We booked a trip for May of this year. We are looking at moving our trip to February and it looks like the points will be about 15 less than the trip already booked.

the question I have is since we did barrow some points and used some from the current use year, are we able to put back the 15 points into next year?

Would we need to tell DVC that we want the points for this year as the ones not being used and then have them bank?

Will online reservations be able to do it on our own? I know when we book online it asks us what account and year we want to use them from.

We don't want to waste the points and rather put them into next year.

Thanks

Any borrowed points will remain in the UY they were borrowed into. They can not be banked and they will expire at the end of the UY they were borrowed into. Banking and borrowing are final transactions and can not be reversed.

What is your use year month? Generally, you should be able to do what you wish...using the currently borrowed points first and bank any current use year points you don't need. But it depends upon your use year banking window.

I want the recipe for baking points!!!:rotfl2:

Although you can't put back your borrowed points, you can instead pull current points out of the reservation and have them bank those into next year.

When you book a reservation, the system will always use banked and borrowed points before the current UY points. If you do this online it's automatic, if you call MS they should do it, but it's better to ask to be sure.

So if I understood what you want to do, you can cancel the reservation, rebook the new one and you would end with 15 points from the current UY left. Those points can be banked into next year.

Yes. This. The systme will use the borrowed points first (since they cannot be put back....all banking and borrowing are final transactions) but you will end up with current UY points leftover. You may then the bank them for next year. However, if you aren't going next year....they cannot be banked again.

Yes, if you do it online it will do it the way you want. And it will show very clearly what it has done, and give you the chance to cancel without penalty if it hasn't taken the points exactly the way you want. Check that carefully, because it might be so close (30 days) to your reservation that if you cancel it later, the points will go into holding (which is a whole 'nother story).
