I am new member. Please help with the following question.

Aug. use year (200 points owned by the member)

no plans to use points for use year 8/04-8/05, so I bank them all.
During 8/05-8/06, I request a reservation requiring 600 points for a stay in March of 07 thereby necessitating borrowing 200 points from my 8/06-8/07 use year. Since the actual stay would occur after 8/06, am I correct in reading the rules that DVC would not allow this? In essence, 200 of the needed 600 points would have already expired as of 8/06, since I did not use them during the next year following banking?

Yes, you are correct.

August04 Use Year points expire July 31, 05 or 7/31/06 if banked.

In this case, those points will have expired long before a March 07 trip and can't be used to make that reservation.

You can still bank your 05 points, use the 06 points and borrow the 07 points to have 600 points available for use for a March trip during the August 1, 2006- July 31, 2007 time period. Just plan to use the 200 points banked from this Use Year by July 31, 2006.

Sorry, I still don't understand. How could have those banked 200 points to get me to 600 points for a March stay when they expire before March? Your message indicates that I have to use them before 7/31/06, so I don't see how that would work. Seems to me I will never be able to book a vacation for more than 400 points? Thanks for your patience.

2004 - points good 08/01/04 to 07/31/05, 7/31/06 if banked
2005 - points good 08/01/05 to 07/31/06, 7/31/07 if banked
2006 - points good 08/01/06 to 07/31/07, 07/31/08 if banked
2007 - points good 08/01/07 to 07/31/08, 07/31/09 if banked

For a reservation in March 07, you could use the following:

current 2006 = 200
borrowed 2007 = 200
banked 2005 = 200

Total points available for 03/07 = 600

Points usage is based on the date of the stay, not the date of reservation. So you could make an 11 month home resort reservation with all these points in 04/06.
