Baltimore BOT-Fest

Jodi - I didn't mean to scare you away from the race! Remember, I'm still a newbie at this racing thing. Colchester is really a pretty old farm town. My BFF still lives in town. My mom moved out after I graduate from high school, but I still make it back there every few years.

Dave - Any new blogs coming soon? Snagged some seats for a Broadway show in March yet? We're gonna run this thing together, right?

Not sure what the year holds in store for me. Was seriously considering that 50 miler, but have no intention of doing 30 mile training runs :rotfl2:. That being said, I don't want to hurt myself & leave the rest of the year a no-go. Was flirting with the idea of trying to break a 4-hour marathon, but that requires, again, that ugly T word!!
Hey Jodi, I have a blog that should be put up soon on my interview with John "The Penguin" Bingham. I couldn't believe what a nice guy he was, and I really enjoyed my conversation with him.

Yeah, I'm down with running NYC together with you. I still need to talk to Dana about the trip. We've had a lot going on lately. I haven't looked into seats to a Broadway show. I'm still hoping we can get into Mary Poppins.

I'm thinking about my spring plans too. I was planning on doing the Pittsburgh Marathon, but now I think I may do the Muddy Buddy (the week after Pittsburgh). I'm seriously considering doing it as a fundraiser for GKTW again.

Hi everyone- newbie to the board here (although I've been running about 7 years now). Is this the right place to post daily stuff? if so since WDW Half I've been adding a lap a week to my running- going 2 miles 5 days a week inside around a 11 lap to mile track. Today I'll lift and then do 2 miles at run 2 walk 1. MOnday I'll up it to 3 run 1 walk for 3 miles. If this isn't the right place to post daily runs, please tell me where that is.

Mike: Running on muddy trails does sound tempting, but I'm planning on doing my long run on Sunday this weekend. Cindy has a long list of chores for me to do on Saturday, #1 being getting her car inspected (which I was supposed to do in Dec). Are you going to sign up for the BRR? Registration is on the 25th. I'm probably not going to do it, but I do want to run a trial ultra, but a 50K first.

I need to pick up some new running shoes this weekend so maybe I'll pick up some trail shoes also.

Howard Glad to hear that the knee problem isn't too serious.

Jodi Adopt any new dogs lately? Tell Spencer I say hi. Is he planning on running any of these upcoming races with you?

Cindylou It was fun seeing you at the goofy. Have you started training for Boston yet? Are you going to do your same 3 day a week training plan or mix up it a bit? As for me, I think I'm going to try and focus on just running consistently. I end up sleeping in instead of running way too much lately.

Lou Baltimore is a fun race, but a crazy hard course. If you don't go in expecting to PR you will have a good time. You should do Baltimore, MCM and Philly. Go crazy!

Bookworm Sure you can post here. If you post too much, though, we might convince you to run the Marine Corp Marathon with us this fall. You also have to watch out for Jodi. She is all mean and snarly on the outside, but on the inside... well she is all mean and snarly too :goodvibes .... just kidding.

Holy carp! How did I get so behind on the thread already? This will have to be an all about me post and I'll try to catch up this weekend. No running for me since my miserable 5 miler last weekend. My knee still doesn't feel quite right, but I'll probably try to run this weekend anyway:rolleyes:

Matt and I, with our advanced medical degrees from Google University, have diagnosed me with patellar tendonitis. All kidding aside, all symptoms - including the way the pain starts and where it is, etc. - fit with patellar tendonitis.

Happy Friday, freaks! :grouphug:

Dr. Cindy - I know a guy up here that can stick a needle right in that tendon & relieve your pain. Maybe go for a quick 3 miler this weekend & see what happens.

Nurse Matt - Spencer says hi right back @ you (and to Cindy) & is thinking about doing another 1/2 in the fall. I'm thinking maybe he should do that Broad Street run...10 miles, right? And don't be spreading rumors to BookSlug about me. BS, I welcome you here with open arms! :rolleyes1.

Howard - 4 weeks off for a slacker like YOU seems about right. I, on the other hand, ran 4 yesterday & 3.5 hill/speed the day before!:snooty: Hmph!

Mike - You are correct, I could be a witch in either location...but it'd only be for one day. YOU on the other hand, will be a d-bag for a whopping 365!

Megan - I'll probably still run Colchester, I just don't like hills because they require some effort ;). I'll wave to your high school for you.

Hi deekaypee - You were actually in my original post, but Mike PMd me & told me not to acknowledge you at all :confused3.

Jen - The house must be all abuzz with the impending arrival of Pixar...wonder how Muppet will react? popcorn:: Thanks for the couch offer, but you may want to contact Colleen b4 you offer that up. After that weekend in NYC she may have some words that would produce hesitation. :scared1:

Hi to all the other, non-posting BOTS! I'll try to get a longish run in tomorrow...doubt it will happen, but we can always give it a try, right?

Howard - Good to hear you had some positive news at the doctor's. Caesar Rodney Allen Rippey is a rough course but I know you know about it. Not to discourage you but you may want to consider that before signing up. Between the sharps turns in the city and the steep hills at the end that course was rough on my knees both times. Go easy if you run it.

Jodi - Yes, Broad St is the 10-miler. They had 25,000+ runners last year. It's by far the biggest Philly race. The Philly RnR 1/2 (formerly known as the PDR) was a good race but I am not sure what I'll do this year. I think they mad a bad move ditching the PDR brand and selling out to the national "RnR" series. However, if you haven't run it it is worth running once. If BOTs run I may consider running again.

