balcony/smoking question about dolphin and swan

I am looking to book a room at the Dolphin or Swan with AAA discount for three nights in September. However DH smokes (never indoors) and I see that balcony rooms are limited in these resorts. My first question is if it is even possible to book a balcony room with the AAA discount. The three room options are standard, lakeview, or resort view (no balcony). If so, what room do I ask for and how much extra would it be?

Secondly I know I read that the Swan is a non smoking hotel but if the Dolphin isn't, are there designated smoking areas? Are they far away and inconvenient or does this just mean that you can book a smoking room (like I said, we don't want smoking inside our room).

When I stayed at the Dolphin last September, we had a smoking room (DBF smokes) on the 9th floor. It didn't have a balcony, but you could get one if you wanted. As far as AAA rates go, I'd give them a call and ask if a balcony room is available at a AAA rate.

Yes, the Swan has been non-smoking for about a year now - the Dolphin still allows smoking in some rooms.

All Smoking rooms at the Dolphin are on the 9th floor - some with balconies. I think you could add a request to your reservation fro a balcony room - but I do not think it can be guaranteed.

I had a smoking room at the Dolphin but since I don't smoke indoors I reserved a balcony and got one. I was on the 9th floor waaaay at the end of the wing, but it was a great room to look out and see ToT in the background and the boat dock was below us.
