Bargain Betty and Workaholic Starring In:What Are You, A Disney Expert?

I love that you caught that rainbow on Splash--very cool! As far as the guy at Snow White...I'm like you and absolutely hate confrontation. You handled it great and thought quick on your feet! :thumbsup2

The rainbow was beautiful but Dale was disappointed he couldn't capture it better. It was lovely to watch it re-appear each time the log ride plunged!

I do hate confrontation and really try to avoid it but sometimes you have to speak up, so thank you!

Just found your trip report, and I'm all caught up. Great job. I'm really enjoying it so far.

Can't believe you guys actually got to see Megara. I saw some people getting lined up for some sort of meet-and-greet in that same spot when I was there in August and I'm really kicking myself now for not checking what character was coming out. :headache:

What is it about that Snow White ride? I have people jump in front of me too last time. Weird.

Hi Meeko! :) I'm glad you're enjoying the report!
We were excited to see Megara. We're like little kids and get really excited meeting hard to find characters! (In May we were super excited to meet Snow White's Evil Queen!)

I have no idea why some people want to line jump :confused3 and for kiddie rides really!

Great early morning pictures of POP . I love all the pictures of the Fall decorations . I can't believe that guy in the Snow White line , I'm glad you are not confrontational , cause I totally am , I would have ripped him a new one ! LOL It's neat though that he gave you , your title :) Can't wait to read more .popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::

Theres my mom always stirring up trouble ;):lmao:

I remember laughing so hard after you sent me a text about that

The fall decorations were great and I'm glad you liked the pics! The Snow White guy was something but at least we were able to laugh about it!

Theres my mom always stirring up trouble ;):lmao:

I remember laughing so hard after you sent me a text about that

I think I texted you almost immediately after it happened because I knew you'd find it hilarious!

Very cool updates! I would have loved to see that guy's face when you said "why, yes, I am"..I would bet it was priceless. I don't get people who act like that, but I think it's ten times worse when their kids are there, way to set a good example!

Very neat rainbow, we'll have to look for that when we're there, Piper would love it. Looking forward to the next installment :)

Thanks! Yes he did look pretty shocked when I said that and it was all Dale and I could do to keep from busting out laughing! :rotfl: The rainbow was so gorgeous! I guess it was just caused by the positioning of the sun? It was probably between 9:30 and 10am if you want to try and catch it.

I just spotted your PTR link and I'm heading over to check it out :thumbsup2

When I left off we had just toured Toon Town. We thought this would be a good time to start working on the days Scavenger Hunt and for that we needed to head toward the front of the park. Our first assignment was to be in a Canine Crunchies commercial...everybody know where you can do that?

On our way, we noticed the display in the store window (can't think of it's name) behind the castle had changed. It was really cute and had Donald and the nephews

vacation2009272.jpg

Dale also got a shot of the castle from a different angle

vacation2009274.jpg

We were headed, back to the very front of the park,

vacation2009303.jpg

to Exposition Hall. As we were walking in a couple of very famous movie stars were walking out...

vacation2009282.jpg

vacation2009283.jpg

As we entered the building, we passed Tony's

vacation2009296.jpg

and Dale asked me why we never eat there. I told him that no one on the Dis seems to like it and I only hear bad reviews. He told me that he wanted to try it so I told him to see if they were taking walk ups or how long the wait would be. (it was almost 12 and we had a 1:00 adr at the Plaza but I was willing to switch) He walked up and asked about the wait and was told it would be "about 5 minutes". (So yes kids you can get walk ups even during free dining:thumbsup2) The hostess wished us "Happy Anniversary" and gave us a pager that went off in less then 5 minutes!
We were lead to a table, with a view of Main Street, that had been decorated for our anniversary.

vacation2009284.jpg

Our server was named Rebecca and she was wonderful! She was extremely attentive and personable and one of the best servers on our trip! Since we were on the Deluxe plan we got appetizers so we started with the Mozzarella Tomato Salad and the Bruschetta. Both were delicious and tasted very fresh!

vacation2009286.jpg

(We forgot to take a pic before we split them up)

For our entrees, Dale ordered the Shrimp Scampi while I went the traditional route with the Spaghetti and Meatballs. We were both very pleased with our meals which would have been big enough to share!

vacation2009287.jpg

While we were waiting for our desserts, Move It Shake It Celebrate It was performed right outside the window and we were able to enjoy the parade from our seats. Throughout the meal Dale kept saying that the Dis had it wrong and he loved Tony's! In fact, it is the only place from this trip that he is insisting we do again next time!

