Banking points

I have 20 points (2014 use year) that I would like to bank for use next year in 2015. Once I bank I will have my usual 175 points (2015 use year) plus the 20 banked so 195 total. When I book my trip for 2015 my trip will only cost 165 points. Do I use my 2014 points first? Am I correct in thinking I will then have 30 points that I can use either in 2015 or bank for use in 2016?

The system is set up to use the banked points first, but I always verify it before completing the reservation.

Based on your figures you will have 30 points remaining for your 2015 UY that could be banked for use in 2016.
