Bare Minerals

I got my free samples in the mail today - that was FAST! Now I have to figure out how to use them LOL Thanks again for the heads up!

They always ship SO fast -- just another reason I love them. If you need any help with your new makeup, I'm sure we'd all be happy to help! :goodvibes

The everyday minerals site has a free sample kit, it was $3.09 for shipping, so I gave it a try :) Thanks for the link!

I ordered a sample kit yesterday!! I hope it won't take me long to find my foundation match. I am currently wearing BE's Golden Medium. The EDM's color choices were giving me a headache!!

I am hard to match since I am half Thai and half white. I look Latina. Sigh!!!

I have to say I LOVE bare minerals. I swear by it, nothing works better for making your skin flawless. Unfortunately my budget doesnt allow for it anymore. :sad2: I had a coupon for the Loreal Bare Naturale and love it also. Of course its not as great but for half the price it works pretty close!

I used to love bare minerals... but I think they changed their formulation. I wore the product for about 6 years, then within the past year or so, my face would break out BAD! When I quit using it, it clears up. I have a serious love/hate relationship with the product. I love the way it looks, but hate what it's done to my skin :rolleyes2

I had the same exact experience. After much research I found out the main ingredient that causes the problems is the bismuth oxychloride.

I can't wear it either, but will on rare occasions. Here is a little info...

Bismuth Oxychloride (also called “synthetic pearl”) – a by–product of lead and copper refining and occurs very rarely in nature; similar to arsenic; a skin irritant; leaves an unnatural shiny finish; brands containing this element feel heavier on the skin; can clog pores and cause blemishes; many people are sensitive to this ingredient.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one! I ordered the free sample of Every Day Minerals ..... does anyone know if this contains the Bismuth Oxycloride??? :confused3

I'm going to give EM a try, too. Anyone know what foundation shade(s) would be a match for BM medium and medium beige?

No, Everyday Minerals does not have Bismuth Oxycloride. Each of these mineral makeups has their ingredients for all their products listed on their websites if there is any doubt, but I just checked EM and they are ok...which means I may give them a shot myself because I do miss the mineral makeups. It killed me to throw out a couple hundred dollars worth of BM when I started breaking out constantly from it.

If you want to try it out... I recommend ordering it from QVC. They have the best return policy for cosmetics. You can try it out for 30 days and if you don't like it, send the used products back and they will give your money back no questions! (Not that I think you'll send it back. Once you try it, you'll wonder why you used anything else!)

I would also recommend QVC. They have a starter kit for $30 that should give you an idea of whether you like it or not without spending I've used it for 6 years and I don't use much, so it lasts me a very long time. After I used up my starter kit, I bought the large replacements on QVC and haven't had to buy make-up in over 2 years! I only use the bisque (cover up) foundation, mineral veil & clear radiance and I'm always getting compliments on my skin from other women.

I am one of the very few (keep your flames to yourself) that HATES bare minerals. I am dry skinned and freckled. Bare minerals does not cover freckles and you cannot moisturize enough to avoid looking like a wrinkled hag if you have dry skin. Additionally the power goes everywhere, vents, hair, floor, appliances, etc. I don't care how much you tap and swirl.

My daughter has very oily skin and it has been better for her.

Again no flames, i can't help it if i'm dry as a lizard and freckled too

Thanks for all your replies. I already ordered samples from meow organics, mineral silk and everyday minerals this last in e-bay. Everyday minerals shipping is really just wrong for my country. I didint place an order to Bare minerals is just not to natural for me and the itching thing make me think.:scared: I tried maybelline just to feel it, but have some ingredients that dont please me.:confused3
So my journey continues, I can wait to the samples to arrive!!!!!:dance3:

You may want to post at Everyday Minerals forum. From what I have read, they are very helpful and will want to see a picture to look at your skin tone as well as undertones.

Since there are so many colors to chose from it's hard just to say based on BM medium and medium beige.

You have to check out the Mineral products from Avon. Yes I do sell it. All of my customers that have used BM and then Avon, stick with Avon because they say the product is better and less expensive than BM. Check out the main avon.com site and do a search then read the reviews. I've been using it for over 2 years now, our transparent glow is like mineral veil.

Ugh... I was so excited to know that Avon has their version...then at the very end of their ingredient list it said it MAYcontain bismuth oxychloride. :sad1: I will say if I didn't have that issue, the shades and the price sure are attractive! Darn! Why does my skin have to be so picky?? :sad2: Thanks for the info though-DD would probably be okay with the Avon version...so maybe she will try it out. I'll have to show her in the morning.

I used Bare Minerals over a year ago and the products really messed up my skin. After about a month I broke out all over my face, and I couldn't figure out what happened for the longest time except for the introduction of the new makeup! My friends and mom all noticed it because I used to have great skin. Now, about 1 year later, my skin is finally back to normal. The other thing I recall is that the makeup actually made me looked older -- the power somehow accentuated all the lines on my face, lines that I didn't even know I had. I tried using less but then I couldn't get sufficient coverage. I was really bummed that this didn't work for me when so many women seem to love it.

Just wanted to give an update to let everyone know that I had ordered the Everyday Minerals (FREE SAMPLES!) and I really like them! I especially LOVE the price! A full size product is like $7.00! :thumbsup2 WOOHOO! One thing I love about the product is that I don't look like a glow-worm glistening with the irredescence stuff in BM. This is the first alternative that I've tried and liked! The coverage is excellent, and of course, as mineral makeup goes, it's weightless and looks completely natural. Now the real test... will I have clear skin in a few days??? :confused3

I love Everyday Minerals!
I buy a few foundation colors that are close to my natural shade and mix my own foundation. It's a little messy, but I can get differnt shades for summer and winter that way, and can match my skin tone much better. Because the products are less expensive, I am able to do this and not go broke in the process.

I like that EM sells matte finish, because I don't like that "dewey" look either.

Also, someone mentioned having trouble with dry skin and using mineral makeup. I have problems with dryness to, and I moisturize twice a day. My skin is no more or less dry with the minerals, and I find that the mineral makeup looks much more natural and less "masklike." I'm sure not everyone has the same experience, but for the price of EM, and it's lack of irritants, it's worth a try.

Check to see if the product you were using has kayolin clay as a main ingredient. Kayolin clay is great for people with oily skin, but is murder on us people with dry skin. If your skin is dry, you can still wear mineral makeup, but must look at the ingredients. Pick products with silk as one of the primary ingredients and avoid products with kayolin clay like the plague. Also avoid anything with bismuth in it. Use a dermabrasion cream at least 1-2x a week to get rid of any flakiness, moisturize well twice a day, and use a product with silk as the main ingredient. Silk helps the skin retain moisture. Again avoid products with kayolin clay in them.
