Baltimore BOT-Fest

Yea, I hear they don't use cuss words at these events. :lmao:

Guess we're not goin' then. Wait, did I actually cuss in the one minute that we interacted in Disney? What was up with that, anyway??? Where did you disappear to after that picture?

Chester: Just wanted to let you know we are thinking of you and sending lots of  for things to work out. It looks like Butch will be down for Gasparilla, so if you can't get Mardi Gras to work out and will be in the area he'd love to get together for lunch or dinner or something. He will be staying with his dad in Bradenton so I think that is pretty close to you.

Jen
We happen to live in Bradenton. I'd be happy to get together with Butch. Where in Bradenton does his dad live?

I still don't know for sure if I'm doing Mardi Gras. I signed up at the WDW Expo, but I haven't received a confirmation yet or seen the charge show up on the credit card. I may end up running Gasparilla after all.

Happy trails,

Chester

Jodi: So which local races are you planning on doing? Maybe I can fit one of them in to my schedule too. That way I may even get to chat with you. Sorry I couldn't stay longer at the Biergarten.

Hey, there are LOTS of local (for us) New England 1/2 marathons & such in our area!!! Do you ever read the New Engalnd Runner magazine? There are tons of races (a 1/2 in NH around Lake Winapasaukee - or however you spell it - in April) that we could meet at!! Let's plan something soon! There's a 1/2 in Colchester CT on Feb. 27 that I plan on running...looking for someone to pace me :rolleyes1.

Just wanted to pop in to say good morning to everyone.

Sara- I didn't know your son was going to Oswego. I had a meeting there this summer, and it's only an hour from Rochester.

Good Morning Bots.

Jodi: I do read NE Runner. I've always wanted to do that 1/2 at Lake Winnepesaukee, but the date has never worked out. This year it's my son's 1st communion, so I couldn't do it this year. I'm thinking about doing the New Bedford (MA) 1/2 on March 21st. It really fits well with my training plan. New Bedford is kind of a hole, but it's supposed to be a good race. Let me know if you are interested. What pace are you hoping to run in Colchester? I'm not sure if I could make it, but will think about it. That will probably be it for me for races before April 19th. After that I'll be looking to schedule something. I think I will sign up for the 4th of July 10K at Gillette Stadium.

Sara: I don't think I'll be able to make MCM this year, but I will definitely look for you at the Boston Expo if you are there. Hope the painting is done.

Lou: Not sure what my plan is for Boston. I'll have to see how the training goes. Luckily my race from October qualifies me for next year's race as well, so that takes the pressure off of re-qualifying. I'd like to be able to run strong the entire way. Lots of hill training in my future.

Howard: Hope the Dr. appt goes well this morning.

Jen: Hope your cold is feeling better.

Hello to everyone else.

I got out for 3 easy miles yesterday, first run post-Goofy. It felt pretty good. Another run tomorrow I hope then back to full time training come Monday. Just hoping the weather cooperates. My stomach issues have come back to bother me. Hmm, on vacation they go away, back to real life and it's back. Could be on to something here.

Have a great day everyone.
Cindy

I grew up in Colchester, went to high school in Colchester, was on the track and field team in Colchester, yet, I never heard about the half marathon there until last year. And this half marathon has been going on since I lived in Colchester.

I however will not be going to run there. There are way too many hills for me.

$310 for the Goofy Registration!?!? :scared1: $310!!! Wow, I had no idea it had gone up that much.

There are way too many hills for me.

Wait, WHAT??. Well, with a registration fee of like, $15, I wouldn't think too many people have heard of it! :rotfl2:

Dave - $310 for Goofy?? Holy-pay-for-torture-Batman!

I been runnin' & stuff.

More later when I can respond to everyone appropriately - like I always do....popcorn::

Hello bots. Just a quick post, but thanks for all of the birthday wishes. I actually got up and ran this morning, even though I wanted to sleep in. I think my legs are fully recovered from the Goofy, so I guess that means I have to do a long run this weekend.

