What can you tell me about getting your hair cut at the barbershop here?? My son is interested in getting his cut -- how much do they charge? And do you just walk-in to get it done or do you make an appointment?
Any info. would be greatly appreciated :) :) :)

Mrs. YEKCIM, the little YEKCIM-ette and I all three got our hairs cut about three weeks ago at the MK shop; we had maybe a ten to fifteen minute wait for a chair/barber. I don't believe they take reservations so it is strictly first come, first served. We planned this (we were all pretty shaggy by WDW week...) as an afternoon "event", figuring by then the ride lines would be long (they were) and the temp would be hot (it was). Cost was not bad...$14 for child, and $17 for adult, if I remember correctly, plus I included the customary tip. My cut was below par, but Mrs. YEKCIM's and little YEKCIM-ette's were great, plus they got sprinkles and YEKCIM-ette got a colored gel Miskey Head on the side of her coif. Neat experience, and I recommend it. The shop is tiny, located in an out of the way spot, and I have never seen it very crowded. If there is a wait, come back later. The Emporium is right next door...

This is something every family should do once...and take your camera. Great scrapbooking pics!

My DH said he haircut wasn't great (ex-military and VERY pick when it comes to his and DS's hair) BUT he said the other woman did a FANTASTIC job with DS's hair. DD skipped the cut (she was trying to grow hers out) but for $5 you can get just the color gel and sprinkles. I was the only one who didn't opt to do this little "treat" but one of the barbers snuck up behind me and threw a handful of mickey "dust" (glitter/conffetti) in my hair saying we should all match.

We went just before the afternoon parade was to start so the line wasn't bad.

One word of warning...the color gel washes out (doesn't stain) but it is extemely MESSY. We had it all OVER our shirts and our hands...and we wore white shirts that day (bad idea). The gel will smear on everything until it dries and depending on how thick they apply it...it can take a while to dry. I even had orange and green smears on the pillowcases that night. No telling what mousekeeping thought about that! :artist:

We did this in 04. My 2yo dd got her first haircut and my bil got his hair cut and decorated and my older dd just got the decorations. They loved it and they loved all the attention they got in the parks. Everyone was asking where they got there hair done. We had maybe a 10 minute wait, they don't take ressies. Here are some pictures of the kids.

My son gets his hair cut every trip. We sometimes have to try several times before we find a time where the line isn't too long. My daughter doesn't get her hair cut but they are always nice and give her some "pixie dust" in it as soon as they finish her brother's haircut (you just have to ask them). I always wonder how much of that glitter and gel is "clogging the arteries" of the WDW plumbing system!

My two boys had their hair cut at the barber shop. We were one of the first in the morning.

They did a great job with DS5 he had sprinkles and green gel. Everyone said he looked like a Christmas tree! DS(22 months at the time) would not sit still and they ended up taking a chunk out of his hair. He was still cute though! :)

My DD and DS both got their hair done at the barber shop during our last visit and they both loved it sooo much that they are planning on doing it again for our next trip. I have to agree with a previous post about the gel being messy though. My kids both had their hair done soon after the park opened, and it was "wet" for awhile. We headed over to Toontown to see some characters to give it more time to dry before we hit any rides, and I was a nervous wreck because I was afraid that the hair gel would get on the princess' dresses. My kids got a lot of compliments and a lot of people would ask us where we got it done. One bit of advice that I would like to give is: don't get your hair done on the last day of your trip, especially if you have a looong drive home!! By the time we left MK, went back to our hotel to retrieve our vehicle and do some final shopping at the gift shop, both kids were running on fumes. They did not want to fall asleep in the van on the way home because they didn't want to mess up their hair!! After about 3 hours, they both crashed! DD's pillowcase was stained "princess pink" and DS's car seat was stained "peter pan green". Oh, and washing it out the next day was like pulling teeth! I don't want to scare you, but, the confetti was so stuck, I couldn't even pick it out! The pink washed out pretty well, (DD rode splash mountain during the day so some washed out) but the green wasn't so easy. After about 5 washes I finally gave up. My DS had the Mickey head on the back of his head for about 3-4 more days. (He loved the attention, so it was all good!!)

What styles do they give girls/women are they really crazy haircuts with wild colors? I've never been in the barber shop.

We tried on our last trip, but we didn't know that they close earlier than the park does - 5pm, I think.