Jen - I saw the Rutgers 1/2. I really hate that area of NJ and cannot see where they found 13.1 miles to actually run. I am eyeing up a 1/2 at Seaside Heights that seems like a better and more scenic race. Hey, maybe some of those MTV Jersey Shore people will be there.

Matt - Baltimore is always a possibility. I have family there so it's easy in terms of lodging. The hard course doesn't bother me. I knind of like challenging courses. That being said 50-mile runs do not interest me. I think 26.2 is enough for me.

Cindy - Don't feel bad about the thread I seemed to have fallen way behind too. Sorry about the with patellar tendonitis.

I totally missed this Colchester thing. Where in the world is Colchester.

INSANE work week. I had to have a phone surgically removed from my ear today. Have not run one mile all week due to insanity and a major chest cold.

Lou

Colchester is in eastern CT. About 25 minutes from Foxwoods and Mohegan. I grew up there.

Hey Bots: My interview with John Bingham was posted on the blog. You can listen to the audio too in the link below. It's onlt about a 10 minute interview, and we even talk a little about WISH.

http://www.disunplugged.com/2010/01/23/this-year-find-the-courage-to-start-at-a-disney-race/

I'm going to try for a longer run today, maybe 5 miles, not a long run, but long for me.

Bookwood- :welcome: It's always good to have another join us.

Cindy- I hope your knee feels better soon. Take it easy on it.

Good morning all!

It's the weekend! I love weekends! I haven't been home for a weekend in all January, so it is time to get some things done around the house.

Good to hear everyone getting back into the groove. I am biking a lot and starting to do more weights.

So who's thinking about the wine and dine half? I may be able to make that work, especially with it being a Saturday night. There is just something about walking around EPCOT at night, with you all that is somewhat appealing.:thumbsup2

Good morning everyone. I got 5 miles in this morning. Just trying to get back on track with my long runs. It was 20 degrees out for the start of my run. Maybe warmer than for the half marathon start 2 weeks ago.

So, is everyone bailing on MCM?? Sigh.

Thanks for all of the birthday wishes on FB earlier in the week. It was a nice day.

Howard – I’m glad to hear that the doctor’s report is favorable.

Sara – Happy Birthday!

Judy - It was nice to meet you at Biergarten, even if it was only for a second!

Mike – Did you get out on the trails? Sorry Matt couldn’t run with you, but he did get the car inspected already and as soon as I get my (likely to be very short) run in, we are headed to Costco. Oh and despite what he posted, Matt is still talking about running the BRR.

Jodi – I’m excited that now that Matt is chickenbuddy, I get my own line instead of being half of Mindy! Does Spencer actually know my name, or does he refer to me as “that drunk lady we rode rides with”?

Jen – Cat towers are great – get the kitten used to clawing that instead of your furniture!

Cam – Good luck at physical therepy!

Dave – Matt is playing your interview right now.

Colleen – Hi! Glad you get a weekend at home. I know the feeling – I was so happy to be able to get some organization around the condo last weekend.

Megan – I didn’t know you were from CT too. I’m from North Haven.

I know I’ve missed lots people, but, I caught up on all the posts I’ve missed and now I really need to get out there and run - I’m really cutting into our errand running time. I’ve been procrastinating all morning because I’m really nervous that it is really going to hurt.

Hi to everyone else (including lurkers!) :wave2:

Yup. I lived there from about age 1 to 19 (went to Saint Joseph College for a year) and then moved to your neck of the woods for college (GWU). Met a guy, ended up in Philly, started law school, broke up with said guy and haven't left the area yet. I found a great job that I love so I don't plan on leaving here any time soon.

Chester - How ya feelin', dude? Any post-Goofy runs yet? Keep your head up.:wizard:
Jodi
My first "Post Goofy" run was this morning. I did 5 miles with a break in the middle when I stopped to talk with a Soccer Dad from Miranda's old team. No problems with the run.

And, I got a 1 week reprieve on the lay-off. They need me to do presentation drawings for a Fire Station project that we were short listed on. One more pay check at least.

Chester: I hope things are going well and are not too stressful. Butch's dad lives right off the highway (?rt 70) behind a Goodwill bookstore and a Publix (can you tell I use landmarks more than actual directions?) Let us know if you will be in town or plan to run Gasparilla, maybe you guys could carpool to the start. (I'm even willing to subsidize a race bib for you so that I know Butch will have someone there to keep tabs on him-- not that I worry or anything) I admit I'm a bit jealous Butch gets to run this one without me, but there was no way to make it work for both of us.
Jen
Butch's dad lives within 10 miles of us.

I'm still planning on Mardi Gras. Just will be driving the 11-12 hours to get there instead of flying. But.... if plans change Gasparilla is on.

So who's thinking about the wine and dine half? I may be able to make that work, especially with it being a Saturday night. There is just something about walking around EPCOT at night, with you all that is somewhat appealing.:thumbsup2
Colleen
Planning on the Wine and Dine. Already have reservations for Fort Wilderness.

Happy running to all Bots everywhere,

Chester

Colleen- I'm definitely considering the Wine and Dine Half. It sounds like a lot of fun.

So this is where all the cool kids are hanging out!! :cool1::cool1:

Mind if I hang around and pick up some tips and inspiration from all of you pros! :)

Kathy (aka twizzler lady)

Hi Kathy! Hey everyone, Kathy's here!!:dance3:

Absolutely, stick around! ::yes::

Also wanted to add that I ran today for the first time since Disney, well more like walk, but I did shuffle a bit in there too!

Jodi,

Do you recall what Lou was wearing for NYC marathon? Can't tell from the back if this is Lou?!?:confused3