Finally our desserts arrived and Dale had the Tiramisu while I enjoyed the Lemon Walnut Layer Cake. It was a wonderful meal with great food and great service!
vacation2009289.jpg

On the way out Dale got a shot of Lady and the Tramp
vacation2009285.jpg

We then headed to the back of Exposition Hall to get some special shots..

vacation2009295.jpg

(me doing my best Susan B. Anthony)

This area has some fun pic spots and it was empty! If you need a cool and quiet place to cool off this is it! They show old black and white cartoons too!

When we left Exposition Hall we walked outside and noticed a checkers game in front of the Chapeau store so we sat down and played a game. We never play checkers but it was something different and fun to do and I must add that, yours truly won!

We decided to head towards Tomorrowland and on the way we passed the Dapper Dan's. They were putting on a little show outside the Plaza and we stopped and enjoyed the show.

vacation2009300.jpg

Our first stop in Tomorrowland was Monsters Inc. Every time we go I hope Dale will get picked to be "that guy" but it never happens. It didn't happen this time either but we did see a different show than we normally do so that was cool!

Our next stop was Buzz Lightyear and it was a walk on! It was nearly 2pm and a walk on! We ended up riding 3 times in a row!

vacation2009301.jpg

After we'd had our fill of Buzz we decided to go to Caitlin's least favorite attraction since we always skip it in deference to her. I know she's just one of many people who hate this ride but Dale and I kind of like it. What am I referring to.....Stitch of course! I didn't get to really enjoy it though because my seat wasn't working right so I didn't get any of the "effects".

When we left Stitch I realized it was getting late and if we were going to get a rest before MNSSHP we needed to get going. As we headed toward the exit though we saw everyone lined up for the parade since it was almost 3. Hmmm what to do? Watch the parade or leave? Yeah we stayed and watched. We found a nice spot under a tree in front of Tony's that was perfect!

Here are some parade photos.....

vacation2009321.jpg

vacation2009324.jpg

By the time we ended up leaving it was almost 4:00 and people were already arriving, in costume, for the party.

vacation2009331.jpg

We got back to Pop and Dale took a nap while I called my mom. When he woke up it was time to book BOUNCEBACK! :woohoo:
I knew it would be hard for me to attend my first MNSSHP without Caitlin so I wanted to be able to go knowing she'd be with us next year! He called and got my first choice in dates with the free dining. We will be going back next year for less than the 4/3 deal cost us! :yay: We'll be there the first week of Sept.2010 and we'll be attending the first MNSSHP of the season! I think I've mentioned I love WDW in the Spring and the Flower Fest but we wanted to wait to go until that other park opens the Harry Potter section so we can do both. So now we just have another, 295 days...until we return to WDW and Coronado Springs my absolute favorite mod!

That's all for now. Up next, Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party!

Great update. Again, love all the pics!

It's nice to hear a good review for Tony's. We went years ago and never felt the need to go back. The food looks and sounds a lot better now though. Perhaps we might have to try it again sometime.

Oh, and the shop near the Castle is Sir Mickeys. They always have some of the neatest little displays inside and out.

Thank you for the pic compliment! I just checked out your link to your pictures and they are GORGEOUS! :worship:

I know a lot of people don't like Tony's but we really enjoyed it!

That's it..Sir Mickey's! Thank you! I couldn't remember the name and was too lazy to look it up on All Ears website :rotfl:

I love the conversation that inspired the title of the TR!
That was awesome of you to stand your ground and keep repeating your line nice and calmly.

The Toontown pics with noone around were great too.
Especially Pete's Garage which is now a "must do" for us every year.
There's always at least one emergency "potty dance" every time we go to Toontown so I know it all too well. :confused3

Great TR so far and looking forward to your take on MNSSHP so we can compare notes!!

We've always avoided Tony's for the same reasons.
I've heard nothing but bad things about it - especially for those who like good Italian food.
Did it taste like Chef Boyardee or chain restaurants as people have said?

I'm glad you ended up liking Tony's. We ate there in 2007 against recommendations from the DIS, and we liked it, too.

Woo Hoo!

I've found that the Dis is a great source of information on Disney but you have to sort of take some of the reviews with a grain of salt. Glad to hear we aren't the only ones who liked Tony's! And the bounceback deal is :banana:!

Thank you! After that whole "incident" I told Dale that my pals on the Dis would get a laugh out of it since they are all "Disney experts" too!:rotfl:

We tried to take extra pics of ToonTown since it will be gone soon, so I'm glad you liked them!

The party will be coming up in the next installment so we can compare!