Jodi,

Check out the course profile for Colchester. The high school is actually down hill from the street (we had to run laps around the parking lot for our early spring training - ugh) and I believe from the race start you go down hill. I'm not trying to discourage you though. Colchester is a great town. Many of the streets have names indicative of the course: Halls Hill, Chestnut Hill, Goshen Hill, etc. Take a look at the the map here.

Good afternoon everyone! :surfweb: Thank you for all the good Doctor's appointment wishes. I think they helped. :)

The MRI showed some light colored areas on the bone(s) where they come into the knee, showing some stress, and slight thinning of the cartilage. He said that my running style must put stress on the knee in that area. There is no discernable tear in the meniscus.

Expects that the inflamation at the time of the MRI was due to running the marathon earlier in the week. He thinks that if I don't run on it for 4 to 5weeks, it'll get better. He believes it is mainly caused by over-use and my running style. He said cross-training (bike, elliptical, and swimming) is fine and he recommends that.

He said I should be fine for the Caesar Rodney Half in March, but that I shouldn't wait the 4 to 5 weeks, and then train really (really) hard to get ready for the race. He said to train for a relaxed race and not to try to get a PR this time around. He also gave me another script for the anti-inflammaroties and said to take them as needed until further notice. He wants to see me in a month for a follow up. I am signing up for the Caesar Rodney Half Marathon tonight. This will be my second time running it. I completed my first a couple of years ago in 1:59:37.

I am really relieved that this is not catastrophic and that he feels that it will heal over time. The thought of physical therapy was not what I call fun.

So, I am good to go for now... but need to wait at least 4 weeks to do any running.

FYI~ Cam's Aunt used to live in Colchester! We used to visit her there once or twice a year, she's since moved to the Plymouth, MA area. Colchester is a cute little town. I agree that it does have some hills there.

Enjoy your Thursday afternoon!

Dave - Lol! People would go to Colchester for the deli that I used to work at. It was a full service deli run by a father and 2 sons. It always has great prices!

Looking at the map, the course doesn't go past the center of town and the gazebo. That would make it more worthwhile for me. I would have free houseing, etc, but I would not be ready for that course unless I spend everyday training in Valley Forge.

Hello bots. Just a quick post, but thanks for all of the birthday wishes. I actually got up and ran this morning, even though I wanted to sleep in. I think my legs are fully recovered from the Goofy, so I guess that means I have to do a long run this weekend.

Matt - Do you feel like coming out here and doing your LR on some of the BRR trails on Saturday? It may be a sloppy mess but I got some new trail shoes in the mail today that I'm itchin' to get all dirtied up.

Howard - Good news about the knee. Now just go easy and listen to your doctor.

How is Cam's knee doing?

Jodi - You're not afraid of a few stinking hills are you?

OK, let's see if we can't do this right...deep breath....here we go:

Megan - OK, I think you've done your part in talking me out of Colchester ;):lmao:

Chester - How ya feelin', dude? Any post-Goofy runs yet? Keep your head up.:wizard:

Sara - I'm sure we'll hear from you before your surgery, yeah? Is staying @ home driving you nuts??

Colleen - Where ya been? Got any yoga or pilates in since your marathon? You in for MCM?

Jen - How's that cold?? Green snot rockets? Name for the kitten?

Dave - Any new blogs coming soon? Snagged some seats for a Broadway show in March yet? We're gonna run this thing together, right?

Mike - Oooh, new shoes?? :yay: Cool. Take a pic & put it on FB. Trail running, eh? Sounds like you're doing that 50 miler!!

ChickenBuddy - Hope the B'day was swell. What's up next for you & ...

Cindy - Didn't you catch a cold, too? Have you attempted another run after that last knee-aching one?

Howard - SO glad to hear the news about your knee. CT, CT, CT. Cesar Rodney, here you come!! Tell Cam  & :wizard: for her knee!

Judy - 10K @ MCM??? Why not the full? C'mon!

Lou - The Broad St. run is that 10 mile thing, right? When's that RnR 1/2 w/ the kickin' Liberty Bell medal?? That's the one I'm on board for!

