Hi everyone! I have an August use year. We banked some of our points this past March. Next month will make 7 months away from January and I am hoping to book a little trip then...but since I banked, do I have to wait to book until my new use year begins on August 1?

Thanks for your help!!

Banking has nothing to do with when you can call to make a reservation.

If you banked your August 2007 points, they are now good for trips that happen between 8/1/2008 and 7/31/2009. You can call to make a reservation at your home resort 11 months prior to your planned check out date and 7 months prior to your check out date if you are staying at a non-home resort. The points you banked have to be used before 7/31/2009 or they expire. You can't bank those same points again, and you can't borrow them back into your 2007 use year.

If the trip you want to take will happen befroe August 1, 2008, you would have to borrow some of your 2008 use year points to make the reservation.

If I didn't answer your question or confused you, post again with more info.

All points use is based on date of stay. Date of reservation does not matter. You look at the use year that the date of stay is in and what points are available for that use year. Points are in your account for all use years, there is no wait for them to "deposit".

Newbie question - what if you rent points via transfer from another DVC member, when they are transfered to you, do they maintain their use year? or do they adopt your use year?
Thanks,
Mike

Transferred vacation points retain the Use Year and Home Resort Priority of the Membership they were transferred from.
