Barbie finds her Prince Charming- our English wedding & Disneymoon June 2011!

Yay! What a great way to celebrate your birthday! I saw the Lion King on Broadway a few years ago and was absolutely amazed... what an amazing show! :goodvibes

Awesome!! I was just saying that Lion Kin has been on Broadway for over 10 years and I've never seen it! Lucky!

Have an awesome time princess: Just jumped in and started following your thread this week and I'm hooked!

Cant wait to hear more!

What a wonderful way to spend a birthday!!!

awesome! That is what I told DH he has to buy me for my birthday! Hope you enjoy it!

Thank you all! I'm so excited to see it again, it's so unlike any other musical :cloud9:
From the soundtrack, I love the songs "Endless Night" and "Shadow land" - it's really clever that Tim Rice/Elton John were able to reuse melodies from the movie & turn them into songs for the stage show!
and I get the song 'Morning Report' stuck in my head most days at work, because I have to run 'morning reports' as part of my job  lol!!

Yay thank you for coming over 'here' Rachel! :goodvibes

I am gradually adding to the vacation clothes for both the December trip & honeymoon! :rolleyes1 last week I bought some boots ready for NYC.. I think it's going to be cold! but probably not much colder than England in December hehe. :santa:

Really?! You MUST see it. Last year, it came to the Kennedy Center in Washington DC and we took Heidi for her 7th birthday present. It was spectacular!!! :lovestruc

Emma, I really love all the clothes you bought! They're so cute. And NYC in December will be cold, but probably no colder than where you live. My DD's DH took her to New York City for her birthday Aug. 16th. She went to Time Square and to a giant Disney Store and they also went to a huge Toys R Us store. They took a photo with the statue of the WWII Sailor kissing the Nurse that is now in Times Square. Its a copy of the iconic prize winning photo. That is a must do!! Here's a the photoshopped version of their pic. Her friend fixed up the pic to remove extra people from the scene.

Have Fun! XO

That's the first thing I thought of.... and how you called one of the men in your group Gaston. Sorry, I don't remember which one it was. Its permanently a Disney name! :earsboy:

I didn't know there was a statue of that famous kiss! :confused3 How have I never seen it before!!

The Toys R Us store is fun. Did they open the Disney Store in Times Square?? The World of Disney store unfortunately closed. That was the best place to get a disney fix because they sold WDW and DL exclusive merch...not like what they sell at your run-of-the-mill Disney Store. I heard they were putting a giant Disney store in Times Square but hadn't heard that it opened yet. Now that DH isn't working in the city anymore, we might be able to go more often on the weekends! (When you commute 5 days a week the last thing you want to do on your day off, is go back into the city!)

I just heard that the other day!! They should name ALL the storms after Disney characters!

Wow, those turtles got really close to DBF's family! Crazy!
I love the Lion King!! I've seen it a couple of times on Broadway and it ALWAYS amazes me. The music is sooo good.

I didn't know there was a statue of the kiss either until Lily told me about it. Maybe its fairly new. Yep, the Giant Disney Store in Times Square opened. Lily bought Heidi a cute t shirt with Minnie Mouse dressed as the Statue of Liberty and it says New York on it. We have a Minnie plushie wearing the Statue of Liberty outfit. Its about the size of the world showcase Minnies, maybe a tad bigger. They have the $13 price point character's at World Showcase and a $15 size that is slightly larger, but not dressed in the WS country outfits. I have an Uncle Sam Mickey that I bought last July in the gift shop you walk into after the Hall of Presidents.

Sounds like you need DH to take you into the city this weekend for a nice Disney fix. And while you're at it, pick me up some bialys... we can't get them in DC! lol ;)

Hi everyone!
Hope the weekend has been good.. 3 days off in the USA right?! :goodvibes

We went to my school friend's wedding yesterday.. we've been friends for 14 years now (met aged 11!) but since graduating university she has spent most of her time living in Africa, working for a children's charity. And while there, she met a man to marry!
Luckily they had the wedding here in England, but they'll be heading back to Africa in a few weeks to buy a house there :guilty: she'll be missed here! I've invited them to my wedding but not sure if it'll be possible with the airfare.

Here are some photos of the hen party (last Saturday)..

And the wedding...

It was held in a village near where I used to live in Kent.. ceremony was in a church (very religious with a lot of hymns & prayers.. our civil ceremony will be much shorter & less formal lol)

Then there was drinks & cakes in the church hall

- my friend had invited everyone to this (over 100 people!) but then only about 50-60 guests were invited on to the breakfast & evening entertainment.. I thought that was quite unusual (DF and I are inviting more people to our evening party at the wedding!) but luckily we were among the 'select few' who got to go to the whole wedding :goodvibes

It was a really nice wedding :bride:

Today has been all studying & housework for me - nice and chilled out though!

Aww, sounds like a lovely weekend/wedding! That's great that you were able to spend time with your friends from school!

Looks like a great wedding. As a previous mother of the bride, I must say I do not agree with her choice to not invite all the people to the whole event. Its like telling those guests, "while we like you.... we don't like you THAT much!!" Its not right. I believe if you cannot afford to include every guest in all the festivities, then you need to scale back your festivities. I wonder if money was the reason she chose not to invite some to the evening affair? People do all sorts of things, but its not always the best choice. Perhaps the ceremony included many of her parents friends who were not included in the evening party which was of her own friends? Its hard to speculate.

The barn dancing did look fun! And the picnic in Hyde Park with the plaid picnic blankets looked absolutely delightful!

Many years ago my sister and I were both bridemaids in a very large Catholic wedding with a full mass. It was so incredibly long. With lots of hymns and talking. When the Christians kneeled down on the kneelers, we didn't quite know what we were supposed to do with ourselves. We had not been given a heads up on this Christian custom.

Did the wedding seem like it was missing something without the Disney touches? :sad2:
