Barbie finds her Prince Charming- our English wedding & Disneymoon June 2011!

Wow Emma that all looks great!!
Love the sound of the Spa Villa -very relaxing and will be the perfect antidote to all the stress of the wedding planning!!

Hi! Thank you :goodvibes I'm really really looking forward to the honeymoon (guess you can tell that  lol) .. we usually go 'commando style' at the parks, being there for rope drop & racing around all the big attractions, but this time we'll be taking it much more easy, spend a lot more time at the resort & relaxing! :cloud9:

Everything looks fantastic Emma! You have been quite busy! We're having some nice weather today too, finally! It really does put people in better moods!

Thank you Nikki! glad you guys have some better weather now too.. wasn't there snow in some states still the other week? it's definitely been an awful winter - so glad spring/summer is on it's way! :wizard:

Sounds like your weekend has been really good :) Lovely sunshine, purchases and planning :goodvibes

It is nice when everyone gets that little bit friendlier when the sun comes out, esp after the winter we've just had.

Hi Stefy, yup it's been a lovely weekend in the sun.. if only it would stay like this for the whole summer ;) !

Havainnas are SO fantastic... I have several pairs. They are ideal for theme park walking (and fun to kick-off when youre riding soarin') I even wore a white pair of them with Swarovski crystals to my wedding reception! They have a few pairs out now that are embellished with crystals (Bows, flowers, etc.) they are SO cute.

Its getting closer and closer... !!

Hi! those sparkly Havainnas sound lovely - not seen them over here but I'll keep my eyes peeled! they are definitely my favourite theme park footwear.. except when we went to Islands of Adventure in 2009 with DF's family - I had to sit on them while we rode Duelling Dragons, and I ended up with the print of 'haivanna' on my legs! :rotfl: blonde moment!

Yay! Everything looks so fun! I can't wait to see how it all turns out!

I'm definitely stealing your idea for the accordian folder next time we go to WDW. I always HAVE SOOO MUCH paperwork too. DF makes fun of me all the time. I'm just SUPER prepared. And that would just be so much cuter to carry around than my crazy folders that overflow lol.

<3

Hi! lol my DF must think I'm like Roz from Monsters Inc with all my 'paperwork' for our vacations! But I like to be organised & not panicking at the airport/hotels searching for pieces of paper :goodvibes
It was a bit hard to find a small accordian folder but really glad I got one now

I LOVE Havianas!! Those look very "vacation-y," lol-- the soles are so cute!

Thank you! I was looking at a gold pair too but the white ones with the tropical print definitely looked more 'vacationy-y' ;) .. I'm wearing them around the house now to break them in! :thumbsup2

Emma, your cruise sounds absolutely amazing! That spa villa looks heavenly! That is going to be such a fun and romantic way to relax after the wedding. :cloud9:

It sounds like you had a really productive weekend! I love the tip envelopes. I am sure the recipients will feel so special when they receive them! :goodvibes

Hi Courtney! sooo looking forward to the cruise - DF is also excited now, originally when we booked it I could tell he wasn't sure if we'd enjoy being on a ship for 5 days.. but the Dream is so big with a ton of things to do, I'm hoping it'll be amazing! :wizard:

When I've done the tip envelopes before, I've been pleased how something so simple really can make someone's day :goodvibes - one of our Magical Express drivers said "I'm going to frame this on my wall!" - and we noticed at the the Yacht Club that mousekeeping kept giving us so many toiletries, towels & coffee-maker refills - maybe because of the pretty gratuity envelopes! :goodvibes

I've tried to theme this trip's envelopes - so the Animal Kingdom Villas ones are all Lion King, the cruise ones are the characters in sailor/pirate outfits, and the Grand Floridian ones are 'famous Disney couples'.. as we're on honeymoon! hehe :cutie:

I've done a few more wedding things today...

First, I decorated the flower girl's basket.. I bought this a few months ago & it came with quite a tacky paper bow...

IMG_0835.jpg

So I decided to take that off, add an organza ribbon, silk flowers & a few fabric butterflies..

