However they do not wrist band guests at their beach area. All resorts limit the use of their pools to that resort's guests. All resorts allow anyone to use their beaches.

All this angst over something that is an issue maybe 5 nights of the year.:sad2:

The pool area at the Poly doubles as the beach area for a good chunk of the sand though, that's the difference.

And it's more than 5 nights a year. Pop over to the Poly thread and ask Carl about what happens when you rent the premium cabana, which IS roped off, and is paid for at an excess premium, in the evening in the off season.

Renting a cabana is a different thing though then just hanging out on the beach. That is something that each guest pays for, no one pays just to stand or sit on the beach.

I simply don't see the beach being crowded as an issue other than a few nights of the year. Certainly not most nights, or even half of the nights. People just won't make the effort to go there for the reason of watching the fireworks. Much easier to watch them elsewhere.

I have this mental picture of barbed wire between the resort and beach areas, and some guy looking like an SS Officer walking around asking "May I see your papers."

Those of you wanting to rope off the beach should include the Grand Floridian too then. You can see a lot from their beach too.

I love the gusto with which those on here who can always afford the best want to keep it all for themselves.

WDW is not a democracy. You pay and you get. Do you want to let anyone into the MK without a ticket just because they want to get in?

A person doesn't need a ticket or really anything to get on the Disney resort beaches. Disney doesn't care and that's really all that matters.

Disney not going to stop this as people come and spend a lot just to see wishes and maybe eat and drink. we loce the Poly but wegave up and tried the moderates and liked them all but then went to POP and love it over there. people all so friendly and best bus service on any resort property.we go to wishes and then sit around an relax until crowd dies down and then walk right on a bus and to resort

There is nothing in the WDW rules that says only resort guests have a right to be on the beach.

If we are going to go by the WDW letter of the law on Tipping, then the fact that WDW allows non-resort guests access to the resort beaches should be the final word.

I think having an open policy is fine until that policy does infringe upon the enjoyment of the amenities by those that paid for them. And yes those guests have paid for the view, which is one reason rooms are so high.

Payment could even be in the form of a meal.

But as someone said, it is Disney's place to make a policy and enforce it. Until then we will stay elsewhere where it is not an issue.

As to our chairs by the time we could have found security the fireworks would have been over. We did let the Front Desk know and they were oh so sorry, but their solution was to tell us to go to the pool and get two from there. :sad2:

Of course. But the premise of this thread was to request to ban non-Polynesian guests from the beach area during fireworks. Nothing wrong there. But there have also been reports from some guests in the past of Disney Security asking to see KTTW for some of the busier times.

I thought they had proved that false quite recently. Reports were going out that they would limit beach access during the 4th of July, and then nothing happened.

I find this debate interesting because a related issue was a factor in my decision making for which "deluxe" to book. I was unaware that the beach can get crowded. But I had read about the Poly pool being packed with non-resort guests, which prompted me to choose YC for our vacation this year where they control access to SAB.

During our trip we'll be dining at Ohana and plan to watch Wishes from the Poly beach afterwards. I promise I won't steal anybody's patio chairs -- how rude! (And I would never, ever pool hop...that anyone has the sense of self-entitlement to do that boggles my mind).

And unless you go July 3,4th or December 30,31 you will be shocked to find that the Poly beach will not at all be crowded. They control access (not by fence) to the Poly pool also. They do not control access to the beach either at the Poly or at the Yacht and Beach.

When someone reports it happened to them, that's not a false post.

No it wasn't. Just to clarify, it was to limit certain areas and certain items (chairs, lounges, hammocks, benches, etc.) to resort guests. And when someone starts taking patio furniture, that's a problem.

Ok perhaps a little extreme, but I really feel that Resort Guests should get some sort of preference to watch Wishes. Why should the chairs, lounges, hammocks, etc. be used by non-resort guests? Let non-resort guests watch from a less preferred area. Am I wrong?

Curious what others think

By the way the original post is worded along with the title it appears the thread is to ban non-resort guests from the Poly for Wishes.

This is a fascinating topic! Yes, I know, it has been done a hundred times (or at least 10), but this one seems different. I feel in this thread, there are more folks saying they don't necessarily think it's such a bad idea, and even agreeing with the thought of some kind of restricted access. At least that's the impression I got from the first page, then the debate got really going. This thread has also not gotten as heated as some I have read, and that is nice to see. I like when folks can state their opinion without jamming same down the throats of others. We can all agree to disagree if necessary.

Throwing my two cents in, having stayed at Poly the past 4 years in a row, we do find crowds to be VERY large during the fireworks. We typically travel from August to September, with a late Nov thrown in for kicks. That said, it is very frustrating, as a guest of that resort, to find hundreds (yes, hundreds) of folks scattered all over the lawn, beach and walkways. Folks take chairs from the pool area and place them right on the walkways to watch the fireworks, and there are literally no lounge chairs on the beach to be had. It is very frustrating.

For that person (sorry not to mention by name) who said something to the effect of why don't people just go to the park and watch the fireworks, I don't know! That does not make sense to me.

Sometimes we do stay at the park to watch. There are days that we have done something else that day, and like to come back to the resort, relax on the beach, and watch the fireworks. Unfortunately, it is sometimes very difficult to do so, due to those that want to watch from somewhere other than the park, and choose a resort where they are not staying to watch.

This year we are staying at CSR for the first time. That said, we will not go to Poly to watch the fireworks from the beach. It would not occur to me to do that. That is not the resort where we are staying. If I want to watch the fireworks, we will do so from the park.

In summary, I guess I do have a problem, when I am staying at Poly, with the beach/pool/walkways/lawns being packed with folks and not being able to find a place to watch for my family and myself. And for the record, it is not just 4 or 5 days a year. As I said, we typically travel in September or August, and those 4 or 5 days mentioned do not fall into those months. And the crowds are there frequently.

Maybe a "crowd" means different things to different people. :goodvibes

Yes it was. Truthfully, I'm thinking that's what the op would like to see, considering he posted over on one of the Poly threads that one of the things he liked about the Poly is that it has "fewer trashy people" who stay there.

And I'm staying at the GF in 2 weeks. I'm hoping for even a better class of people there. Nobody better block my view of Wishes!!

Truthfullly (as you state), in my honest opinion (although I was told by you that I can't have one), am I being stalked here on Disboards?
