I'm going to be in Baltimore this Monday, just for a day. Arriving at BWI around 11, staying in Hanover just south of the airport but we will be going into downtown Baltimore for the day...to head to the Inner Harbor to shop(Gallery?) and probably have dinner there or somewhere nearby. . My mom and my teen daughter will be along also, any sugguestions for late lunch/early dinner? I don't think we will have a car, so somewhere nearby the harbor might be nice.

Hi, Harborplace has two buildings--both have many resteraunts. There's a great seafood buffet--Phillips. Phillips, I think also has a sitdown in the same area. There are so many choices. Near the National Aquarium, there is ESPN Zone and several other restuarants at the Power plant. There are many good resteruarants in Little Italy/Fells Point--check out the restuarant section in www.baltimoresun.com.

Have fun.

The Cheesecake Factory is always yummy...it's located in Harbor Place (right on the water, in between the Aquarium and the Science Center). Phillips Restaurant is delicious if you want to try a Crab Cake (my personal fave) :) It's also located at Harbor Place!

LOL, Belle, I must have written my reply at the same time as you!! I think the general concensus is Phillips :)

In the Pratt and Light street pavillions, you have:

Phillips sit down
Phillips buffet, which is pricey but AYCE (IMHO, worth every penny)
Hooters
Cheesecake Factory
Pizzeria Uno

There was also a great BBQ place, Wayne's, I think, There are several other restaurants and also a lot of food stands on the second floor of Pratt Street Pavillion. If I don't have time for a sit down meal, I usually end up getting greek food. My opinion on the others is that I can get most of the chains anytime, but Phillips is yummy.

In the Power Plant, there's a Hard Rock and an ESPN Zone. There's also the Rusty Scupper over by the MD Science Center.

Nowadays, I'm in Baltimore one or two times a month, but I have dental work done a few blocks from Lexington Market, so I go there for some great food.

I've never made it to Fell's Point or Little Italy, and I've got friends who tell me that I'm missing some great places. Oh well, pass me another crab leg, willya?

Its been a while since I went downtown to eat. My in-laws live up near Towson. I am a UMBC grad. so NC Beast used to take me sometimes to the harbor for dates.

I highly recommend Philips sit down restaurant. We loved the place. They have the best crab cakes in the world.

We also had a very nice meal at the Cheesecake Factory.

I grew up in Baltimore. When I saw this thread, my first thought was Phillips.

Just got back from a visit to Baltimore's Inner Harbour last Saturday (4/10/04). We choose to eat at Phillip's Seafood Buffet for lunch. I must say it was excellent!

The buffet featured snow & regular crab legs, steamed clams and mussels, baked fish, stuffed grouper, crayfish, mini-crabcakes and some other seafood items. Then they had broiled and fried fish, steak, New England style clam chowder (very good) and another soup. Then the kid's favorites of hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken fingers, mac & cheese and spaghetti. Plus a salad bar and a dessert bar (the blueberry clobber was excellent. I added a scoop of ice cream which melted over the hot dessert!).

For the four of us (plus sodas and a beer), it came to $120 with tip included. I ate more than my share and so did my family! :teeth: Well worth the money, IMO, too! ::yes::
