Bargain Betty and Workaholic Starring In:What Are You, A Disney Expert?

OK I finally caught up!! :) Wow...you're off to an awesome start and loving all the pictures.

The scavenger hunt that Caitlin has you on is ADORABLE! I think it was a fabulous idea!

And Jellyrolls is definitely on the schedule for my next trip. I've never been yet but I just keep hearing awesome things about it. Seems like everyone has an amazing time!

I can't believe how empty Epcot was for you!! It wasn't horrible when we went but still pretty crowded around the world showcase.

Hmm...I know I'm missing a ton of other things I wanted to comment on... :(

I love the BouTIKI with all the chars in Polynesian garb!
And just the ambiance of that place is amazing.
My dream vacation is Poly Concierge Level...

I love the Poly too! My first couple visits as a kid the only places to stay were either the Poly or the Contemporary. I always wished we'd stay at the CR because I was amazed how the monorail ran right through the hotel and as a huge IASW fan I loved the mural at the CR. As an adult, I'm really able to appreciate the Poly but don't want to spend the money to stay there so instead, I make a point of dining there each trip!

Aww thank you! The scavenger hunt was a lot of fun and it helped us really pay attention to some of the details we might sometimes miss! JellyRolls is great and if you enjoy music it is a must do! We were really lucky with low crowds everywhere and I was glad because this time I didn't listen to TGM or the UG and instead just planned my days around our adrs. However, MNSSHP was packed!

How cool that you got to meet Hercules girlfriend ! Loved the shopping pictures of the Halloween stuff and Princess & The Frog , I would love to get DD some of that stuff also , she has already asked for the Barbie dolls . LOL You had a really nice view at Ohana also , did you request these views or just luck out ? The food looked so yummy at Ohana but I don't think my kiddos would eat it either ! LOL

I'm guessing you go back to POP and the emergency phone call is about one of the dogs ?

Meeting Hercules girlfriend was fun. It was kind of funny that some young kids were in line in front of us and they had no idea who she was since the movie was before their time  We didn't request tables at 'Ohana or Chef Mickey I guess we just got lucky :)

Good guess about the dogs but that's not it. I'm sad to say that our collie Zoe died 2 weeks after we got home. She passed away from old age, she was almost 15, and we miss her dearly!

Sorry to hear about your dog :(

OK ..... Please don't look at the time that I am posting this or you will think I am crazy. I always get up early on sundays when I have to play music for the 8am mass. I like to run through the whole line up once before I leave the house. But I am up extra early with the time change and I knew I hadn't checked in on your TR in awhile.

first - so sorry to hear about your dog. It's always so sad when a beloved pet dies.

second - I love that new princess costume - what's her name? crap, too early, I already forgot her name - something with a T.

third - I loved how your photographed all the merchandise displays. It makes me want to buy something - right now.

4th - Seeing your Ohana pictures makes me certain I want to eat there in May. I have eaten there three times and I've never gotten a seat like that with such a great view. Maybe the 4th time will be a charm.

5th - I still nervous about this emergency phone call. My prediction is you start to go back to Epcot and THEN get the phone call.

Hi MaryEllen! Don't you just love when the time changes and you think you'll get more sleep but instead the clock says you're just up earlier? I too was up much too early this morning but in my case someone forgot to tell the dogs that the time changed :rotfl:

Thank you for the hug Mary Ellen. We miss Zoe but we're slowly adjusting. We were lucky to have her so long!

The new Princess, is Tiana so you were on the right track :thumbsup2 To me there is just a sweetness about her dress that looks appropriate for little girls to be wearing.

I thought the merchandise displays were all really cute and I could have taken tons of shopping pics but Dale thought I was strange for what I did take :rotfl:

I love Ohana and we've had window seats both visits. With the food, the view and the atmosphere you can't go wrong there!

As for your prediction.....it may or may not be right ;)

Hi, I'm really enjoying your report! DH and I are going without the kids in December and can't wait!

Hi Denise! :wave2: Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying it! I love WDW in Dec! The MK and the resorts are even more gorgeous at that time of year! I'm sure you and your DH will have an amazing time!:thumbsup2

When I left off we were trying to decide if we should go back to Pop for a rest (and more importantly for me to change my shoes) or just head back to Epcot. We decided to just go back to Epcot. I figured I'd worn the shoes all day so what harm would another few hours do? Our plan was to use our TT fp, catch some live musical entertainment and see Illuminations. It was evening EMH but we had a late night the night before and the next night was to be MNSSHP so we thought we'd just skip the EMH. We took the monorail back to Epcot and when we were waiting to go through security I suddenly felt my left foot get wet :confused3 It felt like something had been poured on my foot so when we got inside I immediately sat down to check it out.

*Warning* (kinda gross here) when I looked at my foot I saw I had more than a few water blisters and apparently one (or more ?) had popped and flooded my foot:eek: Gross right?!
I looked up to see Dale checking his phone. He told me he must have missed a call while we were eating and he had a new voice mail. I didn't really think anything of it since his work calls all the time, even on vacation. Suddenly, I saw his jaw drop and all the color drained from his face. He looked scared. Very scared. The first thought through my mind was that someone had just died. I was watching him and trying very hard not to freak out! When he got off the phone he told me it was Caitlin. She was sobbing hysterically and the only words he could make out were "car accident". I was filled with panic. I went to check my phone and realized the battery was drained from all the texting earlier in the day. While I checked my phone, Dale tried calling her but there was no answer. I took his phone and called my mom to see if she'd heard from Caitlin. When I talked to my mom she said Caitlin was fine, albeit upset, but her ex-boyfriend (remember they broke up right before our trip) had been in a horrible accident and was hospitalized. Caitlin had gotten the news as she was commuting to her campus for an event for her scholastic fraternity Rush Week and that's why she couldn't answer when we called her back. Of course we were very concerned about her ex "R" but we were extremely relieved to hear she hadn't been in an accident! After that excitement we were feeling really drained and decided to relax and watch "Off Kilter". So we started toward Canada

(ok so this pic is from May but I noticed this entry has very few pics :rotfl:)

I got us seats for the show while Dale headed off to get another beer from his "Beer Hop Passport". His selection this time was the Grolsch Lager from Holland. Which he thoroughly enjoyed! I'd always heard good things about "Off Kilter" and they did not disappoint. I was enjoying the show when Dale's phone went off. It was Caitlin. I grabbed it and left the seating area to talk to her. She was better but was really worried about R. She couldn't talk long since she had a meeting but said she could call back at 9:00. (hmmmm 9:00 Illuminations time....of course being the mom that I am... I told her we'd go back to Pop and call her at 9:00. I was so relieved she hadn't been in an accident that Illuminations really didn't seem to matter anymore) I returned to Dale and caught the rest of the show. We tried taking some pics of Off Kilter but they came out really dark. However, I must say the lead guitarist is quite a cutie!

When the show ended we checked the schedule and saw if we hurried we could go over to the UK and see the "British Invasion". This was another live group that we had never seen so it was another treat! We found a spot on the curb directly across from the gazebo where they'd be performing. I had thought they were a Beatles tribute band but they actually play music by a few different British Bands of that time. The show was a lot of fun and Dale and I both enjoyed singing along! It was funny they looked so young but at the end they had the audience stand and come in close and that's when we realized that weren't all that young! :lmao:

Despite the drama of the evening it was a fun night and we really enjoyed the mini concerts! After the show we headed back toward the front of the park to return to Pop. By this point, Epcot was getting packed and we really had to fight our way through the crowds! When we got back to Pop we stopped in the food court and picked up our mugs which were included with the deluxe dining plan. We filled them and then headed to the room to call our daughter. By the time we talked to her she had talked to R and knew he was going to be ok and would be going home from the hospital the next day. He was very lucky to be alive!
We finished our talk and we went to bed exhausted from a very long and eventful day!

I can imagine that your heart just about dropped out of your body at that phone call. When I was 23, I was visiting my DH (then boyfriend) at college, about 4 hrs away from my home. He called my parents to tell them I was on my way home just as I left his residence and 20 min later they got another call telling them I was being taken to hospital....they tell me now that is when they started going grey. Now that I have kids (6 & 4), I can understand the panic. :goodvibes I am glad that Caitlin was safe and your vacation could continue!

I just found your trip report and I'm really enjoying the POV of an adult only trip. It sounds like you were having a great time. I can only imagine where your head went hearing only your daughter's name and car accident. So glad it wasn't her that was involved. Looking forward to reading more :)

Oh my goodness that must have been horrible for your parents! (and you as well) We were so relieved that she was ok but then the thoughts begin of how many times she rode in the car with him...and how that could have been her too.

Hi! I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the report! :goodvibes We did have a great time and it was much more relaxing than our usual Disney trips where we feel the need to see and do everything!

Her voicemail was scary and as we tried to reach her or my mom it was a terrifying few minutes that felt like hours!

OK.....you really had me on the edge of my seat there. Phew! I didn't know what to think. I am sorry that Caitlin's ex had a horrible accident, but didn't you imply that he has some type of abuse problem, hence the reason for the break-up. Poor Caitlin, how horrible for her to have to go through two events like that.

Anyway.....great pics again (even the one from May), boo to popping blisters, and yeah to a fun Epcot evening. :thumbsup2 I think I will make sure we sit and listen to Off Kilter in May. I think my friends would really enjoy that!

Yes, R does have some substance abuse issues and her greatest fear was that he would hurt himself which indeed happened. We are still praying he gets some help.

We really enjoyed stopping and listening to live music this trip! I think for an adults trip Jelly Rolls and Off Kilter are must dos! And as for the blisters...Dale was disgusted that I included that in my latest post

I hope he gets help, too. I hope this was a bit of a "wake-up" call.

Jelly Rolls...that's right.....we have to consider squeezing that in somewhere.

Haha! :rotfl: Your description was a tad graphic, but I'm a nurse....I can handle it! :rotfl:

So glad it was all ok! Emergency phone calls are never a good thing. :goodvibes Unless, of course, it is about a lottery. :thumbsup2

Is your foot ok?

I have seen the Beatles Tribute band but never Off-Kilter. I'm hoping to see all the Showcase players I can during my trip.

Looking forward to more!

A call about the lottery would have been welcomed! :lmao: My foot is fine but I threw away those croc sandals as soon as we got back to Pop! The live entertainment at Epcot is all so good it's just finding the time to relax and enjoy it!

I cannot believe you guys were going to go as UP characters to MNSSHP, you're the coolest. What were your costumes like?

We LOVED :lovestruc UP and we were looking forward to being Carl and Russell. Dale had brought pants, a dress shirt and bowtie as well as a cane with a tennis ball on the bottom (for some reason the tennis ball didn't make it through security even tho it was in our checked bag :confused3) I was going to wear a boys tee from the Disney store that looked like Russell's scout uniform complete with the badges. I also had the hiking shoes and khaki shorts. It was just too hot though for Dale to wear long pants! And thanks! It's been years since we've been called cool :rotfl2:
