Bare Minerals vs Major Brands Mineral Makeup

im hoping you guys can help me out

Im looking to order the samples right now...but I dont know which ones to pick!!

Im pretty pale right now...im irish and german, so I very rarely am tan, except for the summer months. I have a reddish undertone to my face.

Which formula choices do you all like the best? Im guessing I should order from the cool line.

any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

it was halloween here! eye black isnt usually part of my makeup routine :rotfl:

thanks CathyrnRose

against a white sheet of paper, my wrist is slightly pink. very very pale, I can tell you that much!

I went from Everyday to Loreal, DH said to try it and it was in a pinch. It is ok. But I think I am going back to the Everyday for my foundation. I used everything else from Everyday. I did try Loreal's new eye shadows and they are really thick and do not seem to cover well. Now there mineral veil or what ever they call it is nice, so you could use that in a pinch and be very good.

Your not as pale as you think you are. Most women, arent.

Okay - if I were you, I'd try out 3 of these 4: (in order)

Beige - Light Medium
Cool - Fair Medium
Cool - Multitasking Neutral
Cool - Fair

Blush , I'd do:
(if you like neutral blushes:)
Snooze Bar ***I like this one, a lot***
Back to School
(or even) Soft Bronzer.

(if you like cool blushes)
Apple
Chit Chat.

Read the description of the color - it's much more dead on then the swatch color.

As far as formulation goes - Original Glo IMO, isnt much. It's ehhhh... I like more coverage. I really like the Semi-Matte, for regular use, and the Intensive for PMS days, and in the summer, mixed with Semi-matte.

HTH! :goodvibes :)

Another happy Everyday Minerals customer here! :goodvibes I used Bare Minerals at first, but once I tried EM that was that. I like it even better than BM, and the price is way better. And they ship FAST -- which is great, because I never remember to reorder it until I'm down to about 7 grains of makeup. LOL

As far as improving skin quality goes, I have first-hand experience there. I have always dealt with breakouts that just seemed to get worse as I got older. (I'm 41) I was about 10 minutes away from calling to try Proactiv, and that's when I saw the infomercial for BM. After watching, I went and looked at the ingredients in my liquid foundation. Good grief, no wonder I was always breaking out!!

Once I switched to mineral makeup, my face cleared right up. That was several years ago, and now I might get one blemish every few months or so, and I can deal with that. I'll never go back to liquid foundation, even if I have to grind up minerals myself. :thumbsup2

And for those asking about what colors to use, the folks at Everyday Minerals are really great about helping with that. Just shoot them an email. I have always had great luck with the shades they have suggested for me!

Thanks Gina. Anytime I wear any make up I break out something awful, I look like a 14 year old, so its good that this may actually not have that happen

fraggle,

I am a fair brunette, who burns and sometimes tans (blue eyes) with lots of red/pink in my skin (think of rosacea:cutie: ). Anyway, the "cool" shades at Everday Minerals are the BEST!!

Ooh, a make-up thread. I'm so excited!:cool1: I've lately become obsessed with BE. I got the starter set in Sept. For Christmas my Mom gave me a set and a gift card to get the eye starter set from Sephora. I'm so sad, we don't have Costco here. :sad1:

I need to do something about my brows. Have any of ya'll used the BE brow kit?

Now ya'll say there's something better and cheaper? Unbelievable.

yep, aussie. have the brow kit. don't use it everyday, so some days my brows are just nekkid. don't look at them.

want me to bring you a costco kit if they still have them?

I switched to mineral make up recently too and my problem skin that's been breaking out since I was about 12 cleared up in less than 2 weeks. Went back to liquid for a few days when I ran out, breakouts came right back. I definitely swear by the stuff, but I don't use Bare Minerals or Everyday Minerals... I use Meow Mineral Makeup. The branding is a little cheesy, but they have a TON of shades with different undertones and varying levels of coverage, all of which have no talc, silica, or bismuth. And the makeup is really inexpensive -- $24 for a 1/4 cup of makeup. The only downside is that shipping can take awhile because it's a small company that makes the products based on orders. Their samples are $1 each, and every time I've ordered, they've included some free ones. There's a board over there which is helpful for figuring out what colors to order samples in too, since they divide undertones way more than most companies do.

:confused3 I would really like to try the mineral makeups but I am confused.
Do you apply to a dry face ? So, you brush on the foundation, then the
warmth, then the veil all with the same brush ? Seems like they would all
just mix up. Any enlightenment for me ???????

You apply it all to a clean, dry face.

I have a mini kabuki brush for the foundation (LOVE that brush!), and I use a smaller brush (same brush) for both the blush and the warmth (or the pink radiance, depending on the season.) I use a big fluffy brush for the finishing dust (mineral veil.)

Then I have about a dozen other brushes for eye shadow.. eye liner.. eyebrows.. two different concealer brushes.. LOL Makeup brushes are my best friends!! Couldn't live without them. :goodvibes