Quite pleased with it! I sent a picture to DF's sister, and she showed it to DF's niece (the flower girl) .. and she really likes it! :cutie:

I also decorated the 'letter box' we'll be putting on our gift table in the reception room ...

Pleased with this too.. it's nice to be able to add our own touches to the big day... only 69 days away! :bride:

Am glad you enjoyed your shopping trip and everything is coming together :goodvibes

Those shop assistants sound nice - when it is hot in Manchester the assistants normally just want to get out and enjoy the sunshine, lol!

I love your planning folder and am also a fan of Havainnas! :thumbsup2

Edit: I have just seen the baskets and letter box and they look cute! :cutie:

Hi Stefy, yup it's been a lovely weekend in the sun.. if only it would stay like this for the whole summer ;) !

I reckon we will have a lovely summer, if not a really hot one.

Love the baskets so cute and the gift box too. It makes it extra special when you put your own touches to it, unique :goodvibes

Love your DIY projects!! The flower girl basket looks SO much better after your little touches were added!

I love all the crafty projects you're doing! I wish I had that much creative talent... wtih my wedding as far as I got to that was sponge painting 150 votive holders w/ gold paint!.

I may have to borrow your tip envelope idea for our vacation this September, it's brilliant!:goodvibes

Glad you're enjoying some warm weather. Been a bit of a roller coaster here in the Eastern US.... 28C today and 10C expected tomorrow!!!!:scared1:

Hi! thank you for the comments :goodvibes .. I was so pleased when I found out about Havainnas and bought my first pair.. they are my favourite things for theme-parks now; on our trip in 2006, I made the mistake of buying pretty decorated flipflops from Accessorize.. ended up with loads of blisters & an infection which made my foot swell up on the plane home! was on antibiotics for two weeks after.. added to the post-Disney blues :guilty: lol ... so I did some research and found out that Havainnas, Crocs & other brands are much better for the feet!

I reckon we will have a lovely summer, if not a really hot one.

Love the baskets so cute and the gift box too. It makes it extra special when you put your own touches to it, unique :goodvibes

Thanks Stefy :goodvibes - and I hope you are right about the summer weather! :cool2:

Love your DIY projects!! The flower girl basket looks SO much better after your little touches were added!

thank you! :cutie: the silk flowers on it were just from Ikea, but I think they work quite well!

Hi all!

Sorry for the lack of updates lately.. very busy at work and then DF & I have been away this weekend! Had a little mini-break to Torquay on the Southwest coast - we chose to go there as his football team was playing there lol but it's a really nice part of the country - the weather was perfect too! :goodvibes

driving past Stone Henge on our way there..

In wedding news, we went to our venue on Friday for food-tasting! :thumbsup2 my parents came with us - we had chosen two dishes from each course to sample, we also got to try the house wines to pick which type we wanted served with our wedding breakfast.

So our menu will be..

Parma Ham & Parmesan salad

Chicken stuffed with swiss cheese & ham, served on a bed of caramelised onions - with seasonal vegetables & cubed roast potatoes.

Lemon tart

Coffee & Truffles

We also tried a smoked salmon dish as a start (appetiser), but realised many family members don't like fish.. we decided against beef with Yorkshire pudding for entree as everyone likes beef cooked a certain way! And we tried a creme brulee with shortbread as our second pudding, but all agreed with the lemon tart was delicious and that more people would enjoy it :thumbsup2

While we were there we talked over many of the wedding details with our planner :goodvibes

We also picked our drinks reception items:

Pimms cocktails with two canapes - smoked salmon & caviar blinis and duck spring rolls.

