I am new and completely in the dark about banking and when to do it. :confused3

Please help!

Here is some info. I have 320 points broken up into two equal contracts of 160. My use year is February. Didn't care when it was since my needs will change year to year for the one of our planned trips. so February was just as good ans any other month.

Since we cannot make it down there this year I was planning to rent / transfer the points to a good home.

My question is when would I have to bank these 320 2009 UY points so I don't lose them, if I have a February UY start month? I might keep them and go for a bigger room next year or more trips. Haven t decided yet and wanted to know my deadline!
Thanks for any help!

You have until September 30th to bank points with a February UY.

As an FYI for the future, if you log into your account online, look in the My Membership section. Click on Vacation Points.

We have Feb UY too, and I see (in red):

You may bank up to 100% of your Vacation Points for Member ID number ########### until the end of September 2009. Select the Bank Vacation Points link below to bank Vacation Points online or contact Member Services at this number or that number.

Very helpful, IMO! They also tell you when you could use points to book a cruise and when you could book resorts. :)

Remember that once you bank your points, you cannot "unbank" them. We also have a February UY and our first trips will not be until March and September 2010. Thus, we banked all of our 2009 UY points into our 2010 UY. However, by banking all of my points into my 2010 UY, I don't have any points if I wanted to do a trip between now and January 31, 2010***. I can't call Member Services and ask them to shift my 2009 points back into this year.

*** - If I really wanted to do a trip in this year, there is a way I could do it. I could borrow points from my 2010 UY and bring them into my 2009 UY. That is a topic for another post.

You might already know all of this, but since you said you were "in the dark", I just wanted to give you a heads up.

Good luck!

Thank you!
I did not know that you cannot unbank. I like the borrowing from the next year work around.
