I cannot stand the huge banners at the top of the screen,
coupled with the huge arrow pop-up at the bottom
that I must continually click on to make it go away.
Seriously, does the DIS have to be this annoying??

Well, could be worse, they could start charging for access.
I have never seen those ads until last week. And ONLY in the morning. No ads in the afternoon. That continued for 3 days last week, then disappeared. Back to normal now, no ads.

I block pop-ups using my PC's options and
I have also been running fair ad blocker for a while.
Other sites do not have the huge ads like the Dis.
I am getting headaches at night due to the bottom
ad/arrow area where ads directed to my physical location
constantly flip, are very vibrant and colorful,
and like I said I have to constantly click the down arrow
to make them disappear for a moment.
I've been on the Dis for years and it's never been this bad.
Right now there are FIVE banners from top to bottom,
breaking up all of your posts,
as well as the bottom arrow banner.
Two of the banners are video screens w/ads.
Then, there's the huge sidebar ad that never goes away.
I appreciate that we don't pay a fee,
and I don't object to ads,
I just don't understand why it got so horrible so quickly.
It's ridiculous.

This topic comes up like every other week. And over and over many of us keep saying to download AdBlock Plus. It's a browser add-on.

Maybe some of you don't believe it works so you don't download it? :confused3

This is what the top of my DISboards page looks like. I have NO banner, no ads:

This is what the bottom looks like:

I was able to figure out how to personalize & configure AdBlock Plus on my computer to block even MORE stuff on a page. :cheer2: I have been able to get rid of ads on the DIS completely and even the section of Disney Headlines on the bottom of the page. Essentially the extra 3 inches of stuff that shows up at the bottom of every page. The more stuff that is blocked, the faster a page loads. :thumbsup2

Is there an Android based AdBlock available that I can't find? AdBlock on my laptop is wonderful but I am unable to find something similar for my android based phone.

Edit:. I found ublock origin for Firefox and it's working fabulous. Recommended highly.

No AdBlock Plus on Android. But I've got AdGuard AdBlocker on my Android phone and it seems to work to block the banners & ads. You can see slightly behind the Add-ons Manager tab, when I click on it to see what AdBlocker I have, that there is no banner or ad at the top of the DIS page. It's the same for the bottom. Nice & clean, no ads.

I wonder how closely monitored these ad blockers are, like they probably collect info from every screen visited, these things that can collect so much info are just flat out creepy to me.

Your internet browser does the same thing. Chrome is one of the worst offenders (they all do it but Chrome collects the most out of all of them).

Yeah… I swear I’m not looking for gorgeous Asian women 🤷🏻

Thanks for all the good advice.
I hadn't seen a thread for this particular issue lately.
It was only recently (on my screen) that it increased tremendously.

I will look into all of the recommended ad blockers.

Installed and running AdBlock Plus,
thanks Imzadi!!

I can look at the DIS without a headache or frustration tonight.
Very thankful :love2:

This is how I configured AdBlock Plus to block even MORE stuff on a page. :cheer2: I have been able to get rid of ads on the DIS completely and even the section of Disney Headlines on the bottom of the page. The DIS pages load really quickly now.

Once AdBlock Plus is installed, there will be a little red icon in the toolbar (address bar) at the top of the browser page. Click on that. A pop-up box for AdBlock Plus shows up. Scroll down and click on the blue box saying "Block element." Then use your cursor (mouse) to scroll around the page. You will see sections of stuff turning pink. (Sometimes it's huge sections and sometimes you can refine it further to just exclude a little section within the bigger section. Click on the pink area you want blocked. (You can later undo it if you want it back.) Repeat for every section/item you want blocked. :thumbsup2

Sometimes you have to click on the same item and block it a second time before it disappears, as maybe there is an extra code or something that needs to get blocked. For the DIS ads at the bottom of the page, I had to click on each ad box separately, and possibly the larger section too, to finally remove them all.

I did this for YouTube too. There are usually suggestions for other videos to watch that appear near the end while watching a video. Those boxes often block the view of what's going on in the video. I blocked each suggestion box and now, they only appear as an outline of a clear box, to show there was something there and I can watch the whole video unobstructed.
