Banking points

In the 12 years that we have owned DVC I have always had to borrow points and never had to bank. This year with our DCL cruise to Alaska we are only going once as opposed to our usual three times per year hence I have a lot of points to bank. I have a December use year so do I have until July 1 or July 31 to book points??

Also, I tried to book two nights for March 2020 and when I try to do online, it will only allow me to take points from my 2020 bank as opposed to from my remaining 155 points from this year. Am I doing something wrong or do I have to call? I have never had this occur before.

July 31st is the banking deadline. To book for March 2020 you would have to bank your remaining points from this year (which for a Dec UY is your 2018 points) first and then book trip.. A March 2020 trip will use 2019 points.

A Dec UY? March 2020 reservation falls in the Dec 2019 UY. Is that what you meant? That you couldn't use remaining 2018 points?

Either way you always have to tell the system to bank the points, it won't do it automatically. Thank goodness. You can do it while you're making the reservation. Towards the bottom of the page where you choose to continue from the screen where you select the contracts you'll see a button asking if you want to Bank points and use them. When you click on that it takes you to a screen to bank and then will bring you back to the booking. Or before making a reservation you can go to your contracts detail page and choose to bank from there.
