Bare Minerals vs Major Brands Mineral Makeup

Multi-tasking foundation and Apple blush are exactly the shades I use, too. :) Enjoy your new makeup!

thank you!! do you mind if I ask you how you like the foundation? I had no clue which one to order, but that description seemed to match what I was looking for. Does this stuff come with directions? If not, i'm sure ill be back with some more questions.

thanks again! :disrocks:

Ever since I let one of those women at the mall put some kind of mineral make up on me I've wanted to try it. Now I think I will try the Everyday Minerals. I am sure I'll be back with questions. You all seem very helpful.

Checking in to add myself to the EM users on the DIS. :cheer2: Just got another order in the mail today, as a matter of fact! I love EM- the coverage is great, and my face has been great since I started using it. I have extremely oily, acne-prone skin, and the combo of EM and AcneFree skincare products have worked wonders. I read about EM on a thread talking about good makeup for WDW, tried it, and got instantly hooked.

My favorite EM items are the Intensive foundations, Sunlight concealer (it is awesome for dark undereye circles), and the fabulous blush and eye colors. I have almost every color available for eyes (they have a mini size 10 shadow kit for $18), and am getting up there with the blush colors, too. The brushes are also really good quality and oh, so soft.

Not to be gross, but do any of you have problems with the mineral makeups running down your face when you sweat in the summer? I want to try them, but sweat in the humidity all summer long and don't want to look like a runny mess. Winter is no problem, but I need something for the hot weather too.

Mom of Katie,

I was lurking and glad to see your post. I have very, very oily skin also, I ordered samples of EM but I was so oily after 1-2 hours I gave up. I use a lot of acne clearing products. Oxy wash 10% benzoid peroxide, Clinique clarifying #4, and any oil blotting products I can find. I ordered the matte foundation and I think Intensive powder, but just couldn't get it to work. Any ideas would be apreciated.

I never have. And this summer was stinkin' hot. It looked good getting out of a pool.

This is a great thread! I have used BM for about a year and I like it much better than regular make-up. But at times it seems cakey. I think you all have convinced me to try EM, thanks! :surfweb:

Hi, fellow oily skin sufferer! :lmao:

I think for me, the key is washing twice a day with the AcneFree products (a less expensive knockoff/clone of Proactiv- I get mine at either Target or Wal Mart). I also find that I get less shiny throughout the day if I use an oil-free, oil controlling moisturizer (I use one by Mary Kay, but I'm sure there are others out there).

I usually apply a base layer of EM Finishing Dust, then apply my concealer, foundation (in matte or intensive), and blush. I then put on a final layer of Finishing Dust to set everything. It seems to work pretty well most days (during 'that time of the month', sometimes nothing helps, though). If I need to, I just carry some Finishing Dust around with me and apply when needed- usually only once a day, on really greasy days.

Did you try the Intensive foundation??? Its AMAZING for oiliness!

I just ordered the sample EM (and a few lipglosses and eye shadows - what can I say? The prices blew me away!!)

I am trying the intensive coverage - my main complaint about the Bare Minerals is that I can't get the coverage I want so hopefully this will help.

Thanks CathrynRose for the suggestion!

Thanks guys for the replies. I think I will order samples again and get the intensive formula. I think I read on EM website they are coming out with a primer, maybe I'll wait and try that. I'm so jealous that everyone has such good luck with minerals. I will try again.

Thanks

I use bare minerals and liked it but then I tried Laura Huttons Bare Minerals and I love it. It is so much better that the regular BM. It feels like silk on your face when you put it on and it covers more than BM.

Is the EM website slow? Or is it just me?

I am going to try it! That is once the website is working:cutie:

ETA--Just placed my sample order--If I like it, they will hear from me (and my credit card;) ) again!!

Hoping I love it:cloud9:

I just placed a EM order to try it out. I used BM but hated how it made my face itch. I am now using the (well, at least 2 times anyways) L'Oreal brand, and it has not been itchy. It was on sale Buy One Get One, so I thought it was worth a shot anyways.

I may need to re-try EM. I got some samples but it seemed to highlight my dry patches more than BM. I think I might have also gotten too light of colors.

When you get the samples how to you get it onto your brush? With BM I put it in the lid, but the EM samples are too small for that.

BM itches alot of people, that is why I never even tried it. EM does not itch. And you will be able to tell the difference between L'Oreal and EM.

Well, that is good to know. I truly do not mind spending money on make-up if it is going to work for me. For the longest time I used Merle Norman, but then it just started to be too heavy for me. EM has great prices, much better than anything I have seen in the store. I paid $15 for two 4.5g things of L'Oreal.

Where do you order the samples or is that the 2.5 size you are ordering?

Very slow, I had trouble getting it to download. I'll try later.
