I can't even believe this but here's what happened:

A trader that also produces pins sends me a request. I reply in the affirmative. He sends me his address, and I send him my address. I thank him for the trade and get his package ready to go.

Later that day I get a weird e-mail from him saying "I just wanted to confirm that you are sending two pins for my one pin." What? I reply that I don't know what two pins he would be referring to, since the request only included one pin. He then replies that he will only trade his pin for two pins and to "please let him know what other pin I will offer". I replied that the pins we are already trading are equal in value, and that we already have a trade agreement. He then sends me a note saying that he has traded his pin but "he may get more" and I should tell him what else I will offer.

I'm telling you, it's a good thing I didn't drop his package off at the post office between his agreement e-mail and his "oh, I want two pins now" e-mail! This is definitely not the way to pin trade, and I would think that he of all people should know.

Now, why did I get back into pin trading again?

You got back into pin trading because there are still some nice people to trade with and the good people outweigh the bad......don't they??? :)

But......There are a lot of strange pin traders out there.

Glad you didn't "get taken."

Think of all the good friends you would not have met and have supported you and your family if you hadn't started pin trading.
A few bad apples can't be helped and are easily ignored when you weigh them against the good friends you have met.

Sharon, I am sorry this happened to you - try not to let him get to you. As for why ... because I have a hand drawn picture of Cinderella's Castle on my refrigerator :).

I am familiar with this trader, and he does this often. He used to be very fair, but now has become quite greedy. It is a shame when that happens. Some of the pins he has requested in trade from me cost TWICE what he has to trade and he wants TWO!!!

Some people are not into trading to have fun and make friends, some are just greedy.

Thanks guys. Actually, it could have been a whole lot worse...I could have already mailed my pin. Since I didn't, there is no harm done but it's too bad that this guy has become like this. Another one for the "do not trade" list I guess!

And yes, I do know why I got back into trading...it's because of you guys. You are wonderful.

Sharon please email me the name of the trader and forward me the emails if you still have them?

When I first read the title of this thread I thought it said Bait and Stitch. I thought Sharon was going to tell us about a new pin featuring Nemo and Stitch. Now that would have been cool.

Sharron,
I'm very sorry this happened to you. Unfortunatly there are some not so nice people out there.

I had a similar thing happen to me about a year and a half ago. My trade was confirmed through several emails with this other trader. The day after he sent me an email confirming that he received my address I sent him an email just to say I was leaving in about an hour to mail his pin. Since we both have AOL I could check to see when he read my email without him replying. He read my email about 15 minutes after I sent it. Since there was no reply by the time I left to mail the pin then go to work I did not think there was a problem.

When I got home I had a message from the other trader saying that he had traded the pin he had agreed to trade me the day before. I looked at when he sent this email and it was 9 hours after he read my email. He also mentioned that he may be getting another one of the pins I wanted, but would only trade it to me if I included another pin. I declined this, told him that he should have informed me of this change right away, and asked him to return my pin when he got it.

When the pin was returned to me I noticed that the envelope had been opened and resealed and the pin inside was broken. The trader claimed not to know anything about this. Other people had problems with him too.

When things like this happen we just have to remember for every 1 bad trader there is out there, there are 100 good traders.
Becky
