Just a thread for us band geeks to chat about contest and regionals and all that good stuff. :bounce: :Pinkbounc

o my god, me and my friends say the exact same thing! I play first clarinet. I dont know if were going to the large group festival in our state this year, it depends on how well we get the songs, but were pretty good. We also play some pretty good songs this year, theme from spiderman, theme from men in black, beach boys tribute(yuck) and some really famous piece called, Academic festival ovature, i've never heard of it though:D

We have pretty cool songs this year. I play trombone but you probably got that from my signature. Yeah lol woo go us!

Well, i'm not in band, but i was in colorguard for two years with the marching band, does that count?? We had all the competitions and stuff!! So now, i'm friends will all the bando's and they're just the coolest people ever!! (I'm not too fond of the super preppy or super jock groups)

haha bandees are awesome! Everyone is so jelous because all the band geeks come into class talking about how much fun we have! ROCK ON!

PrincessAuroa- I'm in colorguard too!!! I'm on the flag sqaud (flaggets rule! lol) how many people do u have on guard? we have 70-sumthing in total, 28 on flags, 20 on rifles, and 15or so on DanzLine (or Marinettes, after our mascot, the Mariners)

our field show this year is Grease! its so great! and we get to wear JEANS! i was so happy! but we look so much like 50s girls!
wuts everyone elses's field show? oh and our first competition is oct 18 in wayne hills, nj (i think.. its the NJMEA comp)

and also, Band geeks rule! all my friends are either in guard or in band! we are so a clique.. lol

I'm a band geek! I'm a junior and I play the clarinet. Our band is pretty good...we get better every year, and we're about at the level where we can hold our own against some of the best bands in the state. Our show this year is pretty cool, it's all David Holsinger music..."Sinfonia Voci," "On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss" and "Abram's Pursuit."

Band geeks are the coolest...my non-band friends make fun of me, but I love it and I've made some really good friends, so whatever. Also, the only guys I like anymore are band geeks...most of them are so much smarter and funnier than the other guys I know.:D

I'm a band nerd too!! I'm the co-captian of the Dazzlers (our flag/dance line). I also play trumpet. This year we are playing I can see for Miles, Everybody's Everything, Echano, and Dont let the sun go down on me. We are going to change it soon, cause we are a couple of peoples homecoming. (which is crazy cause we have won every game really big, and last year we went to the final game!) We are switching the first with Children of Santze *sp??* and the last with Bridge of troubled water. The other capt. and I get to make up the routines, we are excited!! :jester: :jester:

Hey there Lauren! nice s/n lol loser. We have contest today! Woo hoo and only 3 class B bands for some odd reason there today. So we'll get 2nd or 1st lol most likley 2nd since Jasper will probably be there and they always win! grrrr

I play the flute at our small christian school. We only have 17 kids in our band this year. We still do parades, concerts, and solo and ensamble. We combine with the 8th grade for parades. I like having a little band sometimes, but sometimes its awful, like when you aren't as good a player as other people and they are absent. O well we have fun. The best parade is at the end of the year. We march at Cedar Point for like 15 minutes, then change and go on rides the rest of the day!!!!!!!!!

*****Dorkforadrummer------- lol Brian Fellows is the greatest skit on SNL. It cracks me up every time!!!!!!!!!

aw I would hate to be in a really small band although our band has about 60 somthing people in it which isn't too small but it is even though we're class B. Have fun at Cedar Point!

I know Brian Fellows is so great

Wow, that's a lot of people for a guard!! At our school, hardly anyone knows what a guard even is!! When i started freshman year there were only 13 people TOTAL!! and only a few switched between flag & Rifle... the next year we had about 20 total and now i have no idea!! as i said, i haven't been in it for 2 years!! I miss it tons, but i just don't have the time to do it :( The thing is, once we got the nazi guard leaders out of the way and we had the guard people who CARED about the show, they got tons better! They had more people, better uniforms, better work... everything!! and wouldn't you know it, that all happened the year after i left!! Right now they have, i'm guessing, about 25-30 people, and this year they have flags, rifles and awesome saber work!