We found the food at Tony's to be very fresh and flavorful. Dale felt it was much better than Mama Melrose's and Tutto but everyone has their own opinion.(We also found the service to be among the best in WDW too :))

Wow.
We tried Mama Melrose this time and loved it.
If you rate Tony's higher, we may have to try it out next time...

Too bad you missed Plaza though - we love that place.
Great sandwiches in a great location!

Caitlin loves the seafood diavolo at Mama's but Dale and I weren't big fans.

I still want to try the Plaza but since we were on the deluxe plan it seemed like Tony's gave us more bang for our buck :)

After booking Bounceback :yay: we got changed into our party clothes and around 5:00 we headed to the Pop bus stop. While we were in line I suddenly remembered that I had left our party "plan" in the room! I really didn't want to go all the way back to the room and the bus was pulling up so I decided to just leave it even though I had been working on that plan for weeks using all the info from the party thread. I THOUGHT I'd just remember everything. As it turned out...not so much.
As we headed down Main Street the "Move It" parade was going on and we joined in on the fun. I was in the street shaking my tail feather with Donald!

vacation2009342.jpg

Dale then had to get a pic of Walt and Mickey

vacation2009348.jpg

Our next stop was POTC. We hadn't been able to ride earlier and I wanted to visit Captain Jack in case it was busy during the party. After sailing the Carribean we were off to Neverland to use our fast passes.

I love the Peter Pan ride since it is one of the originals and I remember as a child believing that we were really flying!

vacation2009349.jpg

Here's a closeup of the lovely uniform the CMs wear to the party
vacation2009350.jpg

Around 6:40 I suggested we head over to Adventureland to get in line for the special character meet and greet. On the way we passed Cinderella's coach

vacation2009351.jpg

When we got over there we were the first in line to meet TARZAN! I had promised Caitlin we'd meet him so I wanted to do that right away. We waited twenty minutes and were finally let in.

The first character I met was Simba's ol' pal Timon
vacation2009354.jpg

(fyi I'm wearing pumpkin mouse ears)

Next up was Baloo and as we rounded the corner we saw.......Jane. Just Jane. I was so disappointed we got there before Tarzan! Jane was quite charming though and congratulated me on taming Dale.

vacation2009357.jpg

(Dale in his Jack Skellington ears and tee)

When we finished there we did some trick or treating

vacation2009362.jpg

and then we met Abu and Genie. Unfortunately, Dale forgot to give the the PP photographer our camera so we only got PP shots with them (but we umm didn't buy the pp)

Our next stop was the Diamond Horseshoe to meet Woody and Bullseye. We'd never met Bullseye before and since Dale is a HUGE Toy Story fan, this was a treat. Bullseye was adorable and asked how long we'd been married (by pointing at our pins) and then counted out 21 by stamping his foot.

vacation2009365.jpg

By this time it was getting dark so it was time to pay a visit to the Haunted Mansion. I loved the special lighting and the creepy woman (Madame Leota?) out front. We weren't able to get a good shot of her though.

vacation2009370.jpg

vacation2009375.jpg

Our next stop was Fantasyland. On our way, Dale got some nice night shots

vacation2009376.jpg

vacation2009377.jpg

We headed over to Ariel's Grotto to check out the dance party. The place was packed with kiddos who were having a great time! We joined the kids in doing the "chicken dance" and then we headed out to see more of the party.

vacation2009380.jpg

(I love Donald as a pumpkin!)

vacation2009379.jpg

(Princess Daisy and an adorable little Snow White)

I had really hoped to see Snow White and the Dwarves but the line was absolutely crazy! Dale just took his best shot as we passed...

vacation2009381.jpg

I'm going to stop here but I hope you'll come back for the next installment because there are lots more party pics to come!

Out of all of the MNSSHP pics I have seen you have been the only one with bullseye and woody pics :thumbsup2

I wonder why that is? :confused3 It was pretty busy on our night, I think we waited 10 or 15 minutes to see them. They were giving candy away in there too :)

:cool1: for an update, but I can't see any pictures. I have been waiting for this update and I'm so disappointed especially since I may not even have time to check pics tonight!

Anyway - glad you guys liked Tony's. I have always enjoyed Tony's, but my June meal was not all that great. It probably is really a nice break for lunch, especially when a parade is in full swing. How lucky to get a window seat.

So - I'll check back later. Yeah:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2.....for bounceback for next year. I think the first week of September will be an excellent time to visit. I think that week probably has the lowest crowds of the entire year. I'm so glad that Caitlin will get to go with you. That's wonderful.
