Barbie finds her Prince Charming- our English wedding & Disneymoon June 2011!

Thanks everyone for the thumbs up on the possible music choices :thumbsup2

Mindy, we can't have hymns because it's not a church wedding - in England we can either have a christian church wedding, or a secular one (we've chosen the latter) - known as a 'civil ceremony' .. to keep the two separate, there's very strict rules on what songs/poems/readings etc are allowed - no mentioning God, Jesus or anything to do with religion!
whereas if we had a church wedding, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be allowed to walk down the aisle to a Disney song! :rolleyes1

I have to smile when I hear the traditional Wagner wedding song now... when my cousin was planning her wedding she said to me "I want that song, you know, 'Here Comes the Bride'..." unfortunately, she started humming the Imperial March(Darth Vader's theme) from Star Wars by mistake!! :rotfl:
(they're actually quite similar tunes when you think about it lol)

OMG... that is hilarious :rotfl2: about your cousin and the Darth Vader theme... !!

In America, there's nobody who has any control over the music and readings for a wedding other than the family having the wedding. My daughter also chose a civil ceremony. I don't even remember what tune she walked down the isle to. I know it was on a CD of wedding music she bought at the craft store. The wedding was performed by a person authorized by our county as a civil celebrant! We had a woman. And it turned out that my daughter's matron of honor had had the same civil celebrant at her wedding. Her friend had a civil ceremony, and then did a church ceremony later because they were going on a cruise, and the cruise line required them to have a marriage license because of where they were going because the bride was only 19. So they went and had a civil ceremony at the courthouse and still did their small church wedding. My DH and I got married in the University of Maryland campus main chapel. It is a very large traditional colonial style building with a white tall steeple and white columns and marble steps. I'll post a pic of it if I can find one online. Its used by all different religions though. We had a fairly traditional Jewish wedding. The Jewish Clergy who married us was a khazan (cantor) not a rabbi. Khazans can perform weddings too. We did a more modern ceremony in terms of vows, but it really was a good blend of traditional and modern. We had a friend read the love poem from Corinthians, which is from the new testament which is Christian, but we liked it.

I'm sure your civil ceremony will be just lovely and very meaningful. And the Disney tunes will make it uniquely yours.:cloud9:

This is a little off topic... but I can no longer post on my Dec'2009 TR lol

It's taken me over 7 months to do, but yesterday I finally finished a scrapbook for my December 2009 trip to WDW with my sister! :santa:
I did a lot of it in April/May but then left it for weeks.. so pleased it's finished, it was my first attempt at a scrapbook and I'm quite happy with how it turned out! the pages are quite busy & full of colour - it suits the vacation though because we squeezed sooo much in to our 5 days there!

Here are some pics of it...

Next time I think I will get a larger scrapbook (this one was 8" - but as I won it during the trip, I had to use it!) - but it was definitely fun to make; the words are just my Dis TR printed out!

PS - Toy Story 3 finally came out at cinemas in England today! :yay: Steve & I have tickets booked to see it tomorrow - he is also excited about seeing the movie; this will be our first cinema-experience in 3D too! :3dglasses

Your scrapbook looks awesome!!

So glad you finally get to see TS3! Bring tissues!!!!

Your scrapbook looks great--I love how you used lots of word descriptions. I didn't do a TR for our last trip, and now I really regret it. From now on, I think I'll do "journals" in addition to my scrapbooks, so I can remember every little detail!
You will ADORE TS3! It's a terrific movie!

Love your scrapbook. Its nice that you have all that to print out and put in there. I never know what to write other than titles. Usually, by the time I get to finishing the scrapbook, its been so long that I have forgotten what we did and all the small details. I haven't even started my Alaska Cruise 2008 trip with the whole family, incl. parents, siblings and their kids. I have however, done my July 09 album, but here I'm leaving in 22 days and I haven't even STARTED my Spring Break album. I must at least do the pages in Heidi's autograph book, so she can take it with her and finish it off. I think she's got about 8 autograph pages left. I save a page on the opposite side for the photo. I need to print those already!

Why can't you post on your Dec 09 report anymore? Is it because you printed it and scrapbooked it?

I think the moderators close down the TRs once they've seen that the writer has completed the trip! Guess it's fair enough, there are soo many threads on these boards! :surfweb:

I better make sure I have plenty of tissues in my bag for the movie tomorrow; Steve's sister saw it this afternoon & she texted me to say that she cried during it! :sad1: and I get choked up even in the happiest of Disney movies/shows/songs/fireworks  lol

I love the scrapbook! It looks like you put a lot of hard work into that! I'm really hoping I can do one for the disneymoon. I did a scrapbook for Miguel back for our 1 year anniversary that included about 4 Disney pages from our first trip. I had so much fun making it.

Love the scrapbook! You will appreciate all the hard work you've put into it each time you look back on those great memories. Good job!!! :thumbsup2

Oh it is an emotional Toy Story 3!! and I didn't even see it in 3D. We viewed the regular version. We took Heidi for her 8th birthday on July 1st with 6 of her little friends and my neighbor. popcorn::

Hi everyone!

Just back from the cinema and just had to say we LOVED Toy Story 3!!
Possibly my favourite of the trilogy... it had everything! :goodvibes
First movie we've seen in 3D and thought that was great too - forgot I had the glasses on after while, no 'cheap 3D tricks' as Fozzy says in Muppet Vision :3dglasses

I managed not to cry until the last ten minutes, then the waterfall started :sad1:

I also love that Barbie and Ken are in it so much!!

Best be off to bed, it's a 'school night' !

So glad you loved it! I knew you would! Yes, the end is like :sad1:.
You have to be made of stone not to cry during that scene!

Barbie and Ken were hysterical!! Agreed, those last few minutes were SO emotional! Even DBF got a bit teary--though he'd never admit it!!

Glad you enjoyed it, v excited now to see it this weekend :teeth:

Hi!
So... yesterday marked 11 months until the disneymoon begins :goodvibes
which means... we could book our DVC home resort (Boardwalk) for the one night before the cruise! :woohoo:

Yes.. we would like to stay at Kidani Village - but as it's not our home resort, we can't book it just yet (have to wait til November for that one!) - but rather than have no where to stay (and, just so I could phone Disney!), I've made a reservation at the Boardwalk villas - which is likely to be replaced with an AKL one in 4 months time lol .

I spoke to the loveliest CM! He was puzzled why I coming all the way from England & only booking one night - until I explained it was our honeymoon and that we'd be setting off on the Disney Dream the next day! :cloud9:

Just wanted to share this little 'disney goosebump' moment :wizard:

Emma princess: x

Coolbeans for booking BWV. It must have felt weird (but in a good way) to say "yes we are staying one night before our cruise to celebrate our honeymoon" :teeth:

Congrats on booking! I totally know what you mean about just booking SOMETHING even though it's not where you're going to actually be staying! Haha!