My Freshman year our theme had something to do with water... thus our uniforms were that tight velvety material - some had light blue, some had dark... and that was basically a tank top and leggings, then we had a "skirt" which was just two pieces of chiffon in front and in back... We had "Magical Poles" aka 10 foot 2" PVC pipes spray painted silver with holes cut in them, and then we stuffed blue chain flags in the hole (Chain Flags Rule!!) In the show we carried the giant poles around and did random stuff with them and then we set the pole on the ground and pulled the flags out of the hole and did cool stuff incorporating the pole & the flag... He He, good times

My Sophmore year our theme was "seasons" we had these HIDEOUS one piece pure white uniforms - it was like a tank top and then the legs flared out and we had these UGLY irredescent jackets to go over it... blah... that year we had a HORRIBLE instuctor who changed the work every week - i got sick for a week and missed a couple practices, i ended up having to do just the 1st song, then sit on the front sidelines for the rest of the show, then go out and do the last 12 counts of the closing song... It was very frustrating... and that show just sucked all together.

I didn't get the chance to see them last year, i worked every night they had practices and competitons... BUt they had really cool uniforms! They had the tight black leggings and a black long sleeved shirt... over those was a tight grey one'sleeved shirt that went down below the waist - it was awesome :) They had props called "Thing-a-ma-Jigs" which were basically shiny silver "X"es

This year the theme has to do with mexican music... i only had the chance to see them at band camp... and it was pretty good - apparently they have the flags, rifles, SABERS and they have capes (similar to chain flags)...

Yeah, those were the days, right?? My sophmore year our marching band got to go down and play at DISNEY during spring break!! It was SOOO much fun, we got to go "behind the scences" at Magic Kingdom (that's where our parade was) at MGM (guard had a workshop behind the Fantasmic mountain with a professional Disney coreographer) and Epcot (The band had a workshop there - underneath the loop that Test Track goes on)

SO yeah!! i don't quite know what else to say!! Guard Rocks!!

I am in the marching band. I am part of the flags. I also spin sabre. I am the tri captian this year. and we have 15 people in out guard out of a 112 person band. I am exicted this year. We have a really good show. If you have ever seen the move "*******" the opening scene is our show. It is amazing.

Our show writer is Todd Marcocci He has runs 2 color guard camps in the summer. One is at Westchester Unv. In penn state. He also writes alot of parades, firework shows, marching band shows and guard work with his company "Under The Sun Productions"

I live for band too. I had to get up at 6 this morning to help with a fundraiser and have marching band to learn the rest of our show cause we have our show next saturday. We compeate in TOB for marching band and KIDA for indoor.

yeah our trip was last year was to DisneyWorld... it was the BEST trip ever. We marched down Main Street b4 the Share a Dream Come True parade, performed our indoor guard rountines on the *TINY* stage in Downtown Disney, and did the MGM dance workshop. Band did the workshop in Epcot. We were there for 5 days and had only one thing a day. it was great!

This year's trip is to Williamsburg, Virgina. We get to da a parade somewhere (not sure where) go to the colonial part, Busch Gardens, and Kings Dominion. I cant wait!

wow Laura, that is a huge guard!

Our band has a total of about 140 people, and 30-40 of them are guard I think.

We get to go to WDW next year during Spring Break...my senior year, yay! But I desperately want to go this year, because it's not gonna be as fun next year without the class of 04...I like them so much better than my class.:(

Our show this year is awesome, and we're getting the highest scores we've ever gotten, but our favorite show is from 2 years ago...it was Jekyll & Hyde based on the broadway musical. The music was amazing, and we had a lot of dramatic stuff going on...one guy actually got to wear a cape and a hat and run around being "evil," lol. It was so great!

lol a guy running around in a cape being evil! that must have been great!

for our show this year, one of the guys on our guard ( we have like 10 ) is dressing up in a poodle skirt n bright pink wig for Beauty School Dropout... It is SO hilarious to see him in a pink wig! i hope we get extra points for creativity!

and Disney is option for next year's trip! because it's my band directors last year (his kids are gratuating, and he has been the director for 30 yrs) he liked the trip so much last year that we will prolly go back! YES!

Laura tell me where and when the parade is in williamsburg and i will try and get down there. I only live three hours away so it isnt that bad of a day trip.

Our band know that we are going to florida but we dont know if e are going to disney because the orch. whats to go ther and the chorus wants to go there. And if he doesnt go to disney with the band then he will have to take another spring trip with the orch. So the chances of us going there a very good.

We have our first show on saturday at our school. I am exicted. I hope that this will be a good year but with the way it has started out it isnt looking like it at all! I hope that your bands are doing better then mine. We just fisned seting all of the movements on the field and now he is drilling one movement at a time. So i will be ready soon i hope.

Our costumes this year are like a black tunic thing and then black velvet sturp pants that are spandex... (the were in when I was in kindergarden) And the boy in the guard has a spratin helmet that he wears at the begining anfd the end of the show.

:rotfl: i am in the band!:) I love it! I play the flute. I am in two bands.

:yo-yo: Rachel :yo-yo:
