I'm currently waiting for my sign up documents to arive so that I can be official! I'm a bit concerned about the 2005 points I am being given however.....
My "year" will be starting in December, so I know I have to bank my 2005 points by may or I will have to use them this year. The way the closing is going, I think I will miss the bank deadline before I even get the Dec 05 points! Any thoughts? I would like to use the 2005 points with the 2006 points to take 2 MEGA trips in 2007.

So my basic question.... When in May will I have to bank by?

Also, I'm buying into SSR. Will I have any problems landing a 1 bedroom for the first week in Jan?

Thanks!

P.S. It's peanut butter jelly time.

Hi

Are you buying through Disney or resale? If its through Disney and you have alreeady given deposit you can call now ( well whe MS opens monday am ) and bank them or you have untill Wednesday May 31st at 5pm to bank 100 %

If you are buying resale I'm not sure at what point you are so I don't know how long it would take to get inot Disney's system , but is there a way to ask the seller to bank them for you before May 31st?

Hope some of this helps Good Luck :thumbsup2

and WELCOME Home :cheer2:

Someone will correct me if I am wrong...but usually the deadlines are the last day of the month. So if you need to book 100% of your points in May, you are looking at May 31st.

You should have plenty of time to bank 'em/ :)

So if I bought 150 points now at VWL from Disney to add to our October contract, it wouldn't be possible to bank the whole 150 points from 2005 into the 2006 use year because we're already past the deadline for banking 100%?

I have the same question as the threadstarter, I guess.

Im sure someone will tell me if im wong  :teeth:
But I dont think you can do that, if you want a big trip you would have to bank 05 use 06 and borrow 07 for an 06 trip. Could be wrong :listen:

Awesome!!!! Thank you so much!!!!
Also, do you think I'll have a problem getting a ressie at my home resort of ssr in Jan if I book now?

I see exactly what she is doing, b/c that is our plan as well. For example, purchase 150 pts. now with a Dec UY. Get Dec. 05 pts as part of purchase and bank 100% by May 31st. On Dec. 1, 2006, get another 150 pts. Roll into 2007 with 300 pts. total to use. Not a problem.

No, banking just once. With a Dec UY we would have Dec. 05-Nov. 30th, 2006 to use those points. Right? Bank 100% by May 31st (the end of the 6 month window). Those points now need to be used in the Dec. 06 - Dec 07 UY. So, the poster is banking the points she would have gotten on 12/1/05 (getting them now though, as part of the new-member purchase promotion), getting another set of points on 12/1/06 and using both sets of points for her 2007 trips.

I think I have that right. :thumbsup2

Please someone correct me if I am wrong, b/c this is exactly our plan, as well.

No, you will not have a problem.

Hmm I thought you can only bank points once, it looks like your bank 05 twice?
You can't bank the same points more than once - you are correct..

However, with a December use year, it is easy to get mixed up between calendar year and use year. It appears to me that the posters are switching back and forth between use year and calendar year. They are talking use year when they refer to banking, but reverting back to calendar year when talking about the trip.

I'm sure that the 2007 trips are actually going to occur between 1/1/2007 and 11/30/2007. Those 2007 date fall within the December 2006 use year. So they are actually using 2006 use year points for the trip. For that trip they can also use points banked from 2005 and if needed, borrow points from their 2007 use year (12/1/2007 - 11/30/2008).

Best wishes -

As mentioned, the difference is that for a December use year, most of CALENDAR year 2007 is in the user's 2006 Use Year. That may be what's confusing. A trip anytime in Jan-Nov 2007 requires 2006 use year points, thus they can be banked 2005 points, current 2006 points, and borrowed 2007 points.

I think the confusion was that the OP was referring to calendar year 2007, not use year 2007.

Not necessarily. If you are already a member, and you add-on with the same use year, then all points are considered when banking. So if you already have a 150 point contract and have used those points (or don't intend to bank any of them), then a new 150 point contract would be bankable in the 50% window, since 150 of 300 is 50%.
Likewise, if you had a 450 point contract with all points used (and not banked), then a new 150 point contract would be bankable in the 25% window.
If any current contracts already have banked points, that would have an effect on the amount that could be banked.

Thanks! It makes more sense now. I love the flexibility of the points but it sure can get confusing for a new person (just got our first contract a month ago and yes, we're adding on already. :) )

Back to the originial question, when you buy new from Disney they now waive the banking deadlines for you. I recently added on with our Aug. UY and was able to bank all the 2005 points, no problem. HTH!
