I am going to DLR with an adult that is allergic to Latex. Latex balloons outdoors is okay as long as they are not in extreme proxminity or get blown in their face. Indoors is a whole other ball of wax as they say. Can't go into party stores where they have the balloons or attend partys where everything is decorated with them.

Sooooo. I'm looking for times that would be more balloon free at some of the resturants so as to not end up in the ER. :sad2:

So would lunch at Storytellers Cafe and Steakhouse 55 be mostly balloon free?

Is Goofy's Kitchen even an option for any meal, or should I just mark that one off my list?

I'm thinking we are pretty safe with Napa Rose, House of Blues and the Jazz Kitchen. Any other suggestions? I know we will be okay with the CS places, just looing for options for table service.

I have already checked and they don't use latex gloves for food prep.

Thanks in advance for advise. Inhalers and Epi pen will be on person just in case. :scared1:

I am probably alone on this but I have never seen a balloon at a sit down.
I am sure others will chime in. Best of luck,

Jack

People with balloons usually have them tied to strollers or scooters. I've never seen any inside a restaurant except for Minnie and Friends breakfast. They give out balloons to guests and they are everywhere.

I agree with the previous 2 posts. Most people (including us) leave our balloons tied to a stroller.

As for Goofy's kitchen, we ate there 2x and I don't recall balloons being inside either.

Good luck! You are so smart to call ahead and find out about the latex gloves in food prep!

Ya, the only time I see balloons at meals is at character breakfasts, and even then there aren't tons. You'll be fine.

The only place where I've seen what appear to be latex balloons is at the onsite hotels at checkin.

I've mainly seen them on strollers, wheelchairs and at character meals, or counter service areas where strollers are wheeled in with a sleeping child. I think you will most likely encounter them around parade areas or the firework area. And on transportation, monorail or on the trams at the end of the day.

2 years ago my family was at DTD and ate at Naples restaurant and there was a balloon man there circling the tables making balloon animals for the all the kids. That was at 6:00pm and there were balloon animals everywhere. So I guess there is potential in balloons in the restaurants in DTD.

I'd call the DTD ones (well, I'd call any that I could actually find a phone # for) and ask specifically about latex balloons. Then, I'd also ask at the check-in counter the day of to make sure before we were seated.

I think most of the balloons actually sold (not given for free at the character meals) are mylar, rather than latex. We've only done 2 character meals. They gave the kids latex balloons at Minnie's, but not Ariel's; I don't recall seeing balloons there at all.

Cross Goofy's and ALL the character meals off your list. All have balloons.

I've been to Goofy's for dinner many times, and to Ariel's for lunch many times, and never seen balloons there. Maybe it just depends on the time/day.

Most of the balloons they sell in the parks are mylar balloons, not latex. The only latex balloons I can think of are the ones they sell with the lights inside. (And the balloons they give out in the hotel lobbies - they are everywhere at GCH.) There are plenty of places to eat outside - Naples, UVa Bar, La Brea, Ralph Brennan's, to name a few in DTD - Ariel's and I think WCT in DCA have outdoor seating, and there are plenty of counter service places to eat outside in both parks and DTD. Might as well enjoy the beautiful So Cal weather! :)

They have the latex "Goofy's Kitchen" balloons, they are usually placed on tables where there is a birthday. They often hand them out to younger kids. My niece and nephews love getting them.

I've only seen them at Ariel's during lunch.

At Naples they have a person who walks around making balloon sculptures for the kids, people carry them all around Downtown Disney--I'm talking elaborate hats, etc. Definitely have to watch for those, even in the shops at DTD.

There was a guy making balloon animals at dinner when we ate at Tortilla Joe's last week, but I know they also have outdoor seating.

I've eaten at GK once (didn't enjoy it at all) and there no balloons out, we've eaten at AG multiple times and never once have we seen a balloon, unless it was attached to a kid already. :) the ones that were attached to kids weren't AG balloons, they were the light up ones or generic. We've never done Surfs Up! or Storytellers and we didn't see any at M&F when we've eaten there.

Well, to make sure I wasn't dreaming, I looked through a few of our pics. Here you can see the balloons behind my son's shoulder (2 yellow.) I know we got green and blue balloons on the table last year for my nephews birthday.

The ones handed out at Goofy's Kitchen seem to be hit & miss. On our last trip there we saw some kids with them, but none of the kids in our group (5 total, 1 with a bday) received them. I've never seen that AG or Storyteller's. I always see them at Minnie & Friends and we haven't eaten at Mickey & Friends. I also agree that there are a lot of them in the onsite hotels. That is where my kids have gotten them in the past.

I didn't mean to imply you were incorrect, I was simply stating MY experiences at these restaurants. :) I meant no offense.

I can't remember if we have seen them for sure at Ariel's. I have seen them frequently at Minnie's and at Goofy's. I don't particularly care for them myself, as the kids always want them, and then having to hang onto them is a pain. I've only done Storyteller's for dinner, and they did not have them out then. We will be at Mickey's Surfs Up in a week, and will check them out then.