And the evening buffet will consist of:

Prawn parcels
Open sandwiches
Mini jacket potatoes with sour cream
Goats Cheese tartlets
Cheese & French Bread
Langoustines in batter
Vegetable Samosas
Salmon fish cakes
Chicken & Mango sticks

and also our wedding cake as a dessert, as it will be a tower of 100 cupcakes! :goodvibes

It was a really good meeting & lovely to be at our venue - we are so happy that's where we'll be getting married!! :lovestruc

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend,

Emma princess: x

Your menu sounds yummy! I love your idea for a cupcake tower. That sounds like so much fun. I don't like cake so I wanted pies for our wedding, but my mother in law said I was crazy so we opted for the traditional cake, but I wish I had done the pies. :thumbsup2

I was at Stonehenge 2 weeks ago - amazing!!!

Your food choices sound incredible! And, since I was just in England visiting my sister, I know what a jacket potato is! :rotfl:

I can't believe you just drove by Stonehenge and didn't stop!! That's something I've seen on tv or in pictures...it seems like it's in another world! I would have freaked out if I was driving by it! But I suppose you don't live too far so it's not as big of a deal?

Glad you had a nice weekend away and got some wedding stuff done. You can tell someone is watching what they eat when the "cheese and french bread" is the thing I went "oooh" at, amongst all that food! :lmao: Love the idea of a cupcake tower too. Can't wait for all the pictures!!!

Thank goodness I wasn't the only one who did that! :lmao:

Sounds like you had a great weekend! :thumbsup2

Love all the food choices and you can add me to the people that went 'ooh' over the cheese and french bread!! :rotfl: I have seen many cupcake wedding towers and they look awesome! Do you know what type of cake/cupcakes you are getting? Sorry, if it has already been covered - must have missed/forgotten the detail :)

Thank you! we're really excited about our cake.. the top tier will be a fruit cake so we can still do the traditional 'cake cutting' photos :goodvibes but the rest will be seven tiers of cupcakes mmm!

Hi! lol how funny you were there just a few weeks ago :thumbsup2 - did you have a good time in England?
Oh yes I forgot.. they're 'baked potatoes' in the US aren't they?! ;) - when I went to WDW in 2009 with DF's family - that was the one thing that his Mum & sisters really wanted to eat, and I couldn't think of anywhere that sold them in the World? :confused3 lol

Hi Nikki!

It is quite surreal just driving by Stone Henge .. it is a very special site in the UK, but I went once as a child & it feels a bit like a 'been there, done that' sort of place?! - you get a good view of it from driving by as the roads are not allowed to be too close to the historic site and are only one lane wide :thumbsup2

ps do I see I have a new facebook friend now?! yay!!

Thank goodness I wasn't the only one who did that! :lmao:

hehe! actually the cheese & French bread was one of the items we picked out first.. a lot of people like cheese as a dessert so it'll be a nice item on the evening buffet!

Sounds like you had a great weekend! :thumbsup2

Hi! the cupcakes are going to be: 50 vanilla sponge with jam center, and 50 chocolate with chocolate chip ... all will have ivory frosting on top with icing flowers & butterflies on top to decorate :cutie:
(I've also ordered two extra to be put in the bride & groom suite at the hotel.. I don't think we'll have time to eat a cake at the reception but I definitely want to try one! :cutie:)

2 months to go.. wow!!! :yay:

I remember hearing about Torquay on Fawlty Towers, that old John Cleese show (so funny!)-- looks like a lovely place from your pictures.
Your menu looks great- I think you definitely made a good call with the entree-- people are definitely fussy with beef!

Looks like you had a lovely weekend and your wedding menu sounds great :thumbsup2 Love the cupcake tower, they are becoming more and more popular now over the traditional wedding cake, really cute idea :)

I wish I lived in Europe so I could just "drive past" something like Stone Henge. It looks like you had a fun weekend away. I've never heard of Torquay, but it looks really beautiful.

I love everything you chose for the menu! It sounds so yummy and what a great variety! I think your guests will be very happy! :goodvibes

Can you believe we're under 2 months?!

Yes, I had a fabulous time in England!!! My sister goes to Worcester College and so she was able to give us an 8 day sight seeing adventure and it was spectacular!!! Yep, they're baked potatoes here! I like "jacket" better though so maybe I'll borrow that! :rotfl:

The wedding plans are wonderful!!! :goodvibes
