Barbie finds her Prince Charming- our English wedding & Disneymoon June 2011!

Looks like you had a lovely weekend :)

I was up at the Ritz end of Piccadilly on Saturday and I saw that Duck tour boat. How weird would it have been if we were both there at the same time but didn't see each other :teeth:

Thank you - they were very unusual favours, so personal to the couple too! :lovestruc

That purple is actually a dress - I bought it last year for my December trip to WDW! :goodvibes
This is a better picture of it..

my sister & I had a 'party' in world showcase to celebrate her 21st bday, so we got dressed up!

Yeah that would've been funny! our duck tour went by about 2.30pm.. 'it's a small world' ! :goodvibes .. actually, I think it would've been a different weekend... you were in Italy that weekend, I think?! ;)

Looks like a great wedding. As a previous mother of the bride, I must say I do not agree with her choice to not invite all the people to the whole event. Its like telling those guests, "while we like you.... we don't like you THAT much!!" Its not right. I believe if you cannot afford to include every guest in all the festivities, then you need to scale back your festivities. I wonder if money was the reason she chose not to invite some to the evening affair? People do all sorts of things, but its not always the best choice. Perhaps the ceremony included many of her parents friends who were not included in the evening party which was of her own friends? Its hard to speculate.

....

Did the wedding seem like it was missing something without the Disney touches? :sad2:

lol yup Mindy, no Disney touches to that wedding ;) but that's what'll make mine special to DF & I :cloud9: hehe.

I think you're right, not everyone was invited to the evening meal due to the cost of it.. it's quite usual here to invite more people just to the evening reception, I'd just never heard of doing it the other way around! I'm sure the other guests were fine with it though :goodvibes

I bet spending the weekend in wedding mode is getting you excited for yours! Unfortunately I don't know anyone getting married anytime soon so it looks like the next wedding I attend will be my own! I'd love to be able to get some inspiration from others, though. :thumbsup2

Hi!
Yes it was lovely to go to a wedding and sort of take notes!
I've had two weddings this year - being my cousin's MoH really gave me an idea about all the things that need to planned & thought through! :goodvibes and another friend is getting married next April 30th - that'll be 6 weeks before our weddings .. wow!! :cloud9:

Oh I thought it was this weekend, as funny enough we finished around 2:30pm that day :)

thanks for sharing! Looks like you had fun! Seeing your pictures of London makes me miss it! (DH will be happy about that) Its been so long since we've been back.

Glad you liked the London photos! How long has it been since you guys were in the UK? You could have another honeymoon over here (it might not be as magical as WDW though hehe! :cutie:)

Hi everyone!

Some exciting news this week... I had an email from our TR with info & prices for the Grand Floridian! :yay:

I knew we wanted at least a lagoon view room - but, looking at the prices, it wasn't that much more to upgrade to...

MainStreet.jpg

a Magic Kingdom view!! :cloud9:

it was actually just a few more hundred $s for a concierge room! but.. I'm not sure how much we'd use the CL lounge/amenities... so decided to stick at MK view; I'm still pretty overwhelmed by the price of this hotel!
However I know we're in such a lucky position that DF's parents are contributing to our honeymoon & we're saving lots ourselves for the wedding/hm.

Also.. I have this really clear memory of the last day of a trip to WDW with DF in October 2008..
We'd left MK, and were gazing across the lake to the GF (I took these photos..)

and Steve said "that looks amazing, doesn't it? We'll have to stay there some day.. maybe for a special trip here" .... :cloud9:

So.. I need to phone our TA on monday to confirm the booking... but we're almost another step closer to our dream trip!! :wizard:
Oh and DF hasn't once asked what type of room we're getting at the GF (he knows at BWV we can have garden/water/boardwalk).. so I'm planning to keep it a secret for as long as possible!! ;)

This is excellent!! Congratulations on booking such an amazing (and romantic) room for the honeymoon! I am soooo jealous! :lovestruc please take some great pics to share with us once you're back!

