Baking help....

Ok, I need some baking help. Here's the situation......my cousin is having to sell his dairy herd because of financial reasons. My mom's circle from church is providing the food for the sale. I have offered to help with bars, etc. I was wondering if there were any bars that I could make ahead of time and stick in the freezer....and that will keep their taste. The sale is on the 9th of June...so not too far away. Any ideas? Oh...and I am not much of a baker...so the easier the better!!

The Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe on the back of Nestle Toolhouse Chips works really well baked into bars. I do this all the time and freeze them. Make sure you slightly under cook them so they don't dry out.

I did a google search for "bar cookies that freeze well" and a lot of sites came up. Try looking at a couple of these for good ideas. I don't know if I can post links to these. Have fun baking.

I would try baking a batch and freezing them for a few days to see how they do. If they thaw nicely and taste good, then you can bake more in larger quantities. Perhaps you can do some experimenting first since you have a few weeks before the sale. Be sure to cool them all the way before wrapping and freezing. This will keep them from sticking together.

My MIL bakes and freezes almost all the bars she makes around Christmas and they are just fine. I know for sure that Mounds Bars and Salted Nut Rolls freeze well. I would think that any cake type of bar would not (brownies, etc.) We call the chocolate chip cookie ones Marble Square bars. They are pretty universal and freeze very well.
