Banking/Transfer Question

I have a banking and tranfer questions!

I have 25 points from this use year (have to bank by October 31) that I plan on banking. If I bank points by the end of my use year, can I then transfer those points to another family member's account to use? And when would they need to use the points?

I know I can only transfer once a year but I don't know how that works when banked points are involved.

You can't transfer banked points. Points transferred in can be banked.

It is my understanding that you cannot transfer banked points but that you can bank transferred points. Thus you will need to transfer them first then have the transferee bank them. Someone please correct me if I am wrong!

This brings up a question that I have not thought of before... I know that transferred points retain their home resort but do they also retain their original use year?

Transferred points retain their original home resort and use year.

This brings up a question that I have not thought of before... I know that transferred points retain their home resort but do they also retain their original use year?

When I had points transferred in, they retained the UY but the banking window was not applied. I had until the last day of the UY to bank them. I was told this by the CM who did the transfer, then 2 more times when I made reservations with the transferred points.

A slightly different question...

I have an OCT UY and 72 banked 2013 points. When do those points need to be used before they expire? Oct 1 2014? Oct 31 2014? Or a different date altogether?

think about it slowly:

an oct UY runs from oct 1 to sept 30. so oct 2013 UY runs from oct 1, 2013 to sept 30, 2014. when you bank those pts forward, they become valid for stays from oct 1, 2014 to sept 30, 2015.

if you haven't used them to complete a stay by sept 30, 2015, they disappear into the void...

Make sure you know what you have. You are still in your 2013 UY. If you banked 2013 points into your 2014 use year, they can be used from Oct 1, 2014 until Sept 30, 2015.

Wait, if you have to bank by October 31st that means you have a March UY. Is that right? So the March UY runs from March 1 through February 28 (or 29 in leap years). So if you bank your 2014 points into your 2015 UY. The points would expire 02/29/2016.

So the points would expire 2/29/2016 even for the person I transferred them to?
