parade!popcorn::

Dawn....

What great updates! You pictures are so crystal clear. They are beautiful! I am really disturbed by the man who started giving you crap in line. I like the way you stood your ground. Dale was probably thinking  ..."what is she doing?" I think its so funny that he asked if you were a Disney expert. And, well, Of course you are!

I really do hate when people butt in line like that. It happened to us in June when about 10 people butted in front of us to catch up to the four who had gotten in line before us. Uggggghhhhhh! It just makes my blood boil!

Anway - love the update. Thank!

Thanks Mary Ellen! We are really pleased with the new camera. (I don't know how to re-size or photoshop pics so what I post is just what the camera took)

As for the guy in line, I did not want a fight but I felt the need to stand my ground and not be bullied. At the same time I kept thinking that the posted wait was only 5 minutes! Who cuts in a line and picks a fight over a ride that is basically a walk on? :confused3 Here's hoping that next year nobody cuts in front of either of us! :goodvibes

BTW - I forgot to mention how much I love that rainbow over Splash Mtn. That is a cool pic and one you should enter for a photo contest. I have not seen that before!

Thank you! The rainbow in front of SM was gorgeous and Dale took several pics trying to capture it!

I love that you caught that rainbow on Splash--very cool! As far as the guy at Snow White...I'm like you and absolutely hate confrontation. You handled it great and thought quick on your feet! :thumbsup2

Just found your trip report, and I'm all caught up. Great job. I'm really enjoying it so far.

Can't believe you guys actually got to see Megara. I saw some people getting lined up for some sort of meet-and-greet in that same spot when I was there in August and I'm really kicking myself now for not checking what character was coming out. :headache:

What is it about that Snow White ride? I have people jump in front of me too last time. Weird.
