Baptismal gift idea from godparents?

We are the godparents of our friends little girl. She's going to be baptized in 2 weeks.

We aren't the most religious bunch of people. Her grandparents have already given her a personalized bible, cross and a few other things.

I would really like to give her something that has sentimental value and will last for years to come. Any ideas?

I was given a baby bracelet to wear on the day, and a quilt (mine was crafted, but I know Things Remembered makes them also) from my godparents. I still have that cute little bracelet somewhere in my parents basement, along with the blanket. Someday, if I ever have a daughter, she will wear them both on her baptism day.

If the cross is already taken (which, for everyone I know, is traditionally the godparents' gift), then I've also seen the personalized quilt or nice framed poem. I agree- Things Remembered is a nice place to start looking.

I also like personal creations. I've always found discount codes by googling too.
Here is there "religious gift" section- which has subcategories for baptism, etc.
But you may even find something non-religious on the rest of the site that may be appropriate

I like this frame http://www.personalcreations.com/baptism_memento_print_frame-product-6990-2-316-31601.html#
I've ordered several things from this company (and other similar ones), and have always been impressed with the quality.

Oh, and these crosses are very nice too. You didn't mention if the "cross" she already has is decorative, or a necklace (I assumed necklace)

What ever you do, DO NOT give a savings bond. It now takes 18 years for them to mature!

I wanted something special for m God daughter, so I got her a ADD a Pearl. The necklace I bought had one pearl on it. I give her a pearl for Christmas or birthday, Communion...etc... When she gets married she will have a beautiful set of pearls she can wear that has grown with her, and given to her by her godparents.

We have 2 god daughters and we gave them pewter banks from Things Engraved. The banks were really pretty they were in the shape of a Pumpkin Carriage. We got it engraved with something like "to our loving goddaughter ______ with love, _____ " with the date.

I used to give a 500.00 savings bond if I was the godmother but since they take so long now I just usually give a check for a few hundred to start their bank account off with....and of course buy the Christening gown!

In our family, it is tradition that the Godmother buys the Christening Gown and the accessories needed to go with the gown. Since this is expensive, that is her gift. The Godfather pays the fee or whatever you call it to the priest and gives a gift.

i just bacame a godmother this past sunday and i bought gown.. i also bought the cake for the lunch we had after

Likely not something many people would even consider, but my oldest DD's godmother had my DD's christening gown made from her wedding dress..:lovestruc

What I got for my DD and wished I gotten for my godchild, is a charm bracelet. You can add to it on special occasions. James Avery is a very nice mail order / online company with religious jewelry. Here is the baptismal charm. It can be engraved with the date.
