I know a lot of us are looking for ways to trim our grocery budgets. I always buy my bread at my local bakery outlet stores. The bread is fresh (not out of date) and is much cheaper than the grocery stores. I just stopped there after work today and bought... 2 loaves of "Bakers Inn" bread, 1 loaf Texas toast (for french toast), 1 pkg of wheat hot dog buns, 1 pkg of hamburger buns, 1 pkg of onion buns, 2 boxes of Twinkies and two little packages of mini chocolate donuts and the total was around $10.00. My local store sells mainly "Wonder" and "Hostess" brands.

Here is a link if you are interested in seeing if there is a bakery outlet store near you...http://www.bakeryoutlets.com/

This is a great tip. I shop at my local outlet once a week. On Sundays they have buy one snack cake and get one free. The only problem I have is that sometimes it is much much cheaper if you buy 2 of the same items. For example, recently I went in for hot dog buns. It was 1 for 99 cent or 2 for $1.30. So I just always get 2 and throw one in the freezer! It always tastes fine. :teeth:

I haven't shopped there in forever but our stores (Wonder here) have a card you get stamped for every dollar you spend to earn discounts. Also, check pennysavers and coupon books (like JB Dollar Stretcher) for coupons as well. Last time I went they also sold stuff like pasta and side dish mixes, oatmeal, etc... Not all of it was a bargain, but some of it was worth considering. It may just be me, but the bread isn't usually such a great deal here. We prefer wheat bread and the really cheap bread is usually white.

I hit Feihoffers outlet here and get Thomas bagels and english muffins and yummy donuts cookies and cakes. bagels are more than half the price of the regular store and a lot they'll ahve buy 1 get 1 free on them. They ahve the packs of 12 english muffins for 99 cents and donuts and cookies are 5 for $5. I love going there to stock up and bagels freeze really well.

That is the only place we buy our bread now.

DH and I eat the diet wheat that costs $2.69 at our stores, it is 2 loaves for $2.00 at the outlet. We also pick up the mini muffins for DS's b-fast.

Gotta love saving money!

I'd go if there was one locaed closer to me. The nearest one is almost 20 miles and not in a direction I travel regularly. My parents go to a Pepperidge Farms one and get some great deals on bread, stuffing, crackers and snacks. I'd probably buy too much "junk" food if there was one near me, now that I think about it.

Our Hostess/Wonder Bread location went out of business about a year ago. I travel often and found a Sara Lee outlet near Corbin, KY. We like the white multigrain. It is around 2.00 a loaf at Kroger/Meijer/Wal Mart--it was .49 a loaf there. I buy 4-6 while in the area and freeze it.

Many Entertainment books have 1/2 off coupons in them-take a look there for more discounts.

This is a great budget tip. There's a bread outlet very near me -- it's 1/2 a mile out of my way, so it's less than ten minutes for me to stop.

I can buy three loaves of good bread (not out of date, and better than store brand stuff) for 1.70. Their snack cakes are not very good, so I don't buy them often. Sometimes I'm lucky and they have those little brown loaves that they serve at Outback Steakhouse.

Same here. For health reasons we really need to eat whole-grain, high fiber bread and my local Wonder outlet doesn't have it. I've gone in a few times, but most of what they have is sweets that aren't good for us.

We also have an Entenmann's outlet pretty close by that also stocks Thomas english muffins, bagels, breads, etc. and that premade pizza crust they sell in the grocery store, can't think of the name. I don't go too often though, I don't need temptation to buy donuts!
