If you had a choice would you do this excursion at 2 or last trip at 4 before having to board at 4:45?

Earlier. That way if you are tired you aren’t forced to wait around for it.

Truthfully to get a good spot on Castaway, you need to get off the ship pretty early in the morning which can make for a long day if you’re planning to stay until all aboard time.

This. We did it around 2 and turned in afterwards.

Yes, I would recommend earlier too. I also find that since our CC day is always the last day of our cruise, I like to go back to the ship to finalize packing as it starts to hang over my head in the afternoon.
