So, i know there are quite a few general make up threads and how they relate to the park/the heat. I want to ask the ladies specifically about bare minerals. I've been using bare minerals for about half a year now and I'm a convert - it's the only foundation I wear or plan on wearing. However, for sweating and walking around the parks, I'm thinking of doing a tinted moisturizer and maybe just a dab of bare minearals. I usually put the minerals on pretty heavy to get a better coverage and I've noticed that on hot days, this is bothersome when I start sweating. Plus the SPF in the minerals is probably not enough for florida.

So, my question is: 1) for those of you who wear bare minerals, do you wear it in the parks and wear a better sunscreen underneath or a tinted moisturizer. If so, which brands?

2.) for those of you bare mineral converts - do you wear something different to the parks?

I'm thinking if I find a *good* tinted moisturizer, I can just conceal with the minerals and that will work well. For evenings of course, back to my full bare minerals coverage. I want to look nice in the parks, just not as done us as I will in the evenings. Thanks!

When I used to use Bare minerals( I can't b/c the bismuth in it caused my cystic acne) I would put a primer on first and the bare minerals would stay put even in the heat

Why don't you try the Bare Minerals SPF 30 Sunscreen? There is a lot of color in it. I originally bought the medium but ended up switching to the light because I thought the medium was too dark. I normally don't wear make-up in the parks during the day, only if I'm going out to dinner or a special event. The Mineral Veil is now rated SPF 25.

I agree with lightly applying Bare Minerals SPF 30 Sunscreen or Oil of Olay tinted moisturizer foundation also SPF 30. With the Florida humidity, my preference is nothing but sunscreen unless we go someplace special in the evening.

I only wear the bare minerals. I use the pre-makeup lotion that came with the initial startup kit (I keep buying it when I run out) and then put my own face lotion on over that before applying the bare minerals makeup. I've never found a need to do anything different, even at the parks.

I'm pretty fair-skinned, and I don't recall getting a sunburn on my face. I got one on my chest and arms, but not on my face.

Another bare minerals fan - personally I didn't take to the sunscreen variation though - thought the colour was odd and funny texture.

Would highly recommend going for your standard bare minerals with mineral veil on top to stop the humidity ruining the look.

Can I just add that although I am fairly mediterranean complexion I do burn if not careful but have never burnt using the above carefully.

I gotta say the same as everyone else. I personally do not wear ANY makeup to the parks, only at night when going out somewhere nicer, but nothing to the park...yuck!! I would suggest if you're determined though to do either your own sunscreen or the new bare minerals sunscreen and then do the veil with the higher SPF over it. It should give you a nice smooth cover, but no need for all the makeup. It's hot, you can get dusty and dirty get on and off all the rides, plus it's not like you're going to know anyone there (unless you randomly run into someone) so who cares what you look like. The moisturizer and veil should be plenty fine.

Have you tried the new Matte Version of the foundation? It doesn't contain the bismuth and I know quite a few people who couldn't wear the Original but absolutely love the Matte.

Yup..didn't like it.I am back to using Makeup forever Face and body foundation and when I apply it with a primer it does not budge and does not feel like a heavy mask on my face.I wore makeup all throughout my Sept 08 and 09 trips and did NOT have issues with sweaty ,streaky skin.My pics look good and I felt good.

I start with Clinique's SPF 30 for faces and then add my matte BM. The matte formula does not have the bismuth.

I do not use mineral veil though. I use MAC's Prep+Prime finishing powder. :thumbsup2

:)Another bare minerals fan here. I use a tinted moisturizer (Dr. Denese Defense Day Cream w/spf30) and lightly brush bare minerals over it for a matte finish. Never had a problem with it running when I perspire. Never got sunburned either.

Hey, I know what you mean about "it's not like you're going to know anyone there" -- but my law of averages is when I let it all hang out I run into someone I haven't seen in ages. Happens every time!

well, the main reason I want to look decent (not made up) is for our pictures! I know nobody will see me there that I know but I want to look nice for our memories. :-)

I love BareMinerals too. I haven't tried it in the park though. I am curious to see the responses.

I love Bare Minerals makeup, but in the Florida heat I'm likely to get that shiny look no matter how much mineral veil I use. I've started using Dr Brandt Pore Refinfer. It's not cheap, but I can typically get away with just a pea-sized amount on a regular day, probably a little more in WDW. It's got a tiny bit of color to it and gets rid of the oilyness (sweat) all day. That, plus the regular makeup (which I too layer on pretty heavily) and the mineral veil is enough.

I also love Bare Minerals and used it in the heat and humidity of New Orleans all the time. I plan to be wearing it in the parks too. I'm a redhead so maybe I'm just overly cautious about the sun, but I always hear that the SPF in makeup isn't enough because it wears off some even if it still looks good. I have an odd regimen though I haven't been doing this here in Liberia so I'll see if it still works when I get back to the USA. The sunscreen by Coppertone that is continuous spray, I use that so my face doesn't feel greasy. I use the primer then spray the sunscreen onto my hands and wipe it onto my face then apply the Bare Minerals makeup foundation and mineral veil. I feel no matter what you do, if you want to look good for dinner though, you'll need to wash your face and reapply though

I actually prefer the Mary Kay minerals to Bare Minerals. And I had used BM for about seven years until I got onto MK last year. I think it stays better. :goodvibes

Hi! Where do I buy this? Thanks again! Brunette

I am fine to use BM in the heat & humidity of Philly, but it annoys the heck out of me in Florida! I actually use Temptu, which is an airbrush system and stays on amazingly well (but is obviously not practical for everyone - my system was a graduation gift!).

I would do a moisturizer with SPF/tinted moisturizer, and then a light coat of primer, and a very light coat of BM. When I put it on too heavy it really bothers me, but I think if done lightly and over a tinted moisturizer, you could achieve the coverage you want. I would maybe add some Warmth over it for a nice glow and more coverage around the hairline/jawline/cheeks.

I use the Loreal brand mineral make up, and usually don't wear anything to the parks, but I was just diagnosed with Melanoma, so I got SPF everywhere. I have the neutrogena moisturizer with SPF 45, and use the mineral foundation over top of that, if I don't and just use the moisturizer alone, my face feels slimy when I sweat in the FL heat. So minerals it is!!! It helps absorb the moisturizer, and it also has the SPF in it, so I'm doubly protected. I got to now!!! Skin cancer isn't any fun, so make sure you're protected in this florida sun!!!!

I dont use BM I found something that I believe to be a close runner up tho. Avon mineral makeup, I use first Avon Magix face perfector which has SPF in it and then the mineral foundation and I love the coverage as well as how well it stays on! Plus its way cheaper than B.M. I buy the Avon when its on sale normally between $5 and $8 normal price is $10 and each small pot lasts me for anywhere between 3-5months! I add avon eyeliner and normally done unless I feel like wearing eyeshadow..
