Baltimore BOT-Fest

It won't let you click on anything yet....just keep checking back @ nyrr.org. The registration is supposed to open up tomorrow @ noon.

OK, I'll be patient but I wanted to register before I got flogged. :scared:

Dave, that is extremely cool! I have an AP but it's still cool. (Too bad we can't use our medals as a FP. But I guess I'm pushing my luck here.) :upsidedow

IS THIS A LOTTERY TOO??? WHEN DO THEY PROCESS AND NOTIFY?? :sad2: I thought this was a sure thing.

Oh no. Is it really? I can't stand it! Ugh.

I know, I know. I HATE the lottery crap, too. I have to say, though, that I've gotten in every year so far (2 years there was no lottery :confused3). This is a great race guys. We'll all get in, don't worry 'bout it :rolleyes1.

Can't believe I'm going to see some BOTS on the 27th in Fairfield. I hear the course is hilly .

Good Morning Bots.

Jodi: I have heard that Fairfield is a hilly course too. I'm still trying to figure out what my plan for spectating is. My SIL and a friend are running the 5K, so I'd really like to cheer her on. I know about 6 or 7 people running the 1/2 including you, Howard and Charlie, so I need to be in a good spot for that too. Time to check out Google Maps. Are you still planning the marathon in Wakefield on July 30th? I have no intentions of running, but if I can, I'll come cheer you on for that. That would be easy, I can park myself in one spot and see you 6 times or so.

Howard: Good luck with the lottery. I'm psyched that you are running in Fairfield. Good job on your race in Spring Lake. Sounds like some good after race food.

Judy: Good luck to you too with the lottery. Will you be running in Fairfield?

Dave: Great job on running 5 days. Nothing to sneeze at.

Jen: Great Zombie costumes. Glad you had fun.

Colleen: Hope you are enjoying your summer.

Sara: Hope the recovery continues to go well.

All other Bots: Hope all things are well.

I have run 3 days in a row this week. That's something new for me. Just easy 4 to 5 miles, but I'm slowly trying to build up to 5 x a week. I need to start working on my 5K speed, since that's the only race I have on my calendar. (July 4th, Palmyra, VA)

Have a great day everyone.
Cindy

Cindy: Yes I am. Ohhh I'm so glad you're going to be there too! This is turning into quite the little Bot meet! :thumbsup2

CindyLouPoo - I am, indeed, all signed up for that loopy marathon in Wakefield, MA. I guess the lake is right in front of the host hotel, where I also got a room for the night. It'd be great if you could come laugh at...I mean, cheer me on. Looking forward to seeing you on the 27th! MinnieBOT MEET!! Beer on the beach afterward?? popcorn::

All about me as I tell you all that I'm completely unprepared for Sunday's 1/2 AND it's going to rain!! :thumbsup2 :yay: (insert smilie giving the finger - you know, that's going to be my new line of business....making new smilies for the DisBoards!!). I ran 4 miles this morning, though, & am happy to report I am pretty much pain-free. Gotta love those little needles!

Jodi - Glad to hear the hippie Hellraiser got you all set up. Good luck on your race. Is Bruce running?

Hey to everyone else.:wave2:

Jodi - A big hearty congrats on your smashing PR at the Tin Donkey or whatever. Another testament to your less-is-more training technique.

BTW, where did you get your frog feet? Do running stores sell those funky things?

Thanks, it was a good day.

As for the frog feet, this is what I would do. Go on their website, www.vibramfivefingers.com. Find a place near you that actually carries them & try them on. Try on the KSO model. The model I recommend you buy is the new Bikila. This is what I ran in yesterday. They have a beefier bottom & were designed specifically for running, although you can run in the KSOs. Those were the first ones I got.
They have a measuring system on the website for getting the right size, but I ended up bumping up a size from the original ones I bought, that's why trying them on is kinda key.
Most likely your local store won't have the Bikila model 'cause they're pretty tough to find. Just get the sizing right on the KSOs & I can give you a few places where you should be able to order the Bikilas online. What size running shoe do you take?

I am currently heavily debating doing the Fairfield half at the end of the month. Has anyone done this race before? Do I have to be at packet pick-up the day before or would one of you be willing to get my stuff for me? Where is a good place to stay? Generally I'm looking for info and someone to talk me into doing the race. The hitch on my end is I need to find someone to switch call with me but can get a race entry if I decide in the next 1-2 days. Help me decide yes or no to this thing....

Jenn~ I have never run this race, it looks as if there are some hills ( :headache: ) but I can deal with that. Right now, I am trying to get over some intermittent knee discomfort. I am going to take it easy for a few days (if needed) to see if it goes away. If you can get into the race, I think it'll be a good event (weather permitting). There will be several of us there. Not sure about the packet pick up information -- haven't checked into that yet. I assume you can pick it up the morning of the race. I hope it works out! A WISH meet in Connecticut sounds like fun, especially some post-race brews on the beach with good friends.

Jenn - I thought Fairfield was closed. I hope you have some way to get in. Charlie does this Half every year and every year he complains it's a tough one. So I'm not sure what to tell you. I'm doing the 5K which is amazingly totally flat.

Wait, WHAT? :scared1:

Jen - I'd love to see you @ this race. The website has different hotels that you can stay at. I can tell you that it'll probably be pretty expensive, typical of Fairfield County....ME? I wouldn't travel for a "tough one" :rotfl2:.

I was totally ready to goto Fairfield but couldn't get anyone to cover me for the 4 hours I would need on Sunday morning (is 6am to 10am really too much to ask?). I really wish I could go, run, and hang with all the cool kids up there:sad1:

I suppose training for DL will have to do.

:sad1: WHAT? That SO sucks!!!! I can't believe that! Don't you work in a hospital? Aren't there like, thousands of doctors roaming around? Would they really miss you for a few hours? ;) Just tell them you were in the bathroom with your new Runner's World mag & lost track of time. :rolleyes1

So, Jodi, is that what you do all day and get paid for it?? :snooty:

Jenn, that stinks. Can't you call in sick or something? Grrrrr.

Thanks for the sympathy. I work in a private office so there is more personal accountability for weekends on call. I have no idea what would happen if I tried to call in sick-- it just "isn't done." Plus everyone I asked to trade with supposedly can't work either so I don't know what would happen. One of the partners will actually be at the race running with his daughter so he obviously can't help me out. I did instruct him to cheer for anyone in a WISH shirt for me.

I was really grouchy and bummed about it for a few days now I guess I'm just resigned to working. I think I need to have a lower work ethic.:lmao: I'll be thinking of you guys.
