Barbie finds her Prince Charming- our English wedding & Disneymoon June 2011!

So glad you got your rings! :D Must be a relief for sure!! Can't wait to see pictures!

My DF got my engagement ring and wedding ring as a set- so they match perfectly with one another... now all we have to do is find one for him! Luckily I think his will be a lot easier! :rotfl:

Last week I ordered some shoes.. in the hope that they might be suitable for my wedding shoes!

I decided a while ago that I'd like to get pink shoes for the wedding... no one will be able to see them under the dress.. and I am known by most friends & family for always wearing pink!

So I saw these in the Next catalogue (this picture isn't quite the same.. mine have a strap around the back & heel isn't as high.. but will give you an idea!)..

NextpinkCorsageshoes.jpg

They were only £32, so I didn't mind buying them & not being completely sure.. when they did arrive, I realised that the heel was going to be (a) too big to be comfortable to wear for 12+ hours - and (b) I would probably be taller than Steve  ... we are the same height, so I tend not to wear heels very often anymore.

So the hunt for my wedding shoes continues! There are not many pink shoes around at the moment.. I'm hoping the Spring/Summer ranges will be out soon though & I will have another look.
But.. I now have a fabulous pair of shoes for my hen party in May! :woohoo:

that's nice that your rings came together! does the wedding band fit around the engagement ring? :goodvibes

Yes it is much easier picking men's wedding rings! although DF did have to check with me which finger it is worn on :confused3 - "third finger, left hand" .. I just think of the song!

I do love your idea of pink shoes!! I really love it when brides put their own special touches in their wedings :)

Yay for getting your rings! That is so exciting. I hope you'll post a pic of them! :goodvibes And I love those shoes. I am having a hard time finding shoes for the wedding. Miguel and I are the same height too, so I don't want to wear high heels and be taller than him in the pictures. Most flat shoes are so boring, though. :confused3 I did find out, though, that apparently you can take a pair of heels to a shoe repair store and they can actually shorten the heel for you. According to the shoe man, they do that all the time. I figure if I can't find a cute pair of flats, I could always try that route. :thumbsup2

Yay for getting your wedding rings :goodvibes and those shoes are very cute :)

I still gotta research mine. I need two pairs, one for the cobblestones on the way to the venue and another pair for the rest of the day.

Those shoes are fantastic! You're probably right-- more pink shoes will come out in the spring. Are you set on that dusty shade or are you open to hot pink? I love colored shoes for brides-- great for pictures!

I'm mostly looking at light pink shoes, so they'd match the bridesmaid dresses & flowers.. but any pink really! :goodvibes

cobblestone shoes.. eek! :cutie: hehe.. hope plans are going well for your wedding still? :bride:

thank you! I thought quite early on about having pink shoes.. it just wouldn't be me if I wasn't wearing something pink on the day! :cutie:

yes once we get the rings I'll post a pic.. there's not really much to them, just two bands.. but they're lovely! :goodvibes I agree about flat shoes, it's hard to find interesting ones!
A friend did send me this link recently..

Red foot shoes - Disney Limited Edition

shame those aren't in more 'wedding' styles, or pink!

That's really interesting about getting heels shortened.. I will pop into a shoemakers next time I'm in town & ask! :thumbsup2

Hi all,

So tonight I got home from work, and I had something exciting in the post..

IMG_0088.jpg

My two maids of honour (sister and cousin) have sent out invites to my hen party! (what we call a bridal shower in the UK lol)

Inside was cute flower confetti & little sheets of information..

IMG_0086.jpg

and this really lovely little poem!

IMG_0090.jpg

I'd given them a list of my friends/family that I wanted to invite.. and that I'd like a spa day followed by dinner & cocktails.. and they have taken over from there! :goodvibes

we're going to a lovely hotel in Surrey & using the spa, having a treatment each, afternoon tea & champagne.. then we're going to Brighton - having dinner out and drinks.. then spend the Sunday recovering on the seaside! :woohoo:

I'm so excited for it! It will be 3 weeks before the wedding, and steve's stag party will be the weekend after :thumbsup2

what is also amazing is that they live 200 miles apart.. but apparently on my sister's day off this week, she drove all the way up to my cousin's to do the invites together!!

Awww, your sister and cousin planned such a fun party for you!! The invites are so cute. I remember when you had your cousin's party, now it's your turn!! Getting closer......

Sounds like a fun bachlorette party!! The best of everything-- spa, drinks with the girls, the beach!

Wow, they are really on top of things! How sweet that your sister drove all that way to work on the invites. It sounds like you all of going to have a great time! :goodvibes

That sounds like so much fun!!!! You guys will have a great time!!

thank you! I'm really looking forward to it... it'll be so much fun to have friends from school/university/work and family all together for a weekend! :cutie:

I know! can't believe that was nearly a year ago.. I'm still not used to calling my cousin by her married surname.. seems so grown up that she is a 'Mrs' now! :goodvibes

I think it's going to be really amazing - my MoHs are both really clever at planning surprises :thumbsup2 - although we're going to the beach, it's an English beach.. so it's stones & very cold water! but Brighton is such a fun town - my parents live there now & love it!