CindyBQ - There are a LOT of runs in New England that I've never even heard of...we'll plan one together for later in the year. I'm trying to break a 2 hour 1/2 marathon a little bit more convincingly this year. Last year's was, like, 1:59:34 or something. :rotfl:

Not sure what the year holds in store for me. Was seriously considering that 50 miler, but have no intention of doing 30 mile training runs :rotfl2:. That being said, I don't want to hurt myself & leave the rest of the year a no-go. Was flirting with the idea of trying to break a 4-hour marathon, but that requires, again, that ugly T word!!

MCM? Not sure about that now that I been thinkin' on it. It being Halloween & all..we'll see.

OK, who'd I miss???

OK, let's see if we can't do this right...deep breath....here we go:

OK, who'd I miss???

Um, me. Just because I lurk here and don't post doesn't mean you can forget about me..... :confused3 :rotfl2:

Hah! Just dropping into to say "Hi!" to the Bots, and couldn't resist!

Philly RnR is 9/19, I believe. I am considering that one, but there's the DLR half to consider. Wouldn't want to drop in here and not have anything to contribute. :rolleyes

Jodi: The PDR/RnR 1/2 is Sept 19th (as Deb said) It is a really nice, flat race that I highly recommend. They don't have a full, but personally halves are more fun anyway. Butch and I will be there (and could offer you a couch in NJ if you need a place to stay)

Howard: great news on the knee :cool1: now listen to the doc and take it easy so you are able to run Caesar Rodney

Lou: We'll definitely see you at some of the Philia races-- any change you would come to New Brunswick for the 1/2 in April-- I know, I'm pushing this one

Chester: I hope things are going well and are not too stressful. Butch's dad lives right off the highway (?rt 70) behind a Goodwill bookstore and a Publix (can you tell I use landmarks more than actual directions?) Let us know if you will be in town or plan to run Gasparilla, maybe you guys could carpool to the start. (I'm even willing to subsidize a race bib for you so that I know Butch will have someone there to keep tabs on him-- not that I worry or anything) I admit I'm a bit jealous Butch gets to run this one without me, but there was no way to make it work for both of us.

Cindy: I hope you knee calmed down and you are feeling better.

I am getting better with my cold. At the point now here my head feels like a ton of bricks but not actively hacking anymore. I managed 6 miles last night, not pretty but done.

Our kitten comes home next Friday. In our usual Disney addict way her name will be Pixar (to go with our dog, Muppet). We will call her Pixie. If we feel ambitious we are planning to build a big cat tower/condo/climbing thing for her this weekend. We bought some wood and carpet remnant but have yet to be motivated enough to turn it into anything.

MCM? Not sure about that now that I been thinkin' on it. It being Halloween & all..we'll see.
I was going to be sort of snarky and say that you would be a witch in DC just as easily as at home but since you were so nice to include everyone (except Debra) in your post I won't.;)

And sorry, but even if I was so inclined I am not smart enough to post a picture of my shoes.

Howard - Good news about the knee. Now just go easy and listen to your doctor.

How is Cam's knee doing?

Mike~ I am really relieved and pleased that my Doctor said he believes this will heal if I give it a rest. He said at least 4 weeks of no running. I can live with that. I'll try to keep pace with Jodi. :rolleyes1 After that, I can ease into some road work and run the Caesar Rodney Half in March.

Cam saw the Doctor yesterday for a follow up. He said she is doing really well and sent her on to the next step in the process... Physical therapy to get the knee used to working like it should. The Doctor said he believe the last resort procedure won't need to be done. He is optimistic about this working out for her. Unfortunately he won't know that until about 6 weeks after the operation. It's been just over 3 weeks now. So, we have a bit more time to let it heal and develop. She is off crutches and not hobbling around at all. She is doing well. Physical Therapy begins tomorrow morning.

Hi to all my BOT friends here and even the lurkers! Deb~ If you need a place to crash for the RnR Phila Half, you are welcome here too! No bridge tolls from Delaware!

TGIF!!!
