Candy Buffet

We've decided to have an old fashioned sweet 'shop' or candy buffet for our evening guest :goodvibes

wedding-candy-buffet.jpg

nashville-wedding-candy-buffet.jpg

Our venue is going to provide large glass bowls, and I've bought silver scoops & stripey paper bags for guests to fill up with sweets! :cutie:

The sweets (candies) will be something like..

marshmallows, Haribo star mix, Jelly Beans, strawberry bonbons, foam bananas, foam shrimps and milk bottles

We didn't want anything in wrappers (will make a mess) or chocolate (as it's going to be a very warm and sunny day! ;) )

Today I also made a sign to put on the table..

I hope everyone likes it! The candy buffet was something I've seen in a lot of wedding magazines & thought it looks like a good idea - DF & I both have a sweet tooth so it'll be a nice personal touch too :cutie:

I am picturing you and DF at the zoo while the royal wedding was going on. I got up at the pre-crack of dawn to watch it live! When I saw Kate's dress I thought she looked so beautiful and elegant. Then I thought the dress looked a little familiar. Then someone in the press mentioned that her dress looked alot like the one worn by Grace Kelly of Monaco. I had to agree... she DID look like a brunette Grace Kelly. When they kissed on the balcony, I thought Prince William was going to turn bright red! There were many comparison's in the press to Charles's wedding to Diana. Diana's dress, in my opinion, wasn't a dress.... it was a metaphor. They said that Diana's dress was chosen for her, and that she said it was very uncomfortable and she hated it. I'm not surprised it was uncomfortable! :scared1: However, my dress also had a very long train, was extremely heavy and had big poofy sleeves. It was the 80's... big hair and big poofy sleeves. Just how it was!

I'm curious... why was Harry's uniform different from Williams. Williams was bright red. I think Charles' was bright red too! Harry's was dark blue and had lots of gold embellishment. They looked incredibly happy. The members of the press said they'd never seen the Queen looking so happy. I have to agree! The Middleton's looked over the moon.... and so did the Queen.

I didn't care for the Princesses dresses. I don't know who chose Beatrix's and Eugenie's dresses... but :sad2:

Back to you!! I love the Disney Florist package you ordered. It will be so special. I think the Disney Florist CM's are so lucky to have a job that brings so much magic to people!

Your table cards and menu cards are so lovely. The attention to detail that you put into your wedding really shows and will make your day so extra special.

I can't believe how right around the corner it is! Now... I'm so tired from getting up so early. I need to nap, but Heidi has a classmate over for a playdate... so no nap for me! :eeyore:

Emma- Everything looks wonderful. I love the candy buffet. Great idea. We have only been to one wedding that had one, but it was so much fun and they gave little take out containers with their names on them for the guests to pack their candy in- It was really cute.

I like your table card ideas. It cute to pick places rather than number them. I bet you are getting really excited. It's not that much longer now. :goodvibes

I LOVE color themed candy buffets!! I wish I had one at my wedding!!! Bring some leftover candy with you when you get to Disney, LOL!!

Hi, I love the surprise for your DH - it sounds great! How romantic :cloud9:

Did you catch up on the Royal Wedding. How gorgeous did Kate look? I also loved her sister Pippa's dress.

Anyway, I love the table names and how you have personalised them :thumbsup2 I also like how you have named some after your DH's football team - that is such a nice thought.

The candy buffet looks delish! Are the pics of the display you will be using or will yours be a bit different? Having a sweet tooth I love the idea :lovestruc

I didn't watch the wedding footage live either (sounds like you guys spent the day nicely!), but I loved Kate's wedding gown. :lovestruc Her evening dress, with the fuzzy cardi was beautiful, too. They both looked genuinely happy together, as well. I think they'll make it!
I love the idea of a candy buffet! Such a fun idea-- I bet your guests will love it! Can't wait to see pictures.

Hi Mindy! I think (not 100% sure) that Prince Harry wore a blue uniform as he is in the army, whereas William is in the Royal Air Force?
Kate's dress was very elegant .. but maybe we'll look back at photos of it in 30 years time & think it looks dated, like Diana's dress does now!
Yesterday morning while I was at the gym I saw pretty much the whole wedding as they have the news channels on the tv screens! :cutie:

Hi, thank you! I'm really pleased we're doing the candy buffet - and it was fun to think up the table names! :cutie:

hehe thank you! It was really hard to know how much candy to order - the website I've found sells items in 3kg bags.. which is about 6.6lbs of each! maybe there will be some left over :cutie:

Thank you :goodvibes - I think I'm just as excited about the Disney Florist gift as I am surprising DF with it! :lovestruc

Yes I saw pretty much the whole Royal Wedding while at the gym yesterday morning lol.. they had Sky News & BBC breakfast news on showing highlight after highlight... and the cake! wow.

With the table names, inititally I thought we could have all Disney-related (also places like 'Briar Patch' 'Tortuga' 'Never Never Land'...) - but it's been fun to think of ways to combine my love of Disney with DF's love of football! :thumbsup2 our cake topper will also have Disney/football touches too.

I don't think our candy buffet will be quite as elaborate as those pics - but we are having pink & white striped paper bags..

4M992126(1).jpg

so it'll continue the 'pale pink' colour theme!

Hi! I liked that Kate changed dresses for her wedding day - Westminster Abbey needed a big, grand dress but I'm sure by the evening she wanted to wear something a little less formal! still pretty though. :bride:

Yesterday I went to a friend's wedding - it was a fabulous day, they are a lovely couple & looked so happy! It was a church ceremony but was quite informal, then the reception was at a hotel in Windsor - there was so much food, all delicious though!
It got me even more excited about our wedding, it's lovely to see people you know so well get married :lovestruc

Oh.. and today is May 1st... which means...

WE'RE GETTING MARRIED NEXT MONTH!!!!

:woohoo: :yay: :cheer2:

Cake Topper update...

Today I had an email from the lady that's making our cake topper! When I sent back the questionnaire & photos, she said that she'd start making it in the middle of May, but turns out she's found time to start it already! :woohoo: - so before she bakes the clay figures, she sent me photos to check I'm happy with the overall look of them.

This is a photo.. (details such as the badge of the groom's scarf & polka dots on the Minnie ears will be added afterwards) ...

EmmaFord1.jpg

I've realised that DF can't see the topper until the wedding day though - as it'll give him a clue what my dress looks like

I'm so excited to see the final product!! ... what does everyone think?

45 days to go... :yay:

Emma princess: x

OMIGOSH- could it BE any more perfect?!?!?! Can you keep that forever and ever and ever!? I love it, its so you <3 :cloud9:

I love the cake toppers! :thumbsup2

I'm glad you realised that if DF saw it he would be able to see what your dress would look like - I would never think of things like that! :lmao:

Oh wow the cake topper looks fantastic, I can't believe how close you are now :)

Oh my goodness, Emma, that cake topper is adorable! I have never seen anything like it before! I can't believe how life-like the dress looks!

Wow - 45 days!!! :goodvibes