I know they are so organised! The weekend of the hen party is also a bank holiday weekend here, so I think they wanted to send invites out early because people are likely to plan things for a 3-day weekend :goodvibes

Hi everyone!

Today marks 20 weeks until the wedding! can't believe a month of 2011 is almost over!

Men's Suits

This morning Steve & I went to a suit hire shop for him to try on wedding suits!
It was a really nice shop & although quite busy, the staff really took time with us to talk through all the options & let him try on different style jackets, trousers, waistcoats etc :thumbsup2

He has chosen.. a dark grey/black morning suit, white shirt, ivory waistcoat with a swirly pattern, ivory cravat & black patent shoes :goodvibes
He looked so smart & handsome! we paid the deposit & now need to take the ushers & best man to the shop to get them fitted ... it's so nice to have another thing off 'the list' - and we're pretty much done now for the big planning items! :yay:

Guest 'book' frames

Rather than having a guest book, we've bought two photo frames for people to write on (think I posted a picture of one a few months ago!)
After the wedding we'll put photos of our wedding day in them, but for the reception - we're thinking of having one that says 'please sign here', and the other with a recent photo of us (in NYC!)

Presents for bridesmaids

I've taken some photos of the gifts for our bridesmaids! ...

For the older girls - I'm going to give them these necklaces on the wedding morning...

close up..

hidden mickey! We saw these in WDW last month, I think it's quite a subtle Disney necklace - hope they like them!

Also for the girls, we've got them a bracelet each.. we'll give them these during the speeches at the reception..

IMG_0837-1.jpg

To put in the gift bag with these, we have bought each one of them a Yankee Candle called 'Wedding Day' :goodvibes

For the flower girl, we got her a necklace & bracelet in WDW..

IMG_0838-1.jpg

And also this camera and notebook.. it's a "My Day as a Bridesmaid" set.. really cute!

IMG_0836.jpg

This week I ordered a basket & petals for the flowergirl too..

IMG_0835.jpg

(I'm going to buy a new ribbon for it as the one supplied is a bit dull)

Honeymoon Clothes

I've also bought a couple more things for honeymoon!

This dress should be good for Victoria & Albert's or Remy on honeymoon :cloud9:

IMG_0849.jpg

(it looks tiny hanging up but really isn't that short! lol)

and this top..

IMG_0832.jpg

I'm thinking of wearing it with white cropped trousers - really like the fabric!

This is awesome!! A great idea...

Your lucky fellow deserves a pat on the back.. Hes one lucky man as you are truly stunning!!!

I wish you both all the best, and with all the happiness you desire...

Wedding Favours

I thought of these for wedding favours ages ago.. I wanted something that tied in with our honeymoon..

Men

Each male guest at the wedding will be getting... a WDW aerial topper!

IMG_0843-1.jpg

Women

and each female guest will be getting... a Mickey cookie cutter!

IMG_0847.jpg

with recipe for the Main Street Bakery cookies

IMG_0845.jpg

Each favour will also contain info about our photographer's website, and a photo bucket account where our guests can upload their photos (we thought this was better & a bit more 'modern' than having disposable cameras on each table?!)

IMG_0834.jpg

So pleased with the favours! my parents bought most of the cookie cutters & aerial toppers on one of their trips to WDW, and we bought a few more in December :thumbsup2 - the organza bags were from a website that sold them for a great price!

The recipe cards etc will be printed on ivory card for the real favours.. I just put together prototypes today!

What does everyone think?

ps - also, this evening - we were cooking dinner & my ipod shuffled to 'Little Wonders' by Rob Thomas (from 'Meet the Robinsons' soundtrack).. I had thought this would be a great song for our first dance.. so asked Steve if he thought it was suitable (because most people wouldn't know it)... and he agreed!!! :woohoo: so we have our first dance song officially picked

Little Wonders - Rob Thomas

Awww, I LOVE that song from Meet the Robinsons! So glad you decided on that as your song!

You're getting so much accomplished! :worship: We went to look for the men's attire this weekend too! I think we've got the looks picked out and we've got the suits reserved and got Miguel measured. Now we just have to arrange for the groomsmen to get measured. I think we're going to end up just buying Miguel's tux instead of renting his like the groomsmen, so we'll still have to do that, but at least now we know exactly what to look for. :thumbsup2 We also looked at rings a little and got his size.

I love your first dance song! :cloud9:

Followed you over from the June 2011 board. You're wedding plans look absolutely wonderful. I love the top that you have in your photo. It is really pretty. What great gift ideas sticking with a true Disney theme. The necklace for your bridesmaids are really cute and like you said, very subtle. I think everyone will love what you have picked out. :cutie:
