anyone use Bare Minerals? Im thinking about it. How can I start? Is there others that are best than it?

If you want to try it out... I recommend ordering it from QVC. They have the best return policy for cosmetics. You can try it out for 30 days and if you don't like it, send the used products back and they will give your money back no questions! (Not that I think you'll send it back. Once you try it, you'll wonder why you used anything else!)

Almost my whole wedding party used bare minerals foundation for my wedding. Kept everyone from looking shiny or having their make up run down their face on that VERY hot Sept. day!

Been using it since March and LOVE it.

I also started using it in March and LOVE it. My skin hasn't been this nice since I was about 10 yrs. old. :)

There is a "learning curve" with it, but once you get used to it, it would hard to ever go back to more traditional make-up.

Bare Minerals is my favorite by far, but sometimes I use the Maybelline line, which costs far less (Walgreens has BOGO this week). It has good coverage, I would buy a foundation, veil and maybe a blush to start.

I wear Mary Kay and they have a wonderfull mineral powder. I didn't think I would like it but once I tried it, I love it. I will only use it when I'm not wanting to go with my full make-up. It's really natural on. I like it because you don't have to order it and wonder if you picked the right color. I was able to to try it because I purchased it.

I have been using Bare Minerals for almost 4 years now and I love it. I only use the foundation powders - not any of the eye makeup or lipstick. I bought my original starter pack from Bare Minerals but QVC is good, too.

Once you know what you like, you can order off of Ebay. I also can buy it at Ulta if I'm in a pinch.

I tried Loreal's version and the powder was like little rocks - Bare Minerals is so much finer - it's great.

I used Bare Escentuals for years and thought I liked it, until I started using some of the other mineral makeup companies out there. There are smaller companies that have far superior products. Bare Escentuals contains bismuth, which causes alot of ladies to itch when they get hot. It also has more mica and looks more shiny (but also more powdery) than alot of mineral makeup.

Go to makeuptalk.com and check on their mineral makeup forum and you'll find alot of good reviews and tips for mineral makeup. You can also check on makeupalley.com or the mineral makeup forum on the delphiforum. Alot of the smaller makeup companies sell samples very cheap. Everyday Minerals will give you a sample kit, just for the price of shipping. Pure Luxe has excellent products and big samples for just $1.00. Dream World Minerals also has very cheap samples and wonderful products. Other companies you might want to try samples from are Lumiere, Silk Naturals, Cory, Lauress, Fyrinnae, or Sun Cat. Do your research first on makeuptalk.com, makeupalley.com, and delphiforums. If you have oily skin look for foundations with kaolin clay listed as one of the first ingredients, but if you have dry skin avoid products with kaolin clay and look for products made with silk. Avoid products with bismuth at all costs. Oh, yeah, one more advantage to the smaller companies is that in addition to their products being better, they are also usually much cheaper than Bare Escentuals.

Oh one last thing, the main thing to make mineral makeup look good is using the proper brushes. Be prepared to buy some real good, soft brushes. Perosonally I like Bare Escentuals synthetic brushes OK, but can't stand their natural brushes. Once you find some good soft brushes, you'll see what I mean about Bare Escentuals natural bristle brushes. I have alot of them, but never use them anymore. Most of the mineral makeup companies I mentioned have their own brushes. Be sure to get a good, fluffy, synthetic buki and flat top for your foundation and a skunk brush for your blush at least.

I used to Bare Minerals for a couple of years and then someone on the boards introduced me to Everyday Minerals which are available on line. If you think you want a mineral make up try this one. They have mini sample sizes for very little money AND their full size is less expensive than BM. I like it better b/c it comes in a variety of colors and weights for different coverage.

Another vote for Everyday Minerals. I started using it a few months ago and it held up well during my July WDW trip! Price was also drastically lower than Bare Minerals. This was my first try of mineral powder foundation and I was completely surprised at how well it actually covered flaws and lasted through the day.

Now I am interested in Everyday Minerals and I've been a BE users since 2003. I like that they used recycled materials for their jars and sifters.

My problem will be finding a foundation color after looking at their website!

Their customer service is way helpful. Just shoot them an email and tell them the current shade of BE that you use, and they will be able to suggest a similar EM shade. I  EM!!

I am a fan of Everyday Minerals, but the brushes in the BE get started kits are much better quality and I would recommend starting with that for a newbie. I just think that a lot of people don't like minerals because they try them with the wrong brushes and get too much of a powdery look.Your first kit for around $60 will last you a long time and the dvd and good quality brushes will get you started on the right foot. Then refill with Everyday Minerals when you run out- they have great products! Just not a fan of their brushes.

I've been using Bare Minerals for six years. Very happy with it - have tried MaryKay, Arbonne, Maybelline and always wish it was Bare Minerals. I order from www.faceetc.com and their prices are good, but haven't checked some of the other mentioned sites. Shipping is amazingly quick. I've tried the "house brand" a few times and it's been pretty solid as well.

Does BareMinerals have a great concealer to try ?? Can I just use that ?
Lately I have noticed my skin to have very uneven skin coloring ...darker spots in places etc...
would love a great concealer to smooth them out.

The everyday minerals site has a free sample kit, it was $3.09 for shipping, so I gave it a try :) Thanks for the link!

I also use bare minerals. Thanks for the tip on everday minerals, I will have to give them a try. :thumbsup2

I've used Bare Escentuals for five years. My mom started ordering it on QVC. They have great specials on seasonal kits. If you buy directly from the store, they do have punch cards. I don't use their skincare line though, only the brushes, foundation, eyeshadow, and blush. I "invest" ion Lancome liner, lipstick, and mascara. Lasts forever.

But Bare Escentuals is nice and light. I have severe eczema and it never irritates my skin. 5 years and counting...