Your disneymoon is going to be absolutely magical! :wizard: A MK view at the GF?! What an amazing way to spend the honeymoon. And it sounds like you've picked the perfect location - I love what Steve said about staying there for something special!

Thanks ladies :goodvibes ... I'm so excited about staying at the Grand Floridian!

Since 2002 I've only stayed at DVC resorts lol so it's been a new experience to look into the other Disney resorts - not just phone DVC guest services/phone my Dad to ask how many points we have left!

I'm really hoping Steve loves the GF when we go there for breakfast at 1900 Park Fare in December!!
I'm going to watch his reaction when we walk in to the lobby :wizard:

This is just a little something I've been thinking about...

I know brides often give the groom a present on the wedding day - for example, my cousin gave her husband-to-be some cufflinks, she gave them to the Best Man so that it would be a surprise for him :goodvibes

So.. I don't think I'd get cufflinks, as DF already has a pair of silver ones that have his football (soccer) team's crest on them, and he's mentioned that he's going to wear those!

Then I though, he doesn't wear a watch.. never has, he either checks his phone for the time - or asks me!!
So maybe a watch is a good idea - then I had a brainwave, what if his football club makes a watch.. and.. they do!!

Watch-Gents.gif

and I think it's quite nice! it has the club's badge on it (quite small) - and I think he's more likely to like it/wear it if it's got that logo on it! :goodvibes

I'd give it to one of the ushers (MoH's husband, they'll be spending the wedding eve at DF's parents house) to give to him.. with a gift tag that says "...see you at 2 'o' clock xxx"

Does that sound like a good idea? just wondering what other people do for presents for their future husband! :lovestruc

oooh I just found this on youtube...

Grand Floridian :goodvibes

I'd not even thought about being able to see Wishes from an MK view room at the GF!! :goodvibes
Might have to order some champagne from room service & sit on our balcony to watch the fireworks :wizard:

Aww, I've always thought how perfect the GF is for a honeymoon. I think that's what DBF and I'll do when the day comes. He even mentioned that he'd rather wait until his honeymoon to stay there so the honeymoon would be ultra special :lovestruc
I love the idea of a watch with a logo of his football team! That's perfect-- very personal and tailored to him. Who does he support?? My dad supports Liverpool, my brother Leeds, and my DBF Arsenal, so every soccer conversation they have always turns ugly!

lol that is a mix of football supporters in your family! ;) DF supports Port Vale - they are a small team in League 2, his family are from that area of Stoke so that's why he supports them.. he also follows Chelsea as they are on tv more often (and win a few more matches than Vale :rolleyes1 hehe)

He is absolutely crazy about football and sports in general.. guess it's like me & Disney!!
Have you seen that movie "Fever Pitch" with Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon? That film really reminds me of DF & his love of sports - weekends during the season are planned around what matches are on
I like that he feels so passionate about something though! most men in England are footie mad any way hehe.

I think the watch is a great idea! Believe it or not, I had been thinking about the same thing for Miguel! He has been mentioning over and over how much he wants a really nice watch. I thought the wedding would be a perfect time! Again with the similarities! :lmao: I love your idea about the little note you could put on the box. It's perfect!

Watching Wishes from your balcony at the GF sounds so romantic!

Sounds like its going to be a wonderfully romantic honeymoon for you guys :goodvibes

The watch as a gift just before the ceremony is a great idea, your DF will love it :goodvibes

The watch sounds like a great gift idea!

Oooooh, Wishes from GF balcony! So romantic! :lovestruc

We haven't been back to the UK since DH moved here to be with me. (He is from Bournemouth) which was almost 3 years ago. We are moving back in about 2 years. but I doubt we'll have the time or money to have a visit. which is kind of sad. I lived there for like 8 months before DH decided to move here so I could finish school.

Thats so great that you can have a MK view! so magical.

The watch is a great idea, especially being a football club watch! (hm....I should consider that for DH sometime) I got my DH a pocketwatch for ours and he loved it. So I think thats a great idea.
